I accidentally Married the Leader of the Noble Path

Chapter 23 - Ice Spirit Mystique Physique

“Ah, hubby, you and your little sister are quite close, aren’t you? Hugging and all,” said Shangguan Rouyue, appearing beside them at some point. Her eyes narrowed, her tone teasing.

“I’m sorry…” Yang Xiaoqi suddenly snapped out of her trance, realizing her inappropriate actions. She quickly stepped away from Qin Nan, her face flushed with embarrassment, looking shy and adorably awkward.

Shangguan Rouyue’s gaze turned sharp as she glanced at Qin Nan, but he acted as though he hadn’t noticed.

“Xiaoqi, if you really don’t want to trouble me, why don’t you train with me? If you become stronger, no one will be able to bully you, and you’ll be able to handle things on your own,” Qin Nan suggested.

“Do you think I can? I’m afraid I’m too slow to learn,” Yang Xiaoqi replied, her tone hesitant, though her eyes sparkled with hope.

“Don’t worry. I’ll guide you step by step,” Qin Nan reassured her.

“Thank you, Brother Qin Nan!” Yang Xiaoqi said joyfully.

“Let’s start with the basics. I’ll teach you how to breathe and focus your Qi. Once you grasp that, you can begin formal training,” Qin Nan explained.

“Alright!” Yang Xiaoqi nodded.

Qin Nan then began teaching her the method of breathing and Qi cultivation. Although the concept seemed simple, mastering it was not an easy task. Qin Nan’s earlier statement that mastering this technique was a prerequisite for formal training was, in fact, a test. If Yang Xiaoqi couldn’t even learn to breathe and focus, then training would be futile.

Later that evening, Yang Xiaoqi returned home, visibly elated.

“Well, hubby, you looked pretty happy when Xiaoqi hugged you, didn’t you?” Shangguan Rouyue teased with a hint of sarcasm.

“Dear, what are you even saying? Do you think I’m that kind of person? I see Xiaoqi as nothing more than a little sister. Besides, you know she’s… well, not exactly a girl. What are you even worried about?” Qin Nan defended himself, his tone righteous. “And stop with the sarcasm; it’s unbecoming of your usual grace.”

“Jealous again, aren’t you? It’s cute when you’re like this. No worries—I actually find it adorable when you’re jealous.”

Faced with Qin Nan’s mix of teasing and righteous words, Shangguan Rouyue couldn’t maintain her stern demeanor. Her face softened with a mix of irritation and embarrassment.

Accidentally jealous again.

Although she was reluctant to admit it, the truth was that Shangguan Rouyue had indeed become increasingly prone to feeling jealous of her husband.

It was all her husband’s fault.

“Wifey, you don’t really think I’m so nice to Xiao Qi just because I’m naturally kind-hearted and worried about her, do you?” Qin Nan asked.

“Aren’t you?” Shangguan Rouyue retorted.

“Of course not. Actually, Xiao Qi has quite a lot of talent. It would be a waste not to let her cultivate,” Qin Nan explained.

“Really? How come I didn’t notice that?” Shangguan Rouyue said skeptically.

“Of course you didn’t notice. Your eyes are only on me, always drooling over your husband’s body,” Qin Nan teased.

“Shameless!” Shangguan Rouyue blushed and scolded him.

Qin Nan smirked mischievously. Teasing his wifey was so entertaining—he’d never grow tired of it.

Taking advantage of the moment, Qin Nan pressed on, continuing to tease her with suggestive and flirtatious remarks, even making bold claims about what he’d do to her that night, without holding back.

Shangguan Rouyue rolled her eyes repeatedly, torn between embarrassment and irritation, yet she didn’t entirely dislike it.

“Brother Qin Nan, I’ve learned how to cultivate Qi!” Yang Xiaoqi said excitedly.

Early in the morning, Yang Xiaoqi arrived at the Qin family residence. At first, Qin Nan thought something had happened—perhaps the village bully, He Qing, was troubling her again.

But no, she had learned how to cultivate Qi.

From yesterday afternoon until now, less than a full day had passed, yet she had mastered it. Her speed was astonishingly fast.

Even compared to the prodigies of prestigious sects in the cultivation world, she was not inferior.

Shangguan Rouyue was stunned. Although Qin Nan mentioned Yang Xiaoqi’s high aptitude yesterday, she didn’t take it seriously.

Even for someone with talent, learning Qi cultivation should take at least a week, right?

Yet here was Xiaoqi, mastering it in less than a day.

Finally, Shangguan Rouyue was convinced—her husband hadn’t wanted to waste such talent and had decided to teach Yang Xiaoqi cultivation for a reason.

In hindsight, she realized she had misjudged, while her husband had seen through it first.

Though a sense of failure lingered, Shangguan Rouyue felt more pride and joy in her husband’s sharp judgment.

She didn’t dwell too much on why Qin Nan possessed such keen insight.

To confirm that Yang Xiaoqi wasn’t exaggerating, they asked her to demonstrate her Qi cultivation technique.

Yang Xiaoqi sat down cross-legged, her movements clumsy, clearly those of a novice.

However, she surprisingly entered a meditative state quickly. Her breathing became steady, and the surrounding airflow converged toward her.

She was truly cultivating. Moreover, a layer of cold mist enveloped her body as she did, something distinct from other cultivators’ techniques—more mystical.

“Is this the Ice Spirit Mystique Physique?” Shangguan Rouyue exclaimed in surprise.

Upon closer observation, it was confirmed—Yang Xiaoqi didn’t have an ordinary constitution. She possessed the Ice Spirit Mystique Physique, making her exceptionally suited for cultivation.

It was astonishing to only discover this now—what a missed observation.

Though it’s challenging to discern one’s physique before formal cultivation, there are often subtle clues.

Yang Xiaoqi’s delicate features, soft voice, and gentle demeanor—all traits more aligned with femininity despite being male—were clear signs of uniqueness.

Such individuals often possess extraordinary talent.

The Ice Spirit Mystique Physique typically appears in females, so this was Shangguan Rouyue’s first time seeing a male with it.

Perhaps this anomaly was due to the physique itself.

Though Yang Xiaoqi’s traits blurred gender lines, it was a blessing in disguise, granting her a constitution envied by countless cultivators.

Shangguan Rouyue couldn’t believe that in the small village of Niujiao, two exceptional talents could be found.

Even large sects might only find one prodigious disciple in a recruitment exam worth boasting about.

This showed how rare such talent truly was.

Instinctively, Shangguan Rouyue glanced at Qin Nan. How had he discerned Yang Xiaoqi’s potential?

“Honestly, I wasn’t entirely sure. I just wanted her to give it a try. Turns out we struck gold,” Qin Nan said smugly.

“I see,” Shangguan Rouyue said, deciding not to overthink it.

After all, the two had grown up together. It wasn’t unusual for him to notice something she hadn’t—it could simply be a coincidence.

Yang Xiaoqi had now opened her eyes. The cold mist around her dissipated instantly.

Her eyes, like finely sculpted ice crystals, were beautiful and radiant, though the brilliance quickly faded back to normal.

“Did I do it right?” Yang Xiaoqi asked nervously.

“You did perfectly. Xiaoqi, did you know? My wifey just said you possess the Ice Spirit Mystique Physique, a rare and extraordinary gift. As long as you cultivate diligently, you’ll achieve great things,” Qin Nan said.

“Really? You not  just saying that to make me happy, right?” Yang Xiaoqi said, her face lighting up with joy.

“I’m not lying. Ask my wifey,” Qin Nan replied.

“It’s true,” Shangguan Rouyue confirmed.

Hearing this, Yang Xiaoqi’s smile grew even brighter. She beamed, her joy as radiant as a flower in bloom.

Clenching her tiny fists gently, she resolved to become a cultivator—not only to avoid being bullied but to grow stronger and help others, so she wouldn’t always be indebted to others’ kindness.

She stole a glance at Qin Nan.
