How Did I Become an F1 Driver?

Chapter 140: Gloom

After listening to Zhou Guanyu, Qin Miao leaned against the wall, frowning. He was feeling quite confused.

"I was just a bit rebellious yesterday, not following what Ferrari wanted me to learn. How did this become the talk of the town overnight?"

Zhou Guanyu was also curious, "What on earth happened?"

Qin Miao briefly explained the situation, then said helplessly, I feel like these troubles are stirred up by those at Ferrari who want to bring Sainz in.

"What's their purpose in doing this?" Zhou Guanyu wondered.

Qin Miao wasn't sensitive to these things and didn't notice anything unusual when he was at Ferrari.

You could ask him to analyze it, but he wouldn't come to any conclusions, so when facing Zhou Guanyu's question, he could only shake his head and shrug: "I don't know."

Zhou Guanyu clicked his tongue, then asked, "What do you think? Do you want to stay at Ferrari or move to another team?"

Qin Miao pondered for a moment, "To be honest, I'm not someone who likes to switch environments, and I don't really want to adapt to a new one. At this stage, I still want to see Ferrari's next move, just like Binotto said, they're currently only in talks with the other party.

But if they really sign Sainz and there's a definite result, then I'll definitely switch to another team without a second thought."

When Qin Miao said this, he was clearly somewhat disinterested in these complex maneuvers and internal political conflicts. Qin Miao really wanted to stay away, but there was no way; being in the pit lane, even if he didn't want to participate, he would be dragged in passively.

"Take it one step at a time…"

Sunday.

Qin Miao's mood was noticeably low today; he couldn't get enthusiastic about anything, and even his usual passion for racing was disinterestingly low.

Evidently, the operations of those Ferrari higher-ups had hit him hard.

However, Qin Miao knew that he had a contract with the team, and the work of a driver is different from screwing bolts in a factory.

When screwing bolts isn't fun, you can find an excuse to take a leave directly, but a driver has to show up at almost every race because each one affects their future career.

For rich people, driving a race car on a track isn't difficult.

But finding a group of people with the same driving skill level as you to race on the same track is hard.

So unless there's a serious illness that leaves them bedridden, no driver would give up the chance to participate in a race.

Qin Miao pretty much had no option of taking leave, no matter how bad his state was today, how low his spirits, he had to grit his teeth and finish the sprint race.

Honestly, when Qin Miao went for a run in the morning, he was thinking about how to skip the sprint race he had to attend in the afternoon. At that moment, Qin Miao seriously felt like driving his car straight onto the gravel pit because once it was stuck, he could just call it a day.

However, as he gradually sobered up, this unrealistic idea was tossed out of his mind.

Qin Miao still knew the importance of the situation, and after all, this car was purchased with his own money, not the team's.

Driving the car into the gravel pit would damage it, and if the undercarriage got scratched by stones, Qin Miao would have to pay for the repairs himself.

So Qin Miao could only muster up his spirits and head to the race track.

The preparation process was nothing special; because of yesterday's victory in the main race, the gloom brought by that one mistake had vanished from the team, and smiles were often seen on the team members' faces.

Sure enough, the best way to resolve conflicts is victory.

The impact of yesterday's mistake has basically disappeared completely.

But the team faced another problem.

If yesterday the issue was the team members' poor state, today it's the driver's poor state.

Qin Miao's mentality was hit hard by some of the higher-ups at Ferrari, and he had not yet recovered.

Watching Qin Miao busy warming up beside his race car, Roxin crossed his arms and chatted idly with Frankie beside him.

"Honestly, boss, are you sure you don't want to have a talk with Qin Miao? His poor state is pretty obvious." Watching Qin Miao, Frankie asked Roxin.

Roxin shook his head, "I don't think there's much to say; it's just the usual political tactics of the Ferrari higher-ups. Since Qin Miao is in this circle, he needs to get used to the dross amidst the darkness."

"Although I don't deny Qin Miao's ability and talent, it's also because of his talent that he's somewhat arrogant. Taking some blows can help him see the real side of society sooner."

Frankie replied, "Qin Miao is too naive. Going through these things for the first time, I'm worried this setback might make him unable to recover."

Roxin, although he shared this concern, replied firmly, "Even though that's possible, I choose to believe."

Hearing Roxin's firm answer, Frankie didn't continue the topic, shaking his head. It was the decision of his team leader, and as a track engineer, he had no place to intervene, so he only sighed and said, "Ferrari is becoming more and more unlike the old Ferrari. I really can't believe they would do such a thing to Qin Miao for the sake of profit."
