HP: Supreme Potion Collector [Original Female Protagonist]

Chapter 22: Chapter 22 Detention (2)

After shuttling back and forth between the Hogwarts dungeons and towers twice a day, Orli finally returned to her dormitory, feeling as if her legs were filled with lead.

She was even too lazy to take a shower—Peeves had already drenched her on the way.

Hermione was still awake, lying on her bed with a huge History of Magic book, reading slowly by the firelight. Seeing Orli enter soaking wet, she rushed over immediately and asked incredulously:

Hermione: "What happened to you? Did Snape punish you physically?"

Orli: "Huh? No..."

Orli pulled off her robe and started changing into her pajamas while explaining.

Orli: "This was Peeves' doing. Snape just made me kill toads non-stop... I feel like I can barely lift my arms now."

Hermione: "Well, at least the detention is over. Tomorrow we can go to the library together. We still have a 5-inch essay for Transfiguration to write, and we need to find a way to earn back the points Snape deducted."

Orli: "Hermione..."

Orli flopped onto her bed dejectedly.

Orli: "I have to go back to the dungeons tomorrow afternoon. I still have half of the toads left to deal with."

Hermione: "What?! You have to continue your detention tomorrow?"

Hermione was stunned.

Orli: "Yeah..."

Orli turned her head to look at Hermione, noticing the young witch was already starting to get indignant. She quickly reached out to pat her arm reassuringly.

Orli: "Look on the bright side. He gave me some tips about the Scabies Potion tonight, about temperature and controlling the fire. Although I'm there for hard labor, at least I'm learning something. Who knows, maybe I'll learn something else tomorrow."

Hermione looked at Orli as if she were some kind of monster, and after a while, she murmured:

Hermione: "I just realized that your enthusiasm for learning is so much higher than mine."

Then, as if she had made up her mind, she pulled out some parchment and a quill:

Hermione: "No way! I can't fall behind! I need to learn from your spirit!"

Orli: "Wait, Hermione, it's almost one o'clock now..."

Orli rubbed her forehead helplessly.

Orli: "And I'm really only passionate about potions..."

On Saturday afternoon, Orli finally finished dealing with all the toads.

This time, she received a lesson on grinding bezoars, which happened to solve a system task—if she followed Snape's instructions, she would definitely succeed in the third-year level potion-making task that she had failed before!

Overwhelmed with joy, Orli spontaneously asked Snape for further guidance:

Orli: "Professor, may I ask why lionfish spines turn black when they come into contact with Horklump juice? The weedkiller I made always has the problem of being too strong, not only removing weeds but also corroding bulbs..."

As Orli spoke, her voice grew softer and softer. She could see the mockery in Snape's eyes growing more intense.

Snape: "If I remember correctly, weedkiller is part of the third-year curriculum at Hogwarts. Does Miss Waters believe that her skills are already sufficient to brew this potion independently?"

Orli lowered her head and said nothing. She no longer hoped for an answer; she just prayed she wouldn't lose more points for Gryffindor—otherwise, both Percy and Hermione would tear her apart.

Snape: "Due to Miss Waters' arrogance and presumption, I believe your detention time needs to be extended. Tomorrow afternoon at half past one, come to squeeze Flobberworm mucus. Now, get out."

Snape's cold black eyes watched her as Orli walked out dejectedly, closing the dungeon door behind her.

Ron's loud voice once again proved its worth.

By Saturday evening, when the older students had returned to the common room from Hogsmeade, all of Gryffindor knew that Orli had been given three consecutive days of detention by the Slytherin bat.

Ron: "I bet Snape is deliberately getting back at Orli because she said in class that he favors that Slytherin Malfoy."

Ron loudly shared his opinion, and Harry nodded in agreement.

Hermione: "How can he do this! We have so many assignments to write. If Orli has to go to detention even on Sunday afternoon, she definitely won't be able to finish her essay!"

Hermione said angrily, but her focus was clearly different from the others.

Ron: "Maybe you could let Orli copy your essay. Aren't you best friends?"

Ron rolled his eyes.

Hermione: "How could that be okay? You can only truly remember the key points if you write the essay yourself..."

Hermione retorted.

Ron: "See, Orli?"

Ron spread his hands and made an exaggerated expression.

Ron: "You should hang out with us instead. At least I'm willing to let you copy my essay, any one of them."

Fred: "Oh, our generous little Ronnie, are you sure copying your essay won't result in a T?"

Fred teased his little brother.

Harry: "Wait, everyone..."

Harry raised his hand weakly.

Harry: "Shouldn't we be focusing on the fact that Orli got three days of detention?"

Hermione: "Anyway, I think we must tell Professor McGonagall about this."

Hermione said seriously, turning away from glaring at Ron.

This time, everyone agreed with her opinion. Even Orli didn't object—although she was happy to get some potion tips after doing hard labor, she would prefer to have some private time to find a place to brew potions peacefully and complete system tasks. She felt like the system store panel in her head was gathering dust, while her contribution points remained pitifully low.
