Hunter Of The Six Realms

Chapter 71: Chaos

Kaizen had long arrived at Crimson dusk, he had looked all around for Flynn but he couldn't find him. The whole place was in a frenzy, people were panicking for some reason.

He caught one hunter rushing past him and decided to stop him to ask. "what's going on? Why is everyone panicking?"

"Every hunter below C-rank have been told to evacuate for safety, we're under attack, and it's just two men. You should see how powerful they are, I wouldn't recommend you fight them. I'm going home." The hunter's tone was urgent, and without waiting for Kaizen's reply, he sprinted away.

Just two men? They must be really strong if they can make a whole guild of hunters panic this much.

Kaizen could sense a burst of energy coming from underground. He immediately understood that the fight was happening in the underground prison.

Could this be related to that frost user from that time? What if...one of those men is his manipulator.

Kaizen knew for sure that the frost user was being manipulated, he gave off all the signs back in the training hall.

His expression tightened as he began walking forward, his eyes fixed on the ground. He traced the mana he was sensing underground, trying to locate the exact spot of the prison beneath him.

If that man was a shadow user like he suspected, his power would be unstoppable if he fought in a dark place. That explains why he chose to remain underground. He planned to lure every hunter to come fight him, and then get rid of them as they come.

Kaizen tapped his feet several times in the spot he could feel the most mana coming from, his lips curves slightly in a smirk.

There you are.

The air chilled instantly. Thin cracks of frost spread under his boots, racing across the hall floor. A few hunters nearby stopped and stared, confused at what he was doing.

Then Kaizen lifted his foot and slammed it down with full force.

The floor boomed like a cannon. Tiles split apart, and the reinforced stone beneath them spider-webbed with fractures before caving in. Hunters stumbled, some shouting in shock as the whole section of the hall shook. Dust rained from the ceiling.

With a second slam, the frozen floor finally gave way, collapsing in a roar of breaking stone and metal. A jagged hole opened up, wide enough to see the faint glow and chaos of the prison below. The sounds of fighting shot upward, screams, mana flares, the clang of weapons.

Every hunter left in the hall was staring at Kaizen now. Some looked terrified, others furious, but none dared move closer. His little stunt had just ripped open the guild's floor like paper.

Kaizen stood at the edge of the gap, looking down into the hole, not even paying attention to the people looking at him.

Just then, he felt a wave of energy coming from the underground, leading to one man.

"Found you."

Kaizen jumped straight into the hole without a second thought. He dropped fast, landing hard on the stone floor of the prison. The place was already torn apart, hunters scattered on the ground, some frozen in blocks of ice, others tangled by shadows that moved like living chains. Frost spread along the walls, and the air was so heavy with mana it almost choked the breath out of him.

His eyes scanned the chaos quickly, ignoring the hunters struggling to hold their ground. Then he saw him. The one he had been sensing all along. He was obviously a shadow user, and an extremely powerful one. Kaizen couldn't even tell his rank, the mana coming off him felt infinite. And Kaizen knew he'd only get stronger in the dark, and the other hunters would be at a disadvantage. He had already wrecked so many as it was.

Kaizen lunged forward in a blur, his hand locking around the man's collar before he or anyone around even had time to register what was happening. In one clean motion, Kaizen tore him off his feet and blasted upward through the gaping hole he had made earlier.

They shot out of the underground like a cannonball, stone and dust spraying around them.

As soon as the made it to the surface, Kaizen slammed the man against the earth with bone-crushing force. The ground split apart on impact, cracks ripping outward while a cloud of dust and broken stone exploded into the air. The hunters nearby and the ones underground stumbled back from the shock, some shielding their eyes as debris rained down.

The man, like he'd just realized how easily he had been thrown around, twisted his body sharply. His leg whipped upward as he threw a kick towards Kaizen.

The kick connected hard against Kaizen's chest, blasting him backwards. His body slid across the fractured stone, boots grinding until he forced himself to stop.

Damn he is powerful. Who is he? He is definitely higher than S-rank.

The cloaked man who's hood had fell off pushed himself off the ground, rising to his full height. He stood straight, dust falling off him as if the slam hadn't even mattered. Shadows flickered faintly under his feet, stretching out like restless snakes.

His face was in full view now, black long hair, crimson eyes, unusually long teeth and blood streaking his lips from the earlier attack from Kaizen.

For a moment, the whole hall was silent. Every hunter watching could feel it, the intense mana pouring off the man.

The man's eyes narrowed as he finally spoke. His voice was low but steady as he gently wiped the blood off his lips.

"You're fast…no one has been able to land a single hit since we started, but you were able to force me out of there. Impressive I'd say."

"It is bold of you to attack a guild of hunters and expect you would make it out alive." Wraith's cold voice interrupted, and everyone turned to find him standing there with his hands clasped behind his back. And behind him stood all the captains of Crimson dusk.
