House of The Dragon-The Beauty, The Bold, And The Black Dread

Chapter 33: Loose Ends

[A/N: You should thank Marvel Rivals for being laggy for me today that I am pumping out so many chapters today. I just wanted to get Luna Snow to Captain Proficiency :(

Oh well....]

(Third Person POV)

"Did you seriously approach Prince Baelon, telling him to spare me because of all the accusations, Laena?!" Corlys exclaimed at his daughter, "With Laenor at sea, I expected my only daughter to show me some support!!"

Laena sighed and looked down, "You understand what you are doing, Father?" She said with a raised eyebrow, "Even ignoring the conspirators and not turning them in right away could be considered Treason. Daemon is one thing but did you seriously think Prince Baelon would turn a blind eye simply because our Houses are joined by marriage?"

The Lord of Driftmark paced back and forth, frustrated with what had happened the night prior. He had summoned his daughter, who was surprised at this sudden turn of events.

"That boy...." He said, "Who does he think he is?"

"He's the Crown Prince, the Heir to the Throne." Laena told him, "Not to mention, he's Daemon's favorite nephew. I recall you gladly accepting Daemon's request to marry me because you thought it would benefit. Who would have thought that it would backfire against you."

He stopped and scowled, "I am Lord of Driftmark, our House is the Wealthiest in the Realm." he said, "And-"

"And that is why King Viserys would gladly keep us as we are." She cut him off, "Father, I do agree with what Baelon told you. The only reason you are one of the most feared Houses isn't because of our Fleet, it is because of our Dragons....not yours...Ours.....the Targaryens....Be glad Prince Baelon did not take your life. He is very capable of doing something like that."

He clenched his fists, "I cannot believe this..." He said, "After everything that I have done for the realm....he would just treat me like some commoner and put me in my place?"

"I highly suggest that you don't try to make me choose between you and my Husband...." Laena told him, "Baelon and Daemon are a duo that should be kept separate when it comes to situations like these. The chaos they would cause is not ideal."

"Where is he, your husband?" He asked, "I demand that he comes and explain himself!"

"Father..." She sighed again, "He is the Prince."

"I care not!" Corlys said

The doors opened and Rhaenys walked in, "Corlys, enough." She said with a commanding tone, "I have had enough of you as of late. I do not wish for my husband be killed, do you understand?"

Corlys looked at her, "You too?"

Rhaenys sighed and looked at her daughter, "Where is Daemon?" She asked, "I asked to meet with him."

"I do not know." Laena said, "He said he would spend time with Rhaena."

Rhaenys looked down, "Hm..." she said before looking at her husband, "Listen, Corlys...the last thing we need is for Viserys and his Family to force us out simply because you are too proud to know your place, our place. Baelon is the Heir. He will be King when Viserys passes, we all know that. And when he ascends the Throne, a different Era will come. One of Peace and Order that will be enforced by his Might. Neither you nor anyone else can deny that, no matter how much you try."

Corlys looked at her, "He is a boy."

"Not anymore." Rhaenys said with a raised eyebrow, "He's grown into a Man."

"The Man who will hold the Realm's fate in his hands."

Alicent walked next to Viserys as they made their way down the hallway, "So..." She said, "Did you hear of what Baelon has been doing?"

"Yes." He said, "But pay no mind to it. He will deal with it as he would."

"Why are you not interfering?" She asked

"Because he needs this." Viserys said, "And I will not be able to stop no matter how much I try. I do admit, the situation with Lord Corlys is unfortunate."

"Where has he gone now, that boy of ours..." Alicent said

"Tying up loose ends, I hope." Viserys said as he stopped, "I just hope he doesn't get himself killed."

Alicent nodded and looked to the side, "When will we go to Dragonstone?" She asked, "To speak to Rhaenyra. About you know...."

Viserys rubbed his neck, "I have not thought of it, truthfully." He said, "But if you wish, we should go soon."

"We need to." Alicent said seriously, "You know how serious this is. And it is much more than her being moved out. You and I both know that."

Viserys looked at her, "Are you certain that your suspicions are true?"

"The Strongs have left Court abruptly recently." She told him, "And Lord Celtigar had mentioned that his son has been distant. Do you not think it is strange? Trevor and Harwin were once close. I do not like it."

"I cannot go and accuse my own daughter of something we are unsure of." Viserys said, "But very well, we shall go and speak with her."

"Good." Alicent said, "Remember that we serve the Realm, Viserys. Whatever is being planned by these treacherous scum should be stopped."

Viserys sighed, "Yes..." He said, "I suppose you're right."

"We will take Helaena with us?" Alicent asked

"Daeron too." Viserys said, "He will arrive shortly soon, I hope. We should keep him home, Alicent."

"I agree." She said, "It is time."

"Good." Viserys smiled,

"Finally, all of us together."

Helaena sat in a chair, reading a book when the doors opened, Ser Criston walking in.

"Princess." He said as he had his arms behind his back, "The Lady Laena."

Helaena looked up with a bit of surprise, "Hm?"

Lady Laena walked in, giving Helaena a sweet smile, "Princess..."

"A-Aunt..." She said softly

"May I speak with you?" Laena asked

Helaena nodded and closed the book, "S-Sure..."

Criston walked out and closed the door behind him as Lady Laena slowly walked towards the Princess.

"I must say, Princess.." Laena said as she sat down on the couch next to the chair, "Baelon is making lots of moves..."

"I do not discuss things like those." Helaena said as she shifted awkwardly, "He is a free-spirit, he does confide his decisions with me...."

"I understand..." Laena smiled, "Well, I only mentioned it because his actions will soon make major shifts. And I came to you to reaffirm our relationship, Princess."

"You are my Aunt, what is there to know?" She asked

"By marriage, but we are cousins at best." Laena said, "I want you to know that I stand with Daemon, always. And Daemon is like Baelon in a sense. He does things that he does not discuss with me."

"My Uncle is another free spirit." Helaena looked down and began to fidget with her fingers

"Yes, that he is." Laena laughed, "I haven't come to visit you lately. I am sorry about that."

"It is okay." Helaena said

"That is why I am here." Laena said, "I just wanted to check in on you, that is all."

"I understand." Helaena looked at her, "Are my cousins with you?"

"Yes." She said, "I could call for them."

"I would like to see them later." Helaena smiled slightly, "Is there something else you wanted to speak to me about?"

"If possible...." Laena started, "Could you ask Baelon to do me a favor? I know he's left the city and I do not want my Father to find out I have sought him out again."

Helaena nodded, "Of course."

Laena nodded, "It is about my Brother...."

[Skagos]

On the western coast of the island, Balerion sat. The Black Dread looked at the massive amount of Skagosi that had gathered before them, alarmed by the sudden sight.

Prince Baelon had dismounted his mount and stood in front of Balerion, facing off against the large amount of Stoneborn that were there. He was wearing his armor, his cloak fluttering in the wind as he held his helm in his arm.

He took a step forth, "Who is your leader?" he asked, "I, Baelon Targaryen, have come to discuss your terms of surrender."

The Stoneborn grunted and murmured amongs themselves, some throwing curses at the Prince, who ignored them.

Then, the small army parted and a large shaggy creature walked through. It looked like a goat, with a long curved horn sprouting from the middle of its head. Atop the creature, there was a large and muscular man who wore fur adornments. He had a large white lion's head sitting atop his own head, acting as a hood. He looked to be middle-aged, a faint grey beard that reached to his chest was clearly visible.

Baelon narrowed his eyes, "A man riding an unicorn..." he said, "Definitely a Skagosi Lord...."

The Skagosi walked his mount towards the center, several dozen meters away from Baelon. Balerion leaned his head forward, letting out a deep rumble as Baelon shifted on his feet.

The Skagosi tilted his head, his dark eyes piercing the Prince.

"You...." Baelon said, "So you are the infamous White-Mane....Leader of the Skagosi War-Tribes.....Did you come to surrender?"

The White-Mane simply spat on the ground, giving Baelon a serious glare, "Fuck you."

Baelon chuckled, "I level a part of your island and you don't think of surrendering?" He asked, "What is the reason for this?"

He looked at Baelon, "You killed my son."

Baelon looked at him with a bit of surprise, "Huh?" He said, "Oh, in the fire....your son must have been among those I destroyed."

"No." He said seriously, "You cut off his head."

Baelon looked at him, "Oh." He said, "Ohhh....so he was that person, huh?"

"I know all about it." White-Mane said, "He caught you and your Sister being...intimate.....and when he tried to take her, you killed him."

"First of all, I was not being intimate with Rhaenyra." Baelon told him with a serious scowl, "And second of all, what kind of imbecile runs up to two dragonriders and gropes one of them, expecting nothing to happen? Your son was a fool, did he get that from you? I think he did."

"You are going to die to-" The Skagosi started before being cut off by a loud dragon's roar

Baelon looked up to the sky, seeing a massive shadow in the Northern sky. He immediately recognize the roar.

"Shit, no!" He muttered, "What is he doing here?!"

Breaking through the clouds, the sight of Vhagar's green scales alarmed the rest of the Skagosi. The old dragon let out a roar that filled the air, striking fear to those who heard it.

Balerion reared his head upwards and returned Vhagar's call, letting out his own bone-chilling roar.

Atop Vhagar, Aemond Targaryen was visible, his white hair flowing in the wind. He had an excited smirk on his face as he looked down at where Baelon was.

"Let's go, Vhagar!"
