Chapter 414: Should We Extract the Life Origin?
Climb up and take a look!
Driven by curiosity, Jiang Yuan checked the system prompts.
Although he was attacked by poisonous gas every ten seconds, the Great Wilderness Heart Method skill shielded him perfectly. This attack couldn't break through his defense and he could slowly accumulate experience progress bars for skill upgrades.
There were no living creatures nearby, nor any threat besides the poisonous gas, so climbing the tree to see what exactly was hanging was not hindered.
The obstacles were the omnipresent spider webs and the Paperman and Paper Horse Skill couldn't be used as the corrosive toxicity of the Spiders Valley's gas was too harsh to last more than a few seconds.
So how to safely climb such a high tree while clearing out spider web obstacles became the biggest problem.
"Not being able to fly is really a big hassle." After cleaning the spider silk with scissors, he tried, finding the rough black tree trunk not too hard to climb. He could only rely carefully on the small tree-climbing skills he already knew!
Growing up in a rural area, climbing trees was a child's specialty.
In elementary school, if he occasionally forgot to hang the house key around his neck, he would climb the big tree at the door to jump over the wall. Later, becoming a fragile college student and corporate slave lacking exercise, he lost the ability to combine strength and skill, but through the grind of farming in the Wilderness World, Jiang Yuan, who now looked thin in clothes but muscular out of them, felt climbing ten meters should be no big issue.
Even if the situation above was complex enough that he couldn't touch the unknown hanging object, at least he could get closer for the system to identify it.
He acted immediately, snipping all the spider silk he could reach and quickly climbed up the dead tree trunk.
When reaching the areas dense with spider webs, he snipped away again before climbing up further.
After repeating several times, Jiang Yuan finally got significantly closer to that blackened thing.
[Corpse of the Mingshui Bee Demon: The intruding bee demon into the Spiders Valley got entangled in layers of spider webs, unable to escape before dying from poisoning. The corpse remains very well due to toxins and holds a trace of Life Origin. Extract and refine?]
[Origin: The basis for sustaining life activities, a mysterious, powerful energy that moves within every living being. Having enough Origin allows severe injuries to heal; clones with enough Origin can exist independently or even replace the original.]
"Holy crap!" Upon seeing the details, Jiang Yuan's hands trembled slightly in excitement.
This is great stuff!
Of course, he had to choose to grab and refine it instantly!
Li once mentioned during a heart-chilling system kill that the Wilderness World offers opportunities to obtain Origin. As long as one accumulates enough Origin, dual worlds can exist independently. Death in the real world can lead to revival in the Wilderness World, while death in the Wilderness World won't affect the physical self in reality.
In other words, as long as he can accumulate enough Origin, lack of a Resurrection Talisman won't matter.
At worst, wake up in the real world and re-enter the Wilderness World as a clone, continuing to accumulate Origin for dual protection.
[Currently refining remaining Life Origin, please maintain status and do not disconnect]
A large red-bordered dialogue box popped up in his view. Apart from prompts, there was a slow-moving progress bar. Jiang Yuan mused it might be because the distance was a bit far, barely within the system's "attack" range. He worried if he slipped down, the distance might prevent extraction.
Given its importance, he dared not move, hugging the tree and watching the progress bar advance slowly.
[Life Origin +0.5]
Five minutes later, the fully refined shadow disappeared. A new counter showing Life Origin appeared in the bottom right of his personal interface, with a balance of only 0.5.
"No rush, take it slow!" Although not much, at least he started accumulating, filled with enthusiasm he seized the scissors to continue cutting and moving forward.
Based on judging the empty area he had traveled through, it was likely the entrance and exit of Spiders Valley.
Now finally seeing a tree, he presumably officially entered the inside of Spiders Valley, where going deeper should present more trees, buildings, and of course, more remains from past battles.
Initially, Jiang Yuan felt apprehensive about the war's dire situation, but knowing he could extract Life Origin from remains, he wasn't scared, even a bit eager!
After cutting a path with scissors for ten minutes or so, sure enough, another dark shadow appeared to the left ahead.
[Divine Statue in front of the Spiders Valley's gate: Congratulations, you have officially entered the Spiders Valley gate.]
[Something seems to be scattered under the statue, go ahead and examine it]
"The flavor of an adventure puzzle game suddenly became so intense." Jiang Yuan muttered quietly, finding it amusing that at this point, the system still diligently pretended to be a game.
Since it provided a clue, he naturally went ahead to check, taking the chance to understand what kind of deity the Spider Race worshiped.
[Kick-down incense burner: A Magical Treasure used by the Spiders Valley tribe to worship the Lady of Spiders, boosting the Power of Incense by 20%]
[Kick-down poisonous incense ash: Leftover ash from burning incense to worship the deity, after long-term poisonous gas erosion, now can be used as a highly toxic medicine]
Jiang Yuan approached, first collecting the incense burner, then clicked to collect the poisonous incense ash used to refine the Thirteen-Flavor Antitoxic Pill. Only then did he look up at the massive, web-covered divine statue.
Everything in Spiders Valley was sealed by poison gas and spider webs, halting time here as well.
Despite all these years, the statue remained brightly colored, seemingly newly built, indicating how well the Spider Race cared for and maintained it.
The Lady of Spiders had a figure with three heads and six arms. On the front was a gentle young woman's face; the right side had a cute baby face; and the left side bore a kindly old woman's appearance.
She wore a luxurious dress swarming with various small spiders. Even from her hairpiece hung spider silk with colorful spiders.
The system didn't provide further details, but he noticed each figure had a kicked-over incense burner and scattered poisonous incense ash below, which he collected to ensure nothing was missed. He then explored the direction indicated by the statue.
[Broken Teleportation Array, proceed with repair?]
Spending another ten or so minutes, snipping spider silk made Jiang Yuan's hands sore until he finally discovered a Teleportation Array relic. Repairing needed quite a bit of material, but once finished, Transmission Scroll energy wouldn't need consumption, achieved via marking for one-click access from the Ancient Teleportation Array in the backyard forest!
"Repair! It's just some material and fifty thousand Spirit Stones, once repaired it allows anytime access." Without hesitation, he clicked to repair, watching the progress bar finish, mist disperse, and a simple Teleportation Array gleamed brightly.
Marking Spiders Valley notes well, he didn't linger and continued exploring forward.
[Corpse of Ghost-faced Spider Demon: A few steps away from escaping via the Teleportation Array, the defeated foe kept their fleeing position from mortal combat showing the war's brutality. It retains a trace of Life Origin, extract for refining?]
Jiang Yuan didn't immediately choose to refine. He cleared away the web and approached the spider demon to observe carefully.
