Humanity’s Great Sage

Chapter 7: Saved from the Sea of Suffering

Lu Ye didn’t know how high Zhou Cheng’s cultivation was, but it was a lot higher than his.

Even though Zhou Cheng was injured, he was not an opponent Lu Ye could deal with on a whim. Any intention to kill him could only be realized with the help of appropriate methods, and the Sharp blessing was Lu Ye’s method!

When Lu Ye had nothing to do before, he had tested the Sharp spirit pattern and found that besides his palm it could also be used, and to an even greater effect, on weapons.

That split-second blossom of light from the spirit pattern made Zhou Cheng feel as though he had lost his mind. He didn’t even know Lu Ye had become a cultivator!

The two swords met with a slash. Zhou Cheng was surprised to find that his sword was chopped in half after only this one exchange.

This frightened him very much. When facing the enemy, his weapon was broken in the first strike. It was undoubtedly a huge blow to him mentally.

Just as Zhou Cheng was still in shock, Lu Ye’s second sword strike arrived.

After cutting Zhou Cheng’s sword, Lu Ye immediately lifted his long sword again and slashed towards Zhou Cheng’s neck.

Lu Ye didn’t know any swordsmanship, nor did he master any secret techniques, so he could only use the simplest of chopping motions.

Zhou Cheng felt deep in his soul that he was teetering on the brink of death. At this moment, he and Lu Ye were too close to each other. It was too late to retreat. He could only urge his little remaining spiritual power to protect his body with all his strength. Common sense would dictate that his cultivation should have been enough to resist Lu Ye’s attack. Logically, even factoring in the weapon in Lu Ye’s hands, Lu Ye’s cultivation level was just too low to be capable of breaking the protection of his spiritual power.

But in fact, when Lu Ye’s long sword fell, Zhou Cheng’s spiritual power protection did not have its intended effect. The long sword first broke through that layer of protection and continued on to slash directly into Zhou Cheng’s neck.

There was the sound of a sharp weapon piercing into flesh and Lu Ye felt a few drops of warm blood splash on his face.

“Bastard!” Zhou Cheng was furious. Unexpectedly, he was injured like this by Lu Ye, a mining slave. He raised his hand to hit Lu Ye.

However, Lu Ye had already let go of his long sword and ran to the depths of the mine without looking back.

Behind him he heard the sound of Zhou Cheng in ferocious pursuit. Lu Ye ran even faster.

Eventually, he felt that there was no sound behind him and he stopped.

He waited for a while before he turned around and went back. Halfway there he found Zhou Cheng lying on the ground. He wasn’t sure whether he was dead or not, so he picked up a few stones and threw them at Zhou Cheng. There was no reaction.

He boldly stepped forward, came to Zhou Cheng’s side, looked down, and saw that a large amount of blood under Zhou Cheng’s body stained the ground red. The long sword was still stuck in his neck.

Lu Ye’s second sword strike did not directly take Zhou Cheng’s life, but it did sever half of his neck. How could Zhou Cheng possibly survive such a serious injury for long?

It had been a desperate fight but it had finally ended in Lu Ye’s victory! He took a long breath as he acknowledged and understood the viciousness of this world more and more.

He stepped forward and grabbed the hilt of his long sword. As he was about to pull it out, he noticed a slight abnormality in the corner of his eye. He looked up and got goosebumps.

Lu Ye didn’t know when they had arrived, but another person was right there in front of him.

This could only mean one thing: there was a big gap between the cultivation base of the other party and Lu Ye! For some reason, the only thing Lu Ye could think about was that if such a person wanted to kill him, they only needed to lift their finger. Against such a person, even his Sharp blessing was completely useless.

He grit his teeth and, suppressing the panic in his heart, drew the long sword out to hold it horizontally in front of him in a defensive posture. He was so tense his body was slightly trembling.

The visitor felt his hostility and couldn’t help but laugh: “I noticed the fluctuation of spiritual power here, so I came to check it out. Don’t be nervous.”

He advanced step by step as he said this, stopping before Zhou Cheng’s corpse. He looked down and nodded slightly: “One of the wicked remnants of Evil Moon Valley.” He looked up at Lu Ye again: “Whose disciple are you?”

The distance between them now was no more than three feet and Lu Ye could now clearly see the other person’s appearance. He was an elderly man of larger build with a rosy complexion. He was tall and his voice was a bit low and hoarse, but he also gave off an indescribable feeling of friendliness.

Combined with the man’s questioning, Lu Ye immediately acted on a gut feeling and replied: “Mysterious Heaven Sect!”

“Mysterious Heaven Sect?” The man was a little surprised, “The Mysterious Heaven Sect that was destroyed a year ago?”

“Yes!” Lu Ye gave an affirmative answer.

The old man couldn’t help but glance up and down at him: “So, you are a mining slave who was captured back then?”

“Yeah.” Lu Ye nodded.

The old man was suddenly surprised. ‘To think that a mining slave actually killed a cultivator of Evil Moon Valley. If this kind of thing hadn’t been seen with my own eyes, I’m afraid no one would dare to believe it.’ He thought.

“What is your cultivation level?” The old man asked again.

“I’ve opened one spiritual aperture.” Lu Ye replied. Realizing the meaning of the old man’s words, he took the initiative to explain: “He was already injured. I just snuck up to him and landed a finishing blow.”

The old man smiled happily at him: “You’re a bit more courageous than the norm.”

“Sir, are you a member of the Great Heaven League?” Although Lu Ye had already guessed as such, for something this important he still wanted to hear the old man’s confirmation.

The elderly man stroked his beard: “Correct, this old man is from the Great Heaven League.”

Lu Ye was overjoyed. It seemed that the Great Heaven League had fought over the mine. Just as Manager Yang had worried before, the Evil Moon Valley couldn’t hold it at all. From the fact that this elderly man had already stormed into the vein, this much was apparent.

Perhaps the Great Heaven League was already in charge of the entire mine.

Lu Ye dismissed the idea that the old man could be lying to him as such a thing would be completely unnecessary. The difference between their cultivations was so great that, if the elderly man really were an enemy, he could just kill him with a casual wave of his hand.

“Please sir, would you save me from this sea of suffering!” Lu Ye quickly said.

He wanted to leave the mine but he didn’t know if he would encounter any danger along the way. After finally meeting such a senior, he naturally wanted to stick close to him and use him to get out safely with no fear of complications.

The old man nodded and said, “Then follow me. I was just about to leave the mine.”

“Thank-you sir!” Lu Ye was very grateful.

After the old man finished speaking, he led the way. But Lu Ye didn’t catch up to him immediately. Instead, he squatted down and felt about Zhou Cheng’s body, quickly finding a storage bag.

Storage bags were pretty much owned by every cultivator, and they didn’t seem to be too expensive an accessory.

Lu Ye was in a good mood, and jogged to catch up with the old man.

The old man turned his head to look at him, smiled and held out his hand: “Bring it here!”

Lu Ye felt unwell, as if he he’d eaten a fly. But considering the situation in front of him, he obediently offered the storage bag to the old man.

The old man took the storage bag, reached out his hand and wiped it across the opening of the bag, a light flashing as he did so.

Just as Lu Ye was cursing him in his thoughts, the old man threw the storage bag back to him and said: “This old man kindly accepts this bottle of Dragon Tiger pills. These are powerful supplements. A youngster like you couldn’t bear them. Treat this as though the pills were used to show respect to this elder!”

Lu Ye held the storage bag that was thrown back to him in both of his hands. Only then he realized that the old man was not trying to snatch his spoils, but that he knew Lu Ye’s cultivation was too weak to open the storage bag’s restriction, so he helped.

‘This old man is a nice person!’ Lu Ye thought in his heart, and thanked the man: “Thank-you very much.”

Hi mood was once again very happy…
