Chapter 195: Hu Tao Is Monetizing My Existence. [195]
"You've lost a lot of memories?"
"Yeah. There are a lot of things from before that I just can't remember."
Aether finally understood and gave up hope of asking Jiang Bai about his sister.
Even if they'd met before, there's no way someone with so many missing memories could help until those memories come back.
"How did you drive off that dragon? That biu-biu-biu attack—what was that?"
Jiang Bai was genuinely curious about Aether's fighting style.
Aether shook his head, not entirely sure himself, but he didn't hide anything.
"When I was swept up into the sky, I heard a voice. It told me it would let the thousand-year winds guide me, keep me from falling. It told me to focus on gathering the wind, to break through the clouds—and then suddenly, I just had that kind of power."
The moment he finished, Amber grew excited.
"It's the Anemo Archon! It has to be the Anemo Archon! The Archon is watching over Mondstadt from the shadows!"
The Anemo Archon was like the heart and soul of Mondstadt, and hearing this, the scout knight who'd been worried this whole time finally let out a breath.
As long as the Anemo Archon is here, nothing is truly hopeless!
"Could it really have been the Archon?" Paimon's eyes lit up.
They'd come to Mondstadt looking for the Anemo Archon, and now the Archon had personally helped them—that's already half their goal accomplished!
"Maybe it really was the Archon!" Kaeya winked.
"To control the ancient winds of Mondstadt, and speak to you across the sky—only Lord Barbatos could do something like that."
"Talk about luck…" Jiang Bai couldn't help but sigh.
I've been in Teyvat for so long, and the only Archon I've glimpsed was Rex Lapis during the Rite of Descension—and even then, I couldn't get close, let alone speak. But this guy? The moment he shows up, he hears the Anemo Archon's voice and gets their help.

Paimon turned her attention to Jiang Bai, mostly out of curiosity—and mostly because of that flier.
She'd never seen someone push funeral services the first time they met! "Returning to one's roots"—no matter how poetic he made it sound, wasn't it just advertising a burial?
It was like someone handing you an urn as you walked down the street, telling you you'd need it eventually so you might as well buy one now…
"You said you're from Liyue?"
"Yeah, just visiting Mondstadt."
"Liyue?" Aether caught the unfamiliar word.
"It's a nation next to Mondstadt," Paimon chimed in. "Their god is the Geo Archon!"
Aether nodded, taking it in.
"So… how do you float like that?" Jiang Bai asked, looking at Paimon soaring and spinning in the air. He was sorely tempted to try and pluck off the little crown hovering above her head, just to see if she'd still float without it.
And that emblem on her outfit—it looked just like the patterns on Mora, the Abyss Order, and ancient ruins. Plus, she could fly… there was no way she was just ordinary.
"Paimon's just naturally good at flying!" she said proudly, doing a fancy backflip in the air. The crown on her head didn't even budge, as if it were part of her.
"Amazing, really."
Chatting as they walked, the group soon arrived at the Knights' headquarters.
The Knights' building was enormous—not only the headquarters for the Order of Favonius, but also Mondstadt's library.
With the disaster only just past, everyone was busy keeping order and tending the wounded, so there was no one on duty at the entrance.
Kaeya pushed open the doors and led everyone inside.
Inside the office, Acting Grand Master Jean was pacing anxiously, glancing at the clock on the wall.
Stormterror was still active outside the city, and she didn't want to waste too much time here—but the hero they were waiting for was taking a while to arrive.
Librarian Lisa closed her book with a smile, glancing at the doorway.
"I hear them now. They've arrived."
"Sorry to keep you waiting," Kaeya said as he ushered everyone in.
Jean looked surprised at the size of their group—especially when she saw Klee among them—but there was no time to worry about that.
"Welcome. I'm Jean, Acting Grand Master of the Knights of Favonius." She pressed her right fist to her left chest, giving a formal knight's salute.
"I'm Lisa, the Knights' librarian." Lisa introduced herself as well, but in her usual, much more relaxed style.
Kaeya went through introductions:
"This is the hero who drove off Stormterror, Traveler Aether, and his companion, Paimon. This is our friend Jiang Bai, who helped us out earlier."
He then detailed Aether's story and what had happened so far.
Jean listened carefully, then nodded.
"Since Stormterror awakened, it's been circling the city, stirring up chaos…"
"Mondstadt's ley lines and elemental flow are as tangled as yarn after a cat's played with it," Lisa added lazily.
"For a mage, it's a nightmare. Makes your skin and your mood both worse."
Jean nodded. "If we weren't so hindered, the Knights would have more effective ways of helping you search for your sister. For now, please stay in Mondstadt while the Knights handle things."
Watching all this, Jiang Bai was struck by how approachable the Acting Grand Master was.
Maybe it was because Aether had the Archon's blessing, or because he'd helped drive away Stormterror. Or maybe she was just that helpful by nature. Still, if the Grand Master had to personally handle every missing person's case, that was an exhausting job.
"Klee wants to help too!" Klee piped up, raising her hand. As the Spark Knight, this was her time to shine.
"We'll help as well!" Aether and Paimon agreed.
"If you're short on people, I can lend a hand too," Jiang Bai added.
After all, this is a great chance to make friends with all the big names here. If I get on their good side, opening a Wangsheng Parlor branch in Mondstadt someday would be a breeze.
No one questioned Klee's combat ability, and if Aether could drive off Stormterror, he was obviously capable. Jean's eyes paused on the Vision at Jiang Bai's waist and nodded her approval.
Anyone with a Vision was someone to be reckoned with.
"Stormterror's attack on Mondstadt has actually given us a chance to strike at the root of this disaster," Jean said.
"With Lisa's detection magic, we've pinpointed the source of the hurricane over Mondstadt."
"So, what's the answer?"
"The abandoned Temples of the Four Winds," Lisa replied. "Stormterror is able to create such powerful hurricanes by drawing on the residual powers left there."
"Our objective is three of these abandoned temples!"
