Chapter 20: Chapter 20: A Scholar Meets A Soldier, And It Makes No Sense!
Because of Anton's body shape and temperament, the burly man was stunned for a moment.
And because of this momentary hesitation, Anton had already reached the gate of the house.
Only then did the burly man snap out of it.
"Dammit, do something!" he shouted.
Immediately, the whole house was filled with alarms.
Downstairs, there were three rooms. One of them was a bedroom where many people were resting. The second was a chess and card room, where a group of people gathered to gamble. The third was pitch dark, the door shut tight, housing several women and children who had either been kidnapped or deceived.
As for the so-called "infirmary" that Stephen had mentioned, it was set up in the basement. Though the environment was simple, it was quite closed off and had reached the level of being dust-free to the naked eye. However, it was far from being suitable for medical treatment.
No one knew how many lives had been lost in this residential house, but so far, it had not been exposed.
At this moment, the alarm rang out.
Everyone froze in place.
"There's... a Big Mac broke in, I don't know what's going on!" one of the men in the living room, in charge of monitoring the surveillance cameras, shouted.
Big Mac?
Someone broke in?
After a brief moment, everyone finally recovered and let out a collective sigh of relief.
As long as it's not the police, everything would be fine. Since it's a Big Mac, they figured they would see what kind of Big Mac would dare to break into their lair alone!
Suddenly, everyone grabbed their weapons and rushed to gather.
Boom!
At the same time, a loud crash was heard outside.
Through the surveillance, everyone saw that it was indeed a giant!
The size of this person seemed to rival the Hulk!
And his fierce temperament was enough to show that he wasn't someone to provoke lightly!
Without saying a word, he kicked the door down with a single strike. As if that wasn't enough, he violently ripped a stainless steel door panel off and used it as a weapon.
Without hesitation, he picked up half of the door panel and charged toward the house!
"Who the hell is this?" someone cursed.
"Who provoked this? Is this a bad time?"
"We're about to start the operation in the basement, why is something going wrong now?"
"Could it be the police?"
"Are you stupid? Do the police act like this? They wouldn't break in alone!"
"No matter who he is, if he dares to break down our door, we'll deal with him!"
"F*** him!"
"..."
Most of the people in the house were ruthless criminals, and despite Anton's imposing physique and intimidating presence, they weren't easily frightened. Since the man was making a move, they saw no reason to back down.
So, in no time at all, everyone was ready to act!
"Wait a minute, don't act unless absolutely necessary."
A middle-aged man with a gentle and refined appearance spoke up. He didn't look intimidating at all, and his demeanor gave off an aura of approachability.
However, the moment he spoke, everyone in the room fell silent.
Sam was the leader of this criminal group. Usually, he was like a ghost—his presence barely noticed. To the public, he was a well-mannered teacher, but behind the scenes, he was the ruthless boss.
Though he appeared refined and elegant, he was far more vicious than any of the people present. Moreover, he was known to be swift and brutal, with several lives already lost to his actions.
It was worth noting that Sam had never left a criminal record, meaning he had successfully evaded the authorities' radar.
This only highlighted how cunning and clever he truly was.
Sam was the type who saw an opportunity in everything. And in his eyes, this hulking figure who had broken into their hideout might just be someone he could use.
Wanting to show his authority and establish his position as the group's leader, Sam decided to confront Anton himself.
He opened the door to the house and walked forward, directly meeting Anton.
"This brother, I believe you've come to us either seeking revenge, money, or something else. If you don't mind, we can talk things over."
As soon as Sam opened his mouth, his refined demeanor made him appear surprisingly gentle—not at all like a ruthless criminal boss.
He had already thought ahead. If Anton was after money, he would offer a large sum to keep the peace. If it was revenge, he would gauge the situation and step forward to negotiate. He might even endure a bit of humiliation if it meant resolving the issue.
Sam had already used this strategy countless times, playing the game in a way that benefited him. He was adept at staying calm and calculating, even when facing the most dangerous situations.
And this was one of the reasons why more than thirty people, including those who weren't present, held great respect for him.
Unfortunately for Sam, he was about to meet Anton!
There's a saying that a scholar meets a soldier, and it doesn't make sense to talk!
Anton hadn't even met them yet, but with his identification skills, the personal information of everyone in the room popped into his mind one by one.
None of them were innocent!
They were all criminals!
Even the person with the least offenses had still committed crimes such as illegal detention, abduction, trafficking, and illegal assembly.
Sam?
The first thing Anton saw was his personal details, and it was horrifying.
His record was filled with an endless number of crimes!
A hundred lives wouldn't be enough for Sam to pay for all of them!
Talk?
"Talk about this?!" Anton sneered.
With a loud clang, the two large men assigned to protect Sam were knocked to the ground by the stainless steel door Anton had swung.
Before Sam could even react, Anton grabbed him by the neck and lifted him off the ground.
All the criminals stood in stunned silence, witnessing the scene unfolding before them.
Although Anton was alone, there was a great visual impact. It felt as though he was surrounded by an invisible force, his presence towering over all of them.
"Police! Don't move! Everyone, put down your weapons and squat down with your hands on your heads!" Anton commanded.
