I AM EXTRA IN A SHONEN MANGA

Chapter 158 – Pearlbay (8) Birth of a new era

Rael stepped forward, his uniform clinging to his frame, Lumen Blade gleaming like judgment incarnate. His emerald eyes reflected both fury and certainty.

"Time to finish this!!"

He raised his left hand. A radiant sigil carved itself into his palm, searing white-green, burning bright like divine law.

"Judicator Form."

The words struck the air like a hammer of fate. Seraphis merged closer, its wings unfurling as they wrapped around Rael's body. Light threaded into his uniform, engraving him into a living icon of judgment. His irises split into mirrored fractals, his gaze no longer human but something higher, something crystalline.

"My hope fuels you, Seraphis. Our purity… our verdict."

The dock shivered beneath the aura. By invoking Phase Bloom, Rael forced the 5th Vein Gate to harmonize with Seraphis, granting him lethal, multi-affinity efficiency. It was the precursor to an Eclipse-class authority, the Verdant Mirror Eclipse half-born, but no less terrifying.

Kaen's eyes burned brighter. He spat onto the dock and grinned. "You're not the only one with a transformation. I too have one!!"

His voice cracked like firewood splitting.

"Fifth Vein Gate… OPEN!!"

Flames erupted but not alone. Shadows wove through them, shade clinging to his arms and torso, writhing like black fire. His form flickered between brilliance and abyss, half fire, half shade, his aura roaring with barely-contained instability.

"I can control sixty percent of it without breaking. That's enough to burn this monster down."

The voidmark on his back pulsed, faint cracks of violet spreading across his skin.

Ceyla rolled her eyes, sparks dancing off her knuckles. "Show-offs. I won't use my Fifth Vein Gate." She smirked, raising her hands as arcs whipped into the rain. "Third Gate is enough. Besides, if you two kill yourselves, someone has to keep this fun."

Her lightning crackled against the sea, defiant and wild.

Lira stood further back, weaving Shinrei threads over wounded Guardians. Her lavender eyes glowed, calm in the storm. "Stay alive, all of you… I will not let a single heartbeat fade."

Beside her, Elder Neria lifted her hands, pale-blue barriers flaring across the Sanctuary's perimeter. "The wards hold… but only barely. I must trust them now."

Khael remained still at the front, dark hair whipping in the gale, scales faintly gleaming. His presence alone was weight enough to anchor the team. He hadn't shifted into his Dragon Knight form. He hadn't needed to.

"Three years," he thought, voice steady in his chest. "Three years since that night. I don't need the old power unless someone greater than this beast stands before me. I am stronger now… and they'll see it."

Juno clenched his bandaged fists, his stance wide, body trembling as the Fifth Taishin Gate opened within him. His veins surged, his nerves no longer screaming but silent—pain erased. His aura was all steel and endurance.

"I am the wall. I am the shield. Let it strike me—I will not yield."

The dock quaked as Thal'ryx bellowed again. Its spine arched, obsidian scales catching the stormlight. Black Shinrei oozed from its wounds like tar, steaming when Kaen's flames touched it. Even bound to fifty percent, its aura suffocated the bay, bending the tide and air.

Elder Moe stood frozen at the sanctuary's steps. His hands trembled against his cane, his eyes wide.

"Children…" he whispered. "They are children. And yet… they stand against a calamity as if it were theirs to judge."

The sight pierced him, Rael cloaked in divine law, Kaen blazing half-fire half-void, Juno bracing with his mortal body, Ceyla laughing amid stormlight, Lira stitching life into the wounded, and Khael… standing unshaken, the calm center of it all.

"A generation born of storms, carrying flames brighter than ours," Moe thought, his eyes stinging. "We who failed left them this world. And now… they rise to protect it."

Thal'ryx's crimson eye narrowed, its roar splitting the storm. It lunged, claws tearing through dock and sea in one motion. A tidal wall surged up behind it, blotting out the horizon.

Rael raised his blade, his emerald sigil blazing brighter. "Judgment is mine!"

Kaen screamed back, his aura splitting fire and void. "Burn, you monster! Burn!!"

Ceyla's laughter was wild, reckless. "Let's see if the storm can dance!!"

Juno's teeth clenched, veins bulging, his thoughts a steel mantra.

"No pain. No weakness. No retreat."

The fifth Taishin Gate howled inside him, nerves dead to pain, body thrumming with reckless power. His feet dug into the shattered docks, and with a single pulse he launched forward like a cannonball wrapped in flesh.

Khael's hand rose, calm and unwavering. His palm traced a circle in the air, and the tide itself bent, dragging planks and iron chains into orbit around him. His command was simple, unbreakable:

"Strike together. No fracture. This is our era now."

Thal'ryx moved first. A maw of black-red fangs opened, and its scream came like a storm splitting mountains. Its claw, each talon longer than a spear, carved down toward them. The impact split the dock like paper wood exploding, water geysering.

Juno ducked under the claw, body moving faster than thought. His fist drove upward, striking the beast's joint. Bone cracked, shockwaves splintered the dock further. Thal'ryx reeled back, not from pain, but from surprise, this mortal dared halt its strike.

Rael was already in the air. Judicator Form blazing, wings of fractured light folded around his arm. His Lumen Blade carved downward, leaving mirrored trails of emerald. "Eclipse Art: Fracture Law!" The strike met the beast's scaled shoulder; sparks and shards of corrupted essence burst like glass shattering.

Kaen roared from the flank, half-flame, half-shade, his aura writhing like two storms locked in embrace. He drove both hands forward, fire erupting into a spear while shadows curled around it, making the flames scream hotter, darker. The spear slammed into Thal'ryx's ribs, piercing through a layer of scale an unnatural hiss spilling from the wound.

Ceyla smirked, voice sharp with defiance.

"Try keeping up, boys."

Her Shinrei burst storm affinity ripping the air into razors. She wove lightning into a whip, snapping it across the monster's face. Each crack left glowing scars, distracting its gaze, keeping its fury divided.

Behind them, Lira's hands never stopped glowing. Every time Juno's skin tore, every time Kaen's veins pulsed too close to collapse, her blossoms of light sealed the damage. She anchored them, silent, resolute.

And Khael, he didn't move with desperation. His stride was measured, eyes sharp. The Dragon Knight form slept, but his command over Shinrei bent the battlefield itself. The tide rose in walls behind him, breaking only where he willed it. Every crash, every push of water against the beast was precise, dragging its limbs off-balance just long enough for his allies to strike.

The air was chaos, but their rhythm was forming each attack folding into the next.

And Elder Moe, his hands gripping the railing until his knuckles went white, whispered low words drowned beneath the roar of battle, yet etched into the soul of the night.

"New Era… yes. This is the birth of it."

Thal'ryx roared again, this time not in dominance, but in challenge. It lashed its tail, black-crimson waves crushing the dock in half, scattering debris like meteors. Six figures stood amid the wreckage, battered but unbroken, and surged forward again.
