House of The Dragon-A God Amongst Men

Chapter 14: Lurking Chaos IV

(Third Person POV)

{The Red Keep, Two Days Later]

"How long has Aemon been patrolling the city?" Lady Jocelyn said as Queen Alysanne sat in front of her, "Is it not too much, Your Grace?"

They were in the Lady Jocelyn's quarters, the entire Red Keep had been quiet for the whole day as the entire City was still being swept thoroughly in search of Drakken. However, nobody has ever gotten to the point of even getting close to fighting him. This had worried King Jaehaerys and he had put even more men on the job. It has gotten to a point where they believe he has left the city but Jaehaerys was adamant that he is still there.

Now, Jocelyn was speaking to the Queen, expressing her concern for Aemon.

Alysanne nodded, "I agree." She said, "But I must say, before the incident in Fleabottom, I was skeptical of the King's concern. But now, I agree with him completely. Something is about to come and it's not good."

Jocelyn looked at her, "But is it wise to have him in risk of being harmed?" She asked, "Both he and Baelon have seen the Man that is responsible for all of this. They know what kind of danger he is."

Alysanne sighed, "Alyssa said that the Man was no Man at all." She said with a serious look on her face, "She called him a Monster."

Jocelyn nodded, "Only a Monster is capable of doing what he did." She said, "If he is directly responsible for that building collapsing."

"Your brother, Boremund, is rightfully angered." Alysanne said, "Jaehaerys wishes to hand over a culprit to stave his ire. The Baratheons are quite temperamental and quick to violence."

Jocelyn sighed and closed her eyes, "I know." She said, "Lord Boremund will want someone to take the blame for the men killed in his land."

"Whoever this person is." Alysanne said, "It appears all he wishes to do is spread chaos and havoc. Such things will not be tolerated by Jaehaerys, who will care most about keeping the peace he has worked hard for."

Jocelyn nodded, "His Grace means well, as is the way he's been treating my husband and his brother lately." She said, "Aemon is the Heir and Baelon is his dear brother. They are his sons, his pride. If he is protective of them, I would understand why."

"Hm." Alysanne said with a smile, "When you bear Aemon's children, you will understand how I feel, Jocelyn. My poor children were hurt by this person, this cruel man. Something must be done."

As they spoke, the doors opened and a couple of servants walked in, bringing in tea.

"Your Grace, My Lady." one of the servants said as she set the cups of tea down, "Do you need anything else?"

Alysanne shook her head, "No, thank you."

The servants bowed slightly and walked away, leaving them alone again. The Queen reached for her cup and began to blow on it as it was steaming hot.

Jocelyn looked at her, "Speaking of bearing children." She said while slightly blushing, "Aemon and I have been speaking. We thought of a name should we have a girl. I wish to ask for your approval."

Alysanne raised her eyebrow as she took a sip, "Oh? By all means, go ahead and tell me." She said with a smile

Jocelyn nodded as she reached down for her cup, "Yes. If it is a girl-" She started before noticing something, "Hm?"

She looked at her cup and noticed that there were faint ripples on the tea, which was emitting steam. She blinked and stared at it for a few seconds, wondering what could be the cause.

"Jocelyn?" Alysanne said

"Uh..." Jocelyn lifted the cup and brought it up, "Y-Yes....if it's a girl, I would like her name to be Rhaenys."

"Rhaenys Targaryen?" Alysanne said with a smile, "A wonderful name. I approve. My granddaughter will be as beautiful as my Grandmother was."

Jocelyn smiled and took a sip from the tea, "Yes...." She said, "Hm....this tea is awfully sweet...."

"Is it?" Alysanne said with a raised eyebrow, "Did you ask for lots of sugar?"

Jocelyn shook her head, "No, but it's good." She said, "I like it."

She then kept drinking it.

Alysanne then heard a faint thud in the distance. She looked up and scanned the room, seeing that nobody was visible. The windows to the chambers were open, allowing a faint breeze to blow inside.

"Hm...." She said as she sat there, "Must be nothing...."

"Probably the wind..."

**********

On the lower floor of the Red Keep, in front of the main stairs and underneath a massive chandelier that hung from the ceiling, a couple of lords were discussing some things.

"His Grace has had the guards and the City Watch on high alert these past few days and night." one of them said, "Is it not too much?"

The other nodded, "I agree....he even barred the Princes from leaving the Keep." He said, "Save for Prince Aemon, who can only ride around the city on horse should he only help with the search. Who is this person responsible for all this chaos? He has the King on the last of his nerves?"

"Keep your voice down." another said, "If His Grace hears you, he will begin to suspect that you're responsible?"

"Me? How can i cause a building to collapse???" The short lord said, "It is impossible!"

"I know." the tall one said, "Which makes all of this all the more ridiculous!"

As they began to speak among each other, something was watching them from the shadows atop the stairs. Something that had managed to sneak into the Red Keep with little to no effort. Something so dangerous that would decide their fates.

Drakken leaned on the railing of the stairs as he tilted his head, staring at them. They did not show any signs of noticing atop them.

"They're nobles? Holders of high-position in this place?" He said, "Pathetic."

He looked up at the chandelier, seeing that they were right below it. The thing also seemed to be large and heavy enough to crush a single person and possibly multiple should it fall at that height.

Drakken then smirked, "Heh."

He flicked his wrist and suddenly, the chain connected to the chandelier was cut in two. It fell down, crashing right on top of the Lords, crushing them. The crash was so loud that it could have been heard through the majority of the Red Keep. The sound of crushed bone was disturbing but it echoed through the hall ways as there were mere grunts in response from the Lords.

A servant girl had been walking right by when this happened and she dropped the basket of fruit she was holding, letting out a panicked yell.

Within a few seconds, some guards ran into the scene, shocked to see the sight of a massive chandelier crushed a couple of Lords.

Drakken turned around and walked away, chuckling to himself, "Never gets old." He said as he snuck away into the shadows, "First, a couple of lowborn...now some highborns...."

"Ah...bunch of ants."
