Chapter 353: Chapter 353 : Hard Choice
Orion had two thoughts about just opening the Pendant and contact Merlin but this will definately change the future.
With Merlin aware of his presence and knowing what he's been though all this time, his past and this little guy's future will change more than he could understand. He already having trouble with the current timeline.
He have no idea whether changing the current known past by him was something he should do or not.
So, with much reluctance, he put down the pendant he had.
'Time to get going…
"Come on, little me." Orion put the pendant around the child's neck, where it should be and pick up the boy again. After taking the briefcase too, he started to fly up to find out where exactly he was and where to go.
Orion flew high above the clouds, the baby secure in his arms as he scanned the surroundings, trying to figure out where he was. But as he soared through the air, he suddenly felt something strange—a draining sensation, as if his own magic was slipping away from him.
Much like what he felt a little back inside the manor when Elena did that thing, still not sure what that was but he believe she was using her life force to send them to future. He has no idea what that mean honestly.
But he felt the same thing he did back then, his magic draining away.
He quickly glanced down at the infant in his arms, trying to understand what was happening. His heart skipped a beat as he realized the child was absorbing his magic, drawing it in like a sponge without any effort.
'Oi oi… it took me 5 fucking years to master this, this is cheating… you are not even 5 hours old brother….' he wanted to curse.
Orion was shocked. But before he could even think about what to do, the situation took a terrifying turn. The magical energy inside the child started to go haywire, becoming unstable.
There is a reason why the magical children develop magic slowly. In fact body can't handle this magical power. Let alone just how much this little guy just absorbed from him.
He saw the baby's tiny face scrunch up in pain, and then, without warning, the infant began to cry loudly, blood dripping from its nose.
'Holy shit…' Orion almost forget breathing when he saw the blood. It was like his got an heart attack.
Orion felt his heart drop. The child's body couldn't handle the powerful magic surging through it, and the energy was harming him instead of helping.
Alarmed, Orion quickly descended from the sky, his mind racing as he searched for a way to help. He landed near the entrance of the mansion and rushed inside, finding the nearest safe spot to set the baby down. The crying grew louder, echoing through the empty halls as Orion gently but firmly placed his hand over the child, trying to channel and stabilize the chaotic energy within him.
"Shh, it's okay," he whispered, his voice steady but filled with worry. He focused his own magic, carefully siphoning off the excess energy from the baby.
But it was hard, absorbing back magic wasn't hard, he had done it countless number of times but to being able to do it without killing the other person…that was first for him.
Orion didn't even think about absorbing the magic back from the infant in his dreams. That was too dangerous.
He just try to keep that magic inside baby stable until he find a way to save him.
Quickly putting the child down after finding a right place, he started to check upon him.
He wasn't good in this kind of things, majority of his focus was on increasing his power over the years, treating others wasn't something that he learned.
However, with the magical knowledge he was able to stablaized the chaotic magic inside the child.
But, stabilising wasn't treating, the powerful magic inside side the child will cause him no matter what.
He try to remove the magic as much as possible but things started to go for the worst.
Orion held the baby close, his heart pounding as he watched the infant's health worsen. No matter how much he tried to stabilize the child, the little one kept absorbing magic from the air around them—this was even more ridiculous than what Orion was capable of doing.
The more magic the baby absorbed, the more unstable he became, his tiny body struggling to contain the overwhelming energy. Orion had initially thought that simply taking away the excess magic would help, but it was clear now that the problem went deeper. Its not a one time thing, the child contantly was absorbing magic.
The child wasn't just absorbing magic occasionally; it was as if his very being attracted it. Orion had never seen anything like it. He would have once dreamed of having such a natural draw to magic back in his early Hogwarts days, but now he could see that it was a curse for the infant, whose small body couldn't hold that kind of power. It was hurting him more and more with each passing moment. Orion tried using protective spells to shield the child from the ambient magic, but even those were quickly absorbed, making his attempts to help futile.
Orion was beginning to panic. The infant's breathing was shallow, and his skin was pale, a faint sheen of sweat on his tiny forehead. He knew if he didn't do something drastic soon, the child wouldn't survive much longer. Desperately, he wracked his brain, searching for any solution to stop the child's uncontrollable magic absorption. He tried every spell he could think of, every charm he had ever learned, but nothing was working.
Every time he cast magic to help the child, it was just absorbed, adding to the dangerous overload.
In a moment of clarity, Orion realized there was only one option left—a drastic, irreversible choice. He would have to destroy the child's magical core. It was a painful thought, but he knew it was the only way to save him. The magical core was what allowed wizards to access and hold magic within themselves, and without it, the child would no longer be able to absorb magic. But it also meant the child would likely never be able to use magic in the future.
He remember what kind of trouble he went thought to rebuild his own magical core in the past and hesitated.
Orion took a deep breath, feeling the weight of the decision. Destroying a magical core was no small thing. But he had no time to hesitate. He could feel the infant's life slipping away with every second he delayed. He whispered softly to the child, "I'm so sorry. I promise, I'll find a way to make this right."
Carefully, he placed his hand over the baby's chest, summoning all his focus as he began the delicate process. He channeled a spell he had learned only in theory—a spell meant to dampen, even erase, the connection to one's magical core. With precision and control, Orion reached out to the core within the child, his heart aching with every step. He sent a pulse of energy to disrupt the core, breaking the connection that allowed magic to flow freely.
As he completed the spell, he felt the change instantly. The pull of magic around them lessened, the chaotic energy stabilizing as the child's body relaxed in his arms.
Or at least he thought, though the source of trouble was gone, the child was still injuried and just lost his magical core.
This was dangerous.
"Please heal in time…" Orion said with wariness clear in his tone, the situation was still not out of danger….
