I am a Primitive Man

Chapter 733: The Turbulent Ninth Year of the Green Sparrow

The ninth year of the Green Sparrow was destined to be a restless one.

While the Green Sparrow tribe learned of the existence of the Semi-Farming tribe and, on one hand, plotted a tribal alliance and actively prepared for war, and on the other hand, as the people of the Semi-Farming tribe repeatedly probed the Green Sparrow tribe, far to the north, the leader of the Black Stone tribe, holding weapons made of black stone and leading similarly armed tribe members, headed south.

"#¥%F…"

On the way, the Black Stone tribe leader frequently turned to speak to those following him, and they responded with loud laughter or chest-beating howls.

Ever since, by chance, the Black Stone tribe discovered the 'protection fee' scheme — a delightfully profitable venture — their lives had suddenly become prosperous over the past two years.

During these two years, the Black Stone tribe leader and many strong adults spent less time hunting.

They mostly stayed in the tribe, waiting to collect food delivered on schedule from surrounding tribes. If a tribe failed to pay on time, they would take their weapons and go demand payment by force.

Under these conditions, the Black Stone tribe's life grew increasingly comfortable.

This time, the Black Stone tribe's mission was different. They were not going after a tribe that failed to pay protection fees; instead, they were set to conquer an entirely new tribe.

This tribe was relatively far away, and they had little previous contact.

They only learned of this tribe's existence because a neighboring tribe that had been trading with them mentioned a wealthy tribe over there.

That tribe had a substantial population and abundant food.

Upon hearing such news, how could the Black Stone tribe leader sit still?

What he wanted most now was to see wealthy tribes.

Because whenever he led his men with their black stone weapons to raid a wealthy tribe, the food of that tribe would become theirs. This feeling was wonderfully satisfying.

It had always been like this, and this time would be no exception.

Every era produces many accomplished people in various fields — those people often become figures others look up to.

Smart people exist in every era, including this one.

For example, the shaman, the female priestess of the Semi-Farming tribe, and the Black Stone tribe leader who pioneered the protection fee system — all could be counted among the smart ones.

Near the Black Stone tribe and the Bark tribe, closer to the Bark tribe's territory, there was another tribe with a clever leader.

Because the people of this tribe commonly wore blue flowers on their clothes or in their hair, they were called the Blue Flower tribe.

The Blue Flower tribe's leader was also an older female primitive woman.

The relatively small Blue Flower tribe survived until now largely thanks to her intelligence.

In earlier times, with some small hunting tricks, the tribe managed to live decently.

But since the arrival of those black stone-wielding demons, life for the Blue Flower tribe immediately grew difficult.

After two newborn babies in the tribe died from a lack of food, the Blue Flower tribe leader grew to hate the evil Black Stone tribe deeply.

However, the Black Stone tribe was far too powerful for them to resist.

Moreover, because the Blue Flower tribe heavily depended on a particular fruit growing around their land, they were unlikely to move away easily.

So, after delivering food to the evil Black Stone tribe last time, the Blue Flower tribe leader also casually informed them about a tribe not too far away — the Bark tribe.

The Blue Flower tribe leader had met the Bark tribe's people twice.

Their wealth and strength left a deep impression on her.

Especially when she saw them hunting with curved wooden bows — the sight stirred her heart.

Her tribe couldn't stand up to the evil Black Stone tribe, but maybe this strong tribe could…

Picking a fruit from a branch, the Blue Flower tribe leader straightened up and looked toward the strong tribe's direction, hope in her eyes…

Under the autumn sun, Bark, holding a bow, spoke some words aloud.

After his voice fell, the tribe began to bustle with activity.

Some carried stones into the yard, while others stacked them atop a low mud wall to make it higher.

More people were busy sharpening bones to make arrowheads…

Bark looked out quietly for a while.

The outside was peaceful, but he did not relax.

Not long ago, he had received a report from a tribe not too far away, warning that a powerful and evil tribe would soon attack them.

Bark was not unfamiliar with the evil Black Stone tribe — the tribe he once attacked and plundered had been assaulted by them.

Those people had now integrated into his tribe, and through them, Bark knew well how powerful the Black Stone tribe was.

At first, he thought the evil Black Stone tribe was far away and wouldn't come, but unexpectedly, they did come.

Still, Bark was not too afraid because his tribe had bows and walls.

When he had followed his leader to attack the Green Sparrow tribe before, their bows and walls caused them to be defeated quickly.

Now his tribe had those defenses too.

Although their walls weren't as tall and their bows didn't shoot as far as the Green Sparrow's, he believed they could still handle the evil Black Stone tribe.

If that tribe dared to set their sights on his tribe, then they deserved a good lesson!

"%%@!"

Before the sun set that day, someone in Bark's tribe, perched in a tree, started shouting.

With his cries, the tribe immediately burst into activity…

Not far from Bark's tribe, the Black Stone tribe leader held his weapon and smiled as he watched Bark's tribe begin their preparations…
