chapter 114
EPISODE 114
“Ms. Hee-Na.”
A handsome face suddenly pushed in.
“Oh, surprise!”
Before she knew it, Kang jin-hyeon was in her face.
Hee-na was so startled that she almost slammed the pot in her hand down on top of Kang’s head.
“You’re in trouble.
Of course, there was no way an S-class hunter’s skull would be smashed by a pot, but it was still a dangerous moment.
“Mr. jin-hyeon, you shouldn’t scare the cook, there are many dangerous things in the kitchen.”
Hee-na scolded Kang in a stern tone.
“I must have had a knife in my hand or something, and if I hadn’t been surprised and missed it, you might have gotten blood.”
After all, the kitchen was a place where delicious food was made, but it was also a place where dangerous accidents could happen.
“I didn’t want to scare him.”
Kang apologized meekly, instead of rambling on about how his body was S-class and therefore impervious to most weapons.
“I’m surprised.
But the mild apology seemed to be only the introduction.
He turned serious and began to examine her every inch of her body.
“Now that I think about it, the kitchen seems to be a more dangerous place than I thought. You should probably get some armor, just in case. Since you cook a lot, a ring would be a little awkward, but maybe a necklace or earrings would be better.”
“That’s a bit much.”
Hee-Na rubbed her hands together, sweating profusely.
“You’re telling me that I need to customize a defense item just in case something happens in the kitchen?
It was a crazy way of thinking, not something a normal person would do.
Hee-na changed the subject with some familiarity.
“It’s still a few minutes away from being ready, so why don’t you sit down……. Do you need anything? Do you want a drink of water? I’ve got some cold brewed barley tea in the fridge.”
“And…….”
Kang jin-hyeon stopped talking and looked down at Hee-na’s hands.
Hee-na was holding a teapot with one hand, and the other hand was picking bean sprouts.
He stared at the hand that was munching on the bean sprouts, which made him shake his head.
“You don’t want to eat bean sprouts?”
I didn’t think much of it because I usually ate everything without hiding anything, but I didn’t know if the bean sprouts were unappealing to me that day.
“Let me know if you don’t like them. I can add other ingredients.”
Kang jin-hyeon mumbled in response to Hee-na’s question.
“I’d like …….”
It was strange to hear him sound so unconfident, as he usually spoke without stuttering.
I glanced at his complexion and noticed that it seemed darker than usual.
“What? What did you say? Are you sick? Shouldn’t we call a healer?”
The tips of Kang’s ears flushed slightly as he spoke with concern.
“No, I’m not sick.”
“You seem to have a fever…….”
Hee-na lifted her clean hand to touch Kang jin-hyeon’s forehead to take his fever, but it was in vain as Kang jin-hyeon took a half-step back with a flinch.
“Oops.”
He shrugged as he lowered his raised hand, and Kang jin-hyeon hastily apologized.
“I didn’t avoid you because I didn’t like you at all, I just had a lot on my mind and instinctively…….”
He even stuttered.
“Mr. Jin Hyeon is weird today.
I guess the mission wasn’t the usual hard work.
It was about this time that Hee-na decided in her heart, ‘I’ll make him a samgyetang with lots of medicinal ingredients for dinner tonight.
After a series of excuses, Kang jin-hyeon finally got to the point.
“……So, do you mind if I taste the bean sprouts?”
“Bean sprouts?”
“Yes.”
“Of course, you can, why not.”
It was a ridiculously trivial request. Hee-Na giggled and reached for her chopsticks.
“Let me see, where are my chopsticks……? You must be really hungry, by the way!”
She cheerfully handed him the chopsticks, but Kang jin-hyeon’s expression was dark.
He looked like the grass was dead.
He pursed his lips with a frown.
“It’s not that…….”
“Not that?”
He blinked at the unsure-sounding voice.
And just as she began to wonder if she had misunderstood something, Kang jin-hyeon spoke up.
“Ms. Hee-na, I want you to feed it yourself…….”
“What? You want me to feed her?”
My mouth dropped open at the unexpected request.
“……Would that be difficult?”
Kang jin-hyeon’s head dropped sadly in response to Hee-na’s surprise.
At the same time, his eyes became moist. He was like a handsome actor playing a heartbreaker.
In other words, he felt very sorry for her and wanted to do anything for her.
“Oh, no, just a taste, I can do that for you!”
Hee-na frantically grabbed a handful of bean sprouts and held them out to Kang jin-hyeon.
Then she realized she had too much in her hand and put it back down.
“Eat, eat!”
I picked up another bite-sized portion and held it out to him, and his mouth opened in awe.
White, even teeth were visible between his lips.
“Thank you.”
With a quick thank you, Kang jin-hyeon bent down and took the bean sprout soup from Hee-na’s hand.
“…….”
“…….”
The sound of chewing bean sprouts rang out loudly, but otherwise, the room was silent.
Kang jin-hyeon couldn’t open his mouth because he was chewing bean sprouts, and Hee-na just couldn’t open her mouth.
“What is this……?
A corner of Myungchi’s mind tickled. It was an unfamiliar sensation.
Even the fingers that touched his lips felt hot as if they were on fire.
“What was that? What was that? Huh? What was that?
He wiped his sesame oil-stained hands on his apron and stomped his feet.
Chick, chick, chick!
The rice cooker let out a loud boom of steam, signaling the completion of the meal.
– The meal is ready. Enjoy your meal! Kukkuk♬ Kukkuk
“Ah, ah, ah, ah, you must be hungry, so I’ll finish the rice!”
Hee-na ran over and took out the whole rice cooker.
Kang jin-hyeon stayed where he was and watched what Hee-na was doing. The look in his eyes was overwhelming.
“Are you going to keep standing there?”
“If you don’t like it, I’ll go back to my seat, but I’m enjoying watching you cook…….”
There was no way I could push away the man who was smiling from ear to ear, saying that seeing Hee-na cooking made him feel like he was back to normal.
“No……. You can keep watching.”
“Thank you.”
Hee-Na waved her hands in a daze; the ingredients were ready, she knew how to do it, and there was no mistaking it.
She slathered sesame oil on a large pot. This was to prevent the rice from sticking to the bottom of the pot.
Next, I filled the pot with freshly cooked steaming white rice, and on top of that, I added the colorful garnishes I had prepared in advance.
Carrots, zucchini, bean sprouts, spinach, gochujang, etc……. I added the raw vegetable side dish I had made the day before, so there were quite a few ingredients.
I put the hot pot on the stove and heated it. It smelled savory with the sound of rice being cooked.
Meanwhile, she quickly fried two eggs. It was a special service for Kang jin-hyeon, a big eater.
Kang watched Hee-na work furiously, and when she was done, he spoke up.
“The pot is hot and heavy, so I’ll carry it for you.”
Hee-Na gladly accepted the favor.
“Ah, yes, that would be great, thank you! Here, put on your gloves…… ouch, my hands are hot!”
Hee-Na was horrified as she watched Kang’s bare hands scald the hot pot.
However, Kang’s expression didn’t change as he picked up a glass of lukewarm water and put it away.
“I have flame resistance, so this temperature won’t hurt me.”
“But it won’t be hot!”
“It’s okay, it’s just hot.”
But the sizzling pot looked very threatening.
“It looks too hot for me! Hurry up and put it down on the table!”
Hee-na almost threw the pot onto the table.
Kang jin-hyeon placed the pot on top of it.
“Are you sure your hand is okay?”
She glanced at her hands, and he held them out for her to see.
“They’re fine.”
His hands were perfectly clean, with no blisters, burns, or redness.
Hee-na breathed a sigh of relief.
“Thank God, you scared me.”
The hot water broke the awkward silence.
Hee-Na brought her cutlery and set it next to the pot.
“You must be hungry, so please eat quickly.”
“Thank you for the meal.”
The stone-cooked bibimbap was quickly eaten.
Kang jin-hyeon scooped a large spoonful of the steaming hot bibimbap and popped it into his mouth.
The smooth grains of rice chewed harmoniously with the crispy herbs. The spicy flavor of the gochujang piqued my taste buds.
“I forgot to prepare soup, so you can drink barley tea instead.”
Hee-na poured the chilled barley tea into a clear glass.
Kang jin-hyeon didn’t refuse her kindness. He lifted the damp glass and drained it in one gulp.
It was refreshing to watch the water slide down his throat.
Hee-na watched as Kang jin-hyeon filled the empty glass with barley tea.
The meal was over quickly, even though he had pressed a lot of ingredients into it.
Kang wiped the corners of his mouth with a tissue, looking like a man who had just emptied a pot of rice.
Then he said Hee-Na’s favorite thing to hear.
“Thank you for the delicious meal.”
“You’re welcome.”
Bashish laughed and clacked his chin on the table.
It was always nice to see someone enjoy something you made and thank you for it.
“By the way, bibimbap seems to have spinach grown by Hee-won’s brother. It says it’s an S-class stone pot bibimbap with special spinach.”
