Chapter 5: Chapter 4: Trials of the Hunter

After emerging from the dense forest, Kael and his friends were greeted by Satotz, who announced that the first phase of the Hunter Exam had officially ended. Relief washed over the group as they took a moment to catch their breath and process their achievement. They had successfully navigated the treacherous terrain and evaded numerous threats, but the journey was far from over.

On the other side of the forest, Illumi, disguised as Gittarackur, confronted Hisoka. His cold gaze bore into the magician as he issued a stern warning. "Hisoka, do not harm my brother. If you lay a hand on him, you will regret it."

Hisoka's smile widened, a hint of amusement flickering in his eyes. "Relax, Illumi. I'm merely observing. Kael is a fascinating individual. I wouldn't want to spoil the fun."

Illumi's expression remained unreadable. "Remember our agreement."

Hisoka chuckled. "Of course, of course. No harm will come to your dear brother."

With the first phase behind them, Kael and his friends moved on to the second phase of the exam. The new examiners, Menchi and Buhara, introduced themselves and explained the next challenge. The first part of this phase required the examinees to hunt and cook a Great Stamp, a massive wild boar found in the forest.

Kael's eyes gleamed with determination. He had a strategy in mind and shared it with his friends. "The weakest part of the Great Stamp is its head. If we target that, we can bring it down quickly."

Gon, Kurapika, Leorio, and Killua nodded in agreement, trusting Kael's judgment. Together, they ventured into the forest, their senses heightened as they tracked the massive creature. After a tense search, they finally spotted a Great Stamp grazing in a clearing.

Kael took the lead, instructing his friends on the best approach. With precise coordination, they launched their attack, targeting the boar's head. The creature staggered, and with a final, decisive blow, they brought it down.

With the Great Stamp defeated, the group set to work preparing the meat. They carefully cooked the boar, infusing it with herbs and spices they had gathered along the way. When it was their turn to present the dish, Menchi and Buhara tasted it, their expressions a mix of surprise and satisfaction.

"Well done," Menchi said, nodding in approval. "You've passed the first part of this phase."

Buhara, licking his lips, added, "This is delicious. You have a good sense of flavor."

The group cheered, their hard work paying off. But their relief was short-lived, as Menchi announced the second part of the challenge: making sushi. The examinees were provided with rice, seaweed, and raw fish and instructed to prepare perfect sushi rolls.

Kael and his friends exchanged uncertain glances. None of them had experience making sushi, and the challenge proved to be more difficult than anticipated. Despite their best efforts, they struggled to create the delicate rolls to Menchi's exacting standards.

When it was time for the judges to evaluate their sushi, Menchi's disappointment was evident. "None of you have passed this test. Your sushi is unacceptable."

The examinees erupted in protest, their frustration palpable. Leorio, always outspoken, stepped forward. "This test is impossible! How can you expect us to pass when we've never made sushi before?"

Menchi's eyes narrowed. "The Hunter Exam is about pushing your limits and testing your adaptability. If you can't handle this, you don't deserve to be Hunters."

Kael remained calm amidst the chaos. He knew that Chairman Netero would arrive soon to address the situation. His calm demeanor stood in stark contrast to the rising tension among the other examinees.

Buhara, sensing the growing unrest, tried to calm the crowd. "Let's not get ahead of ourselves. There's always room for improvement."
