Just as Maou and Hestia were speculating wildly, a voice interrupted their thoughts.
"Give me a meal, please."
"Right away, sir," Hestia replied instinctively. When she turned around, she saw a strange young man wearing sunglasses staring at her blankly.
Though she couldn't clearly see his face, his voice unmistakably revealed that he was a young man.
"Wait, you're... y-you're...!"
The figure froze momentarily, but in that instant, he recognized her identity.
Hearing his voice, Hestia was equally startled. She knew descendants existed in this world, but she had also heard rumors that many policemen, gangsters, and even deranged scientists were hunting them down.
Unlike some other descendants, Hestia had no means of protecting herself.
For that reason, she had been living cautiously, keeping a low profile. She even disguised herself in work attire, hoping to pass off as a background character from an old sitcom. Surely no one would notice her like this—or so she thought. Yet, on her very first day, she had been recognized!
"No, no! I'm not Hestia! You've got the wrong person!"
Hestia hurriedly covered her face, panic overwhelming her. It was all over. She, a powerless goddess, had been discovered!
Would someone try to capture her? Would those mad scientists turn her into a guinea pig for their experiments? What was she supposed to do now?
In a world where strength dictates survival, Hestia realized she had no choice but to rely on others for protection. Right then and there, she resolved: once she returned, she must recruit a group of powerful family members to guard her. This world was simply too dangerous for someone like her!
Hearing her panicked denial, the man beside her removed his sunglasses.
"Hestia, don't be afraid. It's me—Alexander."
"Alexander?" Hestia squinted at his face and tilted her head, deep in thought. Then it hit her—she remembered this guy! He was the same author who wrote the anime where she comes from!
That's right! It 'was' him!
"You... you're Alexander?" she asked hesitantly. At the sound of her voice, the entire fast-food restaurant turned their attention toward Alexander.
"Alexander! It's Alexander!!!"
"Daddy Alexander! Oh my god, it's Daddy Alexander!"
"Wait a minute, that waitress! Holy crap! It's Hestia—I didn't even recognize her!"
"Alexander, can I get your autograph?!"
"Big bro Alexander! Let me be your disciple!"
"Alexander! Draw your sword! Give me back my wife!!"
Looking at the frenzy of people in front of him, Alexander felt his head spin. He had black hair, for crying out loud—wasn't that ordinary enough? And what was the point of wearing sunglasses to avoid recognition if people still recognized him?
"Let's get out of here!" Alexander grabbed Hestia's small hand without hesitation and, with a swift motion, flew into the sky, pulling her along.
As Alexander soared upward, the crowd below erupted into chaos. Dozens of people abandoned their meals to chase after him, wielding cameras and smartphones with an enthusiasm that made even Maou break into a cold sweat.
"Wait a second—that guy is Alexander? No way! I need to figure out how he has magical powers!"
Determined, Maou hopped onto his small bicycle and pedaled furiously after them.
Swish! Swish!
Meanwhile, Alexander had already carried Hestia back to his home. Flying certainly had its perks—no traffic jams, and the speed was unbeatable.
When Alexander landed with Hestia, the girls in his house immediately came running out. They stared at the scene before them with wide eyes—Alexander had brought home a beautiful girl with a childlike face, still dressed in the unmistakable uniform of the golden arches.
"Huh? Alexander, what... what's this all about? Why did you bring home a fast-food waitress?" Kurumi asked, eyeing Hestia curiously and giving her a once-over.
Such a cute and petite girl—had Alexander actually gone and snatched her up? Could it be? No, it couldn't be. Surely Alexander wasn't that kind of beast, right? After all, there were still so many girls in the house he hadn't made a move on yet.
"Alexander, don't tell me... you're into this kind of thing now?" Kurumi asked with a raised eyebrow.
Hearing her comment, Alexander sighed and shot her a tired glare. "Alright, Kurumi, cut it out. This is Hestia—a descendant and, more importantly, a goddess."
"A goddess?" Athena stepped forward, her eyes narrowing as she inspected Hestia. "This girl is a goddess? She seems so fragile. And... Hestia? That's not the Hestia I'm familiar with."
"I'm sorry for being weak, okay?!" Hestia snapped, her voice trembling. She glanced nervously at Alexander. "So... what are you planning to do with me now that you've captured me? You're not... some kind of bad guy, are you?"
