Chapter 125: The Spheres Of Tarondar
The elemental spheres all glow brightly as they are exposed to the atmosphere.
The magic of the box must be great if it can somehow even slightly contain the mana of all the spheres. We all look at each other in shock as we brace for impact. It feels like at any moment they could explode. King Grey makes sure to reassure us everything is safe.
The Emperor seems to be fine. These two are a different breed of humans.
"I know it was a risky move. However, in order to prevent these elemental spheres from falling into the wrong hands, I had to take them with us. If word gets out that I have left the Tarondar Palace, some of our enemies may try to infiltrate and take the elemental spheres from the noble families. That's why I decided to bring them all with me. I know it's risky, but it's high reward as well to keep them safer all in one place."
The Emperor sighs and says he will be right back. He says he is going to grab something.
We continue admiring and looking at the spheres until the Emperor returns shortly after with Professor Aldric in tow. The Emperor steps to the side and the Professor steps up to King Grey. He holds familiar-looking things which I assume are used to make the spheres into necklaces.
"May I see the elemental spheres, your highness? I would like to attach these artifacts to them to make them wearable necklaces which help contain their magic as well."
Professor Aldric asks King Grey. The King glances at the Emperor and he nods with his approval.
"Of course, Professor."
The Professor carefully handles each elemental sphere with extreme fear. Each sphere the Professor takes out of the box causes an immense amount of mana to be thrown up into the air which makes me feel like I am getting a headache. All the pressure goes to the head. Soon enough, the mana levels in the room seem to level out.
"All done, your royal and imperial highnesses."
The Professor says to both King Grey and the Emperor as he steps back. King Grey seems amazed as he looks at the newly contained elemental spheres in a necklace form. He asks if it is the same process and way my earth sphere necklace was made. The Emperor happily nods and says it is a great invention the Professor and his team came up with to contain and easily transport the elemental spheres without losing them.
Now the question is what do we do with all the elemental sphere necklaces.
We all know if the enemy gets their hands on one of these it may spell disaster. If they manage to get the majority of the elemental spheres or all of them, we have major trouble on our hands. Even my advanced origin magic can only handle so much resistance from multiple high-level foes.
A heated discussion breaks out between all of us. Mainly between King Grey, the Emperor, and Quillen who knows how to speak on behalf of our friends. King Grey thinks it's best if we keep them all in one place as we wouldn't have to worry if one goes missing.
It's a fair point since it means we could focus on just protecting one point.
The Emperor then points out that it may be better to scatter them around to various points of protection. He points out that if we all grouped them together, if all the elemental spheres got taken at once, the balance in power would totally flip to the enemies. He says we can adapt better to the enemy if they only managed to take one or two as long as we had the others.
We listen to each of them as we all have our own opinions on the issue.
Quillen listens intently to all of us and then offers his own solution.
"I agree with the Emperor in that we should scatter them around to different places. However, not in the way you think. In order to make sure each is adequately protected, I think we should give each elemental sphere to one of us. Each of us here has an affinity for a different element and all of us are powerful enough to handle it. Nico's sister can handle the Elemental Sphere of Light."
"Estes should take the Elemental Sphere of Earth. While Neve should take the Elemental Sphere of Water. Nico can handle the Elemental Sphere of Darkness and Zephyr can take the Elemental Sphere of Wind. This way all of us can personally guard our own element and control it better while also remaining fairly close to one another."
We all listen to this idea. All my friends and I agree it's a good idea. Since we are biased toward our own elements but also because it can help us advance our magic as well.
The Emperor agrees with the proposal. King Grey is reluctant at first but eventually agrees to the idea.
Once we officially agree on the plan, King Grey starts carefully handing out each elemental sphere to each of us. I take off the earth sphere necklace and hand it to Estes who happily takes it. The King hands me the dark sphere necklace and I place it over my neck.
Immediately I feel stronger and lighter. The element of darkness resonates with my mana.
Quillen was right that we should all wear the element we have the best affinity with ourselves. Even though I can technically wield earth magic as well, dark and light magic seem to be the best for me in terms of affinity. We all try very basic spells to see how well we can wield our magic with the elemental sphere necklaces.
The Emperor cautions us to be careful and not get too excited as he doesn't want us destroying his private lounge. I laugh as Matteo almost sets his clothes on fire. Luckily, Neve was right next to him, ready to use water in case anything happened to him.
We wrap up the meeting and place our elemental necklace spheres underneath our clothes.
It's getting dark now and we are all hungry.
The dining hall, here we come!
