Chapter 182: Practice Sessions 1, 2, and 3
Qin Miao didn't refuse, after all, it was just a few thousand bucks, and if Norris wanted to play with it, he could just lend it to him.
Even if it was lost, Qin Miao wouldn't be unable to make up for it.
Besides, since Hamilton gave it to Qin Miao, he didn't plan to take it back. Even if they talked about it, Hamilton would just laugh; it was just a fun toy for him anyway.
He briefly taught Norris how to ride the scooter.
This thing has no entry barrier. After trying it a couple of times, Norris could easily and comfortably control the scooter.
Once he got going, Norris excitedly waved to Qin Miao and then sped away down the track like the wind.
But after getting on the scooter, Norris clearly didn't consider his team staff, but of course, that wasn't within Qin Miao's considerations. He walked the track this time with Hamilton alone, and didn't bring anyone else from the Mercedes team.
However, watching Norris's departing figure, Qin Miao frowned slightly. He felt that Norris inexplicably seemed to have certain goodwill towards him, but Qin Miao wasn't sure where Norris's goodwill came from.
Nothing is difficult if you give up. Qin Miao couldn't figure it out, so he simply stopped thinking about it and went back to the car home.
Returning to the car home, back to the lounge, Qin Miao imported the data he collected on the track into his work computer and watched last season's game footage.
However, these things could only serve as a reference for Qin Miao. To really determine which were useful, he had to run them on the track to find out.
After watching, Qin Miao had nothing to do.
At this point, there was nothing else to do at the hotel either; going back would just mean playing on the computer.
Honestly, even though Qin Miao's laptop was the best-performing one available for purchase, the inherent disadvantage of laptops was still there—the size of the screen naturally limited the gaming experience, so Qin Miao wasn't keen on returning to the hotel.
Speaking of monitors, Qin Miao's eyes unintentionally landed on the 120-inch wall-mounted TV used for meetings on the second floor of the team home.
It was used for showing data or playing PPTs to meeting attendees during meetings.
Qin Miao knew a little about computer knowledge, so he tried it out and then split his work computer screen and began playing a movie on the TV.
Qin Miao had a certain collecting obsession with these things.
Whenever Qin Miao discovered a movie he really liked, he would try to download the movie resources to his computer's hard drive. It didn't matter if he didn't watch it; having it was what mattered.
He called Barber upstairs from downstairs, since watching a movie alone lasted over an hour, waiting downstairs might be boring. He simply called him up to watch a movie together.
Seeing Qin Miao in such good spirits, Barber went down to the first floor of the team home to get some snacks for Qin Miao.
Then the two stayed there till six in the afternoon, leaving unwillingly.
It wasn't that they didn't want to keep watching, but if possible, Qin Miao wouldn't mind sleeping at the team home today.
They left mainly because they were caught by the head of the Mercedes logistics department.
Originally, he thought the two were working there, but upon closer inspection, he realized Qin Miao was watching a movie with his physical trainer and nutritionist, so he directly drove them away.
The team home used an independent power supply system, especially the conference room on the second floor. Since the computers and equipment files were important, and to prevent data loss due to a power outage, the generator's power was fairly high.
After a movie session, Qin Miao went through half a tank of fuel from the main generator.
For the Mercedes team, this half tank of fuel wasn't worth much, but it increased the workload of the logistics department.
Honestly, upon learning about this, Qin Miao felt a bit embarrassed. He was just a driver and wasn't particularly familiar with Mercedes's logistical operations, so naturally he didn't know the team home had a separate power supply system.
After apologizing to the Mercedes logistics department staff, Qin Miao returned to the hotel with Barber.
Norris never returned Hamilton's scooter. Since it wasn't his, Qin Miao got so caught up in the movie that he forgot to ask Norris for it.
The next day came and Qin Miao completely forgot about it.
For Hamilton, this thing was just a larger toy. After giving it to Qin Miao, he decided not to take it back.
So the scooter just mysteriously disappeared in the paddock...
Friday.
Today the practice sessions start.
At the entrance today, Qin Miao didn't see any fans sneaking in, so he smoothly entered the paddock.
Afterward, he went to the media area before the race to be interviewed, answered some curious questions from the media, and naturally returned to the team home for breakfast.
While waiting for the race to start, Qin Miao and the Mercedes team staff continued watching Sky Sports' live broadcast, as Sky Sports had filmed the side grid winglets of the newly upgraded Red Bull car today.
