HxH: Noah’s Heart

Chapter 27: Chapter 27: Mistake X Mirror Image

"Have you already figured out the clues so quickly?" When Noah successfully neutralized his ability, Ashu's smile faded, and his expression grew more serious.

Originally, Ashu thought that Noah would have to suffer at least a bit to discover the inner workings of this ability. However, he didn't expect that Noah would crack his ability in just a few minutes.

Turning around, Noah looked at Ashu and asked, "Is this your only ability?"

Upon hearing Noah's words, Ashu's face gradually darkened, and a black dagger once again materialized in his palm.

"You arrogant brat, don't underestimate me," he said coldly. With a swift motion, Ashu threw the dagger towards Noah.

Noah didn't actually mean to underestimate Ashu; he merely wanted to see if Ashu had any other abilities, which he could then record in his assassin's note.

To be honest, Noah felt that this ability was quite impressive. Setting aside the power of the dagger, if he hadn't been training to use "Nen" regularly, he might have been continuously entangled by those two daggers until he was hit. For others, it could lead to a disadvantage.

Furthermore, if Ashu had not chosen to stay in place and watch after throwing the dagger but had attacked in tandem with the dagger, Noah might have been temporarily helpless, even if he had discerned the principle of this ability. It seemed that Ashu's experience in combat was still lacking.

At this moment, Noah was even able to assess someone else's lack of combat experience, which was quite thought-provoking.

The second dagger that Ashu threw was faster than before, but it was only slightly faster. Because Noah was lost in thought and relaxed his vigilance, he planned to let the flying dagger pass him by.

Humph, now you'll learn the consequences of underestimating me.

A hint of mockery flashed in Ashu's eyes.

Just as Noah had turned his body slightly and was about to evade the dagger, a sudden sense of danger surged into his mind, causing the hair on his body to stand on end. Without any warning, Noah's feet forcefully shifted his position on the ground, turning his body once again.

Subsequently, Noah felt a sharp pain in his arm, and when he glanced, he saw a cut on his arm, with blood flowing steadily.

The incident had happened so suddenly that Noah didn't even perceive where the attack had come from. If he hadn't instinctively moved his position a moment ago, his injury might not have been limited to his arm.

Is this also his ability? An invisible attack?

"Tsk."

Seeing that Noah had managed to avoid his attack at the last moment, Ashu clicked his tongue disapprovingly.

"How's that? Do you understand the consequences of underestimating me now?"

Noah squinted his eyes and replayed the recent scene in his mind. He still couldn't see where the attack that injured his arm had come from.

Could it truly be an invisible dagger?

"I was too arrogant. I didn't expect you to have this kind of ability, Invisibility?" he admitted, acknowledging his own shortcomings. Noah then stated his assessment of Ashu's ability.

First, let's state my speculation.

Regardless of whether the opponent's ability matches my guess, this action might reveal something from their expression or actions. That's Noah's plan.

"Invisibility? Hahaha, is that your guess?" Sure enough, upon hearing Noah's speculation, Ashu burst into laughter.

It doesn't seem to be invisibility. Noah had maintained his "Gyo" state with his eyes, which could rule out the possibility of Ashu using "In." Noah squinted.

The so-called "In" is a technique of Nen abilities, an application of "Zetsu," which allows one's aura to be in a semi-physical state, making it difficult to detect. Only by using "Gyo" could it be seen.

If it's not invisibility and not "In," but I still can't see the attack, could it be related to illusions? Observing Ashu's expression, Noah continued to speculate in his mind.

Looking at his own arm, Noah assessed that the chance of the wound being an illusion was extremely small.

If the injury isn't an illusion, then it's possible that this ability is affecting my vision, making me unable to see or judge the source of the attack. In that case, this explanation makes sense.

"Unfortunately, you guessed wrong," Ashu replied calmly, having already concealed his laughter.

"If it's not an invisible dagger, then it should be related to illusions or hallucinations, right? I suspect you've used some method to influence my vision and make my judgment go astray," Noah voiced his guess.

Upon hearing Noah's words, Ashu subconsciously widened his eyes, a look of surprise appearing on his face.

"Oh? It seems like my guess is correct," Noah said with a hint of a smile on his face.

Who is this kid? In just a short two sentences, he figured out my ability again?

Dagger Magic, Ashu's conjuration Nen ability, allows him to conjure two types of daggers. The first type is the tracking dagger he used earlier, but Ashu needs to engage in close combat with his opponent, attaching a tracker, a small ball that Noah flicked away with his finger, to the opponent's body. Each small ball can only guide one dagger, and as long as the opponent doesn't remove the tracker, the dagger will keep following them.

The second type of dagger, named Mirror Image Dagger by Ashu, as the name suggests, creates an illusion that makes it appear as if there is a mirror image of the dagger. When Ashu threw the dagger earlier, he clearly conjured only one dagger, but Noah didn't notice.

In reality, at that moment, Ashu had indeed conjured only one dagger. However, the dagger that could be seen by others was actually a projection, like an image reflected in a mirror – visible but intangible. The real dagger was in Ashu's other hand!
