Humanity's Campione (HP/Campione)

Chapter 9: Battle on the Lawn

Author's Note:

Alright at the time I'm writing this, Iris coming to Hogwarts is winning pretty easily but I'm considering how it fits my narrative. For those who maybe didn't want it, I'll be developing her more like I'd originally intended to do so she doesn't just feel like a pointless addition. This is a breather chapter, mostly just fluff and some relaxing Hogwarts scenes before we get into the Triwizard Tournament next chapter.

Within a cage sat the same girl Harry had seen in his vision when he'd received the Elder Wand. The girl sat, her posture regal while her face looked frustrated.

"Reduced to this...that bitch...can't believe this."

Harry could see her and hear her muttering, but it came out in bits, with some words censored to his ears. It was then that the girl, or god, noticed him and locked eyes with him despite being unable to see him.

"You're here...hurry...free me."

"What is your name?" Harry asked, his voice seemingly coming from nowhere in the void.

"Eresh-" the god tried once again, and Harry could hear more of the name, but the end was still censored to his ears.

"Soon...that damn slut," were the last words he heard before he awoke with a start in his bed in Hogwarts.

It'd been a couple of weeks since Erica and Harry returned to Hogwarts. They'd given Dumbledore a summary of the events with Nyarlethotep and Or-Gaule and Harry had gone straight to bed after a kiss goodnight from Erica.

Since then, they'd settled back into school, dodging questions from Hermione and Ron about where they'd gone. The other schools were supposed to arrive on October 30th, and the entire school was looking forward to it.

Harry rubbed the bridge of his nose and sat up.

'I need to figure out who that god is and where the last Deathly Hallow is.'

He considered his options on how to go about figuring those two things out. He'd mentioned his visions to Erica after the meeting with Dumbledore, but she'd been unable to figure out exactly which god it could be with just the small portion of a name he'd gotten. Descriptions for gods varied, from their appearance to gender, so what she looked like wasn't all that helpful in figuring it out.

'Could really use Hermione's help with this.'

Telling Hermione and Ron the truth had been something he'd been thinking about for a while. If he had to guess why he was still putting it off, he just really didn't want his relationship with his friends to change. Hermione probably wouldn't be all that affected, she'd grown up in the muggle world, but Ron had grown up a wizard. He knew just what a Campione represented, and Harry couldn't help but feel it'd change their dynamic.

Casting a quick Tempus, Harry saw that he'd actually ended up sleeping in today and that most of his classmates were already probably down at breakfast. He got out of bed and went to shower. When he got back, he found that only Ron was still asleep.

"Mate, wake up or you're going to miss breakfast."

It was a Saturday, so they didn't have any classes today, but even for a weekend Ron was sleeping in way too late.

"Wah, five more minutes."

It took some time, but Ron eventually woke up and got ready for the day. The two of them made their way down the stairs, making conversation while they walked.

"I don't want to finish this essay for Snape. Maybe Hermione will help me," Ron muttered.

Harry was right there with him. He'd been putting off the essay as well and had no desire to spend his weekend writing with quill to parchment. His Campione powers had made the practical application of magic absurdly easy for him, but it hadn't made things like essays easier for him and despite his grades improving thanks to Erica's devoted help, he would prefer to enjoy his weekend.

When they made it to breakfast, they found Erica and Hermione talking with some other Gryffindor girls in their year. Erica seemed amused by whatever they were talking about, while Hermione seemed mildly frustrated.

Harry waved to Erica, who waved back and winked at him. They seemed occupied, and there were too many girls surrounding them, so Harry and Ron found a seat at the end of the table and sat down to eat.

"Whaddya think they're talking about?" Ron asked between bites of food.

"Beats me."

The two ate their breakfast and the congregation of girls continued to whisper to each other until they broke off and began to walk in different directions. Harry noted that a couple of them such as Lavender Brown and Parvati Patil went off to other houses and talked to some of the other girls there.

Erica, surprisingly, went over to the Slytherin table and talked to Daphne Greengrass and Tracey Davis of all people. Daphne hardly spoke with anyone, so it was rather shocking to see Erica slip into an easy conversation with the girl before she made her way over to Ron and Harry, Hermione also making her way to them.

"Since when do you know Greengrass?" Harry asked curiously.

Erica laughed, her voice was airy and light. "I don't spend all of my time with you. I am quite the social creature I'll have you know."

"Yeah yeah, so what was all that about," Harry said, rolling his eyes. "Can't help but be worried when most of the girls in our year have banded together over something."

Erica patted his arm soothingly. "Don't you worry, for you, it'll be perfectly fine. Just something I came up with. We just need you two to go out into the yard in an hour."

Then only to Harry, she whispered in his ear. "Just, make sure to fight back properly."

"Come on, spill Hermione. What's going on," Ron said.

Hermione bit her lip, but finally seemed to sigh and shake her head. "Just go outside, most of the boys in our year should be meeting up."

The two boys tried to get more information, but they were both tight-lipped about whatever this was. Without any information, the two simply decided to agree and made their way out into the courtyard at the allotted time.

It seemed like most of the boys in their year, from Dean Thomas to Neville Longbottom were there. Various houses, all out in the yard at the same time were a rather rare sight at Hogwarts.

Their attention was all drawn toward the large group of girls lined up in front of them.

"Alright we're here, what's this all about?" Dean asked.

Erica stepped up, the apparent spokesperson. "Lavender heard a rumor that you boys have a little list going around."

That comment caused some awkward shuffling from the group of boys. Harry was starting to get an idea of what this was about. He'd heard offhandedly that some of the boys had started to make a list of the hottest girls in the school after they came back from summer break. He hadn't actually seen the list, which he guessed was because everyone assumed he was dating Erica and would tell her about it.

'Now that I think about it, what the hell even are Erica and I. We kiss and flirt, but we've never established anything official.'

"We don't know anything about a list," Zacharias Smith said, but his slight stutter gave him away.

Erica grinned like the cat who'd caught the canary. "Really now, we're giving you all the fair chance to confess. Who made the list?"

Various eyes in the group of boys looked around, but no one stepped forward to confess.

"Then we have only one choice. The girls have decided it's only fair that we make a list of our own, but we obviously need an accurate measure. Plus, you all deserve a little punishment."

That was when Erica grinned and in unison, the girls all around lifted their wands up and cast "Aguamenti." From their wands, a rush of water emerged, the combined amount soaking every boy's dress shirt. Their clothes quickly clung to their body, Harry's own shirt clinging to him tightly and outlining his well-defined body. It was both a perk of Quidditch training and fighting gods.

Harry was rather confused. While it made sense the girls would be upset about the list, Erica organizing this whole thing seemed unlike her. She wasn't someone who would care about something as silly as that, and he took a moment to think it through.

He glanced at the group of girls, his eyes zeroing in on some that had been looking uncomfortable the whole time. Notably, Susan Bones, Tracey Davis, and Hannah Abbot all had looked varying degrees of uncomfortable.

It took him a few moments while everyone around him was sputtering while covered with water, but Harry figured out what Erica's goal was.

'They found the list and whatever it said made some of the girls self-conscious so she's trying to help them, but she doesn't want to go over the line.'

Harry wasn't even aware Erica was that much a social butterfly, but he could see her whispering in Susan's ear, which caused the girl to have a light smile on her face after a few moments.

Glancing around, Harry could see some boys looking abashed, while others looked irritated. Most likely, they were the ones who'd been uninvolved and gotten caught in the cross fire.

'Just, make sure to fight back properly.' Erica's words from earlier played in his ear, and he couldn't help but applaud her planning.

"It seems unfair that those of us who are innocent get soaked too. Turnabout is fair play," Harry called out, drawing attention to himself. Several of the girls looked at him and had blushes, but he ignored that as he pulled out his wand.

In a rather impressive display, he used "Aguamenti" to summon water but instead of spraying it at them it hovered in the air in the form of an array of water orbs.

"We shall have our retribtuion," he called out, his tone playful. "To me brothers."

The boys around him seemed to get his idea as they each cast the spell as well, not forming as many orbs as Harry, but each having a couple of their own.

This all seemed perfect to Erica, who also took our her wand. "Well then, we'll have to settle this properly. Ready yourselves."

The girls also seemed to get the idea as they did the same as the boys, and soon there were various orbs of water floating on both sides.

"Attack!" Harry and Erica called out at the same time and the two sides released their orbs, sending them flying at the opposing side.

From there, the entire thing devolved into a giant water fight with everyone soaked. Erica had the foresight to tell the girls to wear thick clothing, so no one was indecently exposed, but they were still soaked to the bone in the cold fall weather.

Eventually, it was broken up Professor McGonagall coming out and admonishing them for wanton use of magic when it wasn't allowed, but she'd only taken a cursory 10 points from each house.

When all was said and done, Harry lay down on the grass in his soaked clothes and Erica came over and lay down next to him.

"So, go how you wanted it to?" Harry asked.

"Yes, some of the girls were feeling pretty self conscious, but I think this helped."

The two lay next to each other in companionable silence for a few minutes before the thought that he'd had earlier occurred to Harry again.

He sat up and looked at her. "Hey Erica, what are we? I mean, we flirt and we've kissed a handful of times, but we've never said we were dating or anything."

Erica sat up as well and looked at him. Her smile seemed bemused, like he'd said something silly. "Harry, I'm your knight, and I'm yours in every sense of the word. I thought that was obvious."

Harry blinked, processing her words, before a small blush came over him at that direct confession. He looked at her, and despite her apparent nonchalance, he could clearly see her blushing and trying not to look away from him.

Despite her poise and confidence, Erica was still a girl confessing to the guy she liked directly.

It took him a moment to recover, but once he did, Harry didn't say a word and instead reached over. He lightly grasped the back of Erica's head and pulled her into a deep kiss. Erica's own hands moved and wrapped around neck, pulling him deeper towards her. They'd kissed before, more than a few times, but this time felt different.

There were a few wolf whisles from those students nearby, but the two of them were content in their own little world and ignored them. When they pulled back, a small bit of saliva between the two of them, they smiled at each other.

"Now then," Erica said, clearly her throat. "I need to get changed, it's freezing out here." She stood up, patting herself off and looked at Harry once last time.

"A King must have his concubines of course, but I expect you to pay attention to me properly first, any other knights can come later" were the last words she said before walking away from Harry, a notable sway in her hips.

"Wait what?" Harry shot to his feet to run after her and get an answer, but she'd already been whisked off by a group of giggling girls comprised of Lavender, Susan, Hannah, and a quite Daphne.

He gave up and stopped, with Ron and Dean coming over from where they'd been talking nearby.

"Mate, still can't believe you swung that," Ron said, clapping him on the back.

"Managed to pull the girl at the top of the list," Dean muttered to himself, unintentionally giving away the fact that he had been one of those who'd participated.

"Honestly, me neither," Harry said, chuckling to the two before they all made their way inside to get changed as well.

Author's Note:

I don't know how well I did with this whole thing. Wanted to show Erica's social life outside of just Harry and how good she is at interacting with people. Official establishment of Harry and Erica's relationship, because I realized I'd been dancing around it for a while.

Figure this is a good time to clarify some stuff in regards to the harem. It is a Campione fic, so I knew from the start I was going to do one, but I didn't want it to be this massive catch em all with no development and devolve this fic into lemon after lemon. I don't even know if I feel like writing lemons in the first place, will probably just black screen it when it happens.

The harem will each have development much like Erica has so far in this story, and it will very much be a limited amount. I want the relationships to actually feel like relationships, not just an attraction to each other. Also, YURI IS NTR, so none of that will happen in this story. None of that she actually is BI and wants to try stuff with girls too BS, it's a harem centered around Harry and will remain as such.
