Chapter 35: Loose Ends III
(Baelon's POV)
"Get to your dragon, now!" I told Aemond
Suddenly, rushing over the hill near where we were, a large group of Skagosi charged towards us.
I noticed Aemond's face go completely pale, paler than usual, as he froze. He didn't move, just stood there as the Skagosi let out vicious war-cries.
I saw one of them bulled out a shortbow and drew an arrow, aiming it right at him.
"Aemond!" I exclaimed as I reached for his arm, pulling him to me
I got in front of him, ducking my head and raising my arm protectively and felt the arrow ricochet off my gauntlet. Small splinters hit the side of my face as I straightened up.
Thankfully their arrows aren't that of great quality.
I pushed Aemond forward, "Run!" I told him
He began to run but ended up tripping, falling hard on his stomach.
"Agh!" He shouted
I sighed and drew my sword, "Get up!!" I told him as I looked back at the incoming swarm, "Go!"
I honestly doubt if it's a good idea to have the dragons burn. There's a good chance that we might get caught up in the attack should they respond. And they were quite the distance away, why did we come all the way over here? Fucking oversights!
"Brother!" Aemond shouted
I turned around to see that he had tripped again, this time his leg was completely cut up and bleeding. He probably smashed it on a rock or something, we cannot tell with this snow.
"Shit." I ran over to him and pulled him up and turned back around
It was too late, the Skagosi had reached us.
I pushed Aemond back and blocked the axe of the first one, immediately kicking him in the knee and causing him to buckle. With a swift motion, I plunged my blade into his throat and immediately pulled it back out.
The next two were a but quicker, they had simple iron swords that were swung at me with shit form. I parried them one-by-one and countered with slashes at them individually, cutting them down.
I turned to see that Aemond had gotten back up and began to limp. Off into the distance, the dragons were slowly crawling their way over.
Knowing Balerion, he would not recklessly breathe flames knowing I would be in the way. I cannot say the same about Vhagar, she is quite the moody old bitch sometimes.
Their roars were deafening and haunting but I was well aware thag stupidity was sometimes greater than fear.
I noticed as a Skagosi rushed past me, intending to go for Aemond. I parried the one who had swung his sword at me, punching him with my left fist and stumbling him.
I turned to see Aemond had dodged the Skagosi's knife and fell to the ground.
"Aemond!" I shouted
I was then pushed from behind, a large bastard who dared tackle me.
I stumbled and turned around, dodging his attack and quickly slashing at his neck, cutting him down as well. They were nothing to me; their form was shit, their weapons were shit, they were shit.
But it was this fool that worried me and after I quickly dispatched three more, I turned to see Aemond was back up again.
Then, the skagosi with the knife swung at his face and I heard Aemond's bone-chilling howl as he fell down to the ground, clutching his face. Blood poured through his fingers and down his hand; his eye was cut
"Aemond!!!!" I shouted
"AAAUUUUGHHHH!!!!" He bellowed in pain
In an instant, I rushed towards the scum who had his knife raised, trying to finish him. With such ferocity, I plunged my blade into his chest, taking him by surprise.
As I pulled my sword out, I followed it up by swinging it at his neck, decapitating him.
Without another thought, I bent over grabbed Aemond by the collar of his shirt and with one arm, picked him up. I hauled him over my shoulder in a surprising display of strength and began to block and parry blades with my other hand.
"Tch!!" I said as I felt the loud thuds on the earth and the loud growling, "Fuck's sake, Aemond!!!"
"I-It hurts!!!" He cried
"Shut up!!" I told him as I backed away
Suddenly, a shadow was cast above us as I heard the serious growling of Balerion. I looked above and saw his head from underneath.
"Okay then." I said as I stabbed a Skagosi in the throat and immediately pulled away
As I quickly ran back to Balerion's underside since he was sitting upright , I heard Vhagar's roar and her hard slamming of her wings.
This was not good for them.
"Dracarys"
Balerion then unleashed a serious torrent of flames that bathed all of the Skagosi, burning them completely.
I stopped and turned, feeling the intensity of the flames' heat as I held Aemond on my shoulder who was sobbing out of pain. We were standing underneath Balerion who was breathing flames, spraying all over the hill to ensure none of my enemies were left standing.
I looked to my side to see Vhagar next to Balerion, firing flames of her own, spraying all over the hillside and burning any stragglers. She then then turned to see the ships and fired a stream of flames towards them, destroying them completely from this distance.
I sighed as I set Aemond down, "Fucking hells…." I said,
"Wasn't this messy…"
****
"You are a fucking idiot." I said to Aemond as I held my dagger over the burning flame, heating it up
It then got up and walked back to where he sat, clutching his face as he had his injured leg extended. Using a piece of cloth as a tourniquet, I had tried my best to stop his bleeding but it required to be cauterized, both wounds.
This won't be pretty.
"S-Stop, no!!" Aemond cried as I reached him
"Shut up." I said as I grabbed a leather strap and placed it on his mouth, "Bite into it."
I then held him in place and pressed the burning hot blade against the massive gash on his leg.
"Ggfffhhh!!!" His muffled voice screamed as the scent of his burnt flesh filled the air
Vhagar let out a growl in response but did nothing, seemingly understanding the situation.
After a few seconds of cauterizing his leg, I removed the blade and immediately wrapped his leg tightly with some clean rags that I had in my bag.
"I'm no Maester." I said as I stood up and went back to the burning flame from the field of ashes that Balerion left, "But that eye is gone. Least I can do is prevent rot."
I crouched down and held it on the flame for a few seconds, watching it get red hot.
As I got back up and walked back over to him, I heard a distant roar. I looked up to see Sunfyre slowly making his way towards us.
"You have to be joking." I said as I reached Aemond
I moved his hand out of the way and he spat the leather strap out.
"B-Baelon, please! It hurts!" He cried
"Shut up!" I scowled, "You want rot on your face? You want to die?! Shut up!"
I placed the strap back into his mouth and held his head in place. I then pressed the hot blade on his wound, which was bloody and swollen, trying my best to ignore the smell.
"Gfffhhhhhh!!!!" He groaned in pain
"Easy…." I said as I finished up, "You will be fine."
I moved the blade away and quickly wrapped his face with more rags that I had, tightening it up to prevent more blood loss.
I grabbed the leather canteen and opened his mouth.
"Last of the water." I said, "Drink up."
I poured water into his mouth and watched as he gulped it down, giving me a pained look with his other eye.
"You will be alright." I told him with a smile
I felt the thud of Sunfyre landing and I stood up, turning around and walking towards Aegon who dismounted the dragon.
"What happened?" He asked as he walked over to me
"You stupid fucking idiot!" I said as I reached him and grabbed him by the collar of his shirt, "Look what you've done!"
Aegon looked at me with surprise, "What?" He asked
"Why did you goad him into coming here?!" I exclaimed
"It was a joke!" He said, "I did not think he would actually come!"
I smacked him across the face, "You fucking imbecile! He's a child!" I exclaimed, "You are his elder brother, of course he will take you serious!!!"
He stumbled and looked at me with shock, "I-I am sorry, Baelon…" he said softly
Sunfyre growled at me in response and I pointed at him, "Silence!!!"
The beast went quiet and looked at Aegon.
I pointed back at Aemond who was laying down, panting heavily, "Grab him. Take him back home, quickly." I said, "Vhagar will follow, I know she will. Go quick, fly fast, Sunfyre is faster than our dragons. Go. Now!"
Aegon nodded, "A-And you?"
"They harmed my brother." I said seriously,
"Their island burns."
