Chapter 65: Noldrei: Mei, You Also Want to Be a Future Person, Right?
"What is this thing? You said you found it while digging the foundation in this city? What did you use to dig the foundation?"
Noldrei curiously looked at the black cube in his hand. He couldn't see through it for the time being.
Later, when he found a place with no one around, he would just smash it.
"Titan Mech. Advanced Type 'MR-01 TITAN'. It's a tool specifically designed to balance combat and production efficiency."
Cocolia briefly explained what she had brought. This thing was made with Raiden Mei's family's money.
Noldrei temporarily ignored how Cocolia was able to use double quotation marks like that. He was very curious about what this thing in his hand was.
Right now, what he did most was protect the house he had gotten from the old man.
As his first base in this world, it was a historical artifact that needed to be protected for future generations.
In ten thousand years, he would have to let people visit the residence of the Emperor of Nagazora.
"Is there anything special about it?"
"It has some Honkai energy. It feels like it's something from the previous era." Cocolia felt that she didn't have the ability to control this thing, so she didn't hesitate much when she offered it up.
If Noldrei couldn't control it, then she, Cocolia, wouldn't be able to control it either.
Anyway, it was dug up in the Far East, in Schicksal's territory. It was just a matter of passing the trouble back to Schicksal.
Anti-Entropy and Schicksal had almost turned the Far East into a garbage dump for their troubles. Everyone who came wanted to pass the buck.
"Where did you dig it up?"
"It seems to be from a dilapidated shrine nearby. It was collapsed by your and Tesla's fight. I just cleared out the underground area there."
Noldrei didn't dwell on what use the shrine was. Even a righteous future person like him was being treated as an evil god by the locals. One could imagine what kind of things the humans of this era would worship.
It was probably just some broken thing inside this black cube.
"Forget it. If it's not a big deal, just throw it to Raiden Mei. After Rita comes, talk to her about Raiden Mei's father. Has there been any progress recently?"
"It's not difficult to get Raiden Ryoma out. It just takes a bit of money." Cocolia didn't stop Noldrei from bringing Raiden Ryoma over.
At this point, Raiden Ryoma was useless. Since Noldrei controlled the Herrscher of Thunder, no matter who the Herrscher of Thunder was, Raiden Ryoma couldn't change the situation.
Instead, he should try to ask Noldrei to change Raiden Mei back.
"A bit of money? Didn't you recommend our new gene technology products to them? As far as I know, you should have a lot of experimental humans, right..."
Noldrei suspected that Cocolia had secretly pocketed his labor results.
"No, no, they wanted to ask about the specifics of other parts. Like, whether this free skin color potion has a lifetime version."
Cocolia's question made Noldrei a little confused. He asked, puzzled, "What do they need that for? As far as I know, after selling this stuff, many people usually become a different race for a while, and then they quickly get tired of it and return to their original state. Why do they need a lifetime version? Even in your local gacha games, it's mostly a monthly membership system. There aren't any lifetime gacha games. Besides, what's so good about a human skin that you need a lifetime gacha for?"
Cocolia coughed lightly and said cautiously, "What I mean is, we sell the lifetime version directly, without giving them the three-month version. That way, we'll get investment from American arms dealers."
"What's going on...?"
Now it was Noldrei's turn to have question marks pop up over his head. How did they suddenly get investment from arms dealers? Was this arms dealer you're talking about actually Anti-Entropy itself?
Noldrei quickly figured out the situation.
"Are you guys trying to stir up internal conflicts in the US, and then Anti-Entropy will sell weapons and make a huge profit?"
"Huh? What? You can do that?"
Cocolia was shocked. She had thought that Anti-Entropy didn't have any weapons sales. Because many of Anti-Entropy's equipment were used to fight against Schicksal and the Honkai.
Noldrei's words had opened a new Pan-American highway to hell for Cocolia.
Noldrei said angrily, "You should do this kind of thing secretly. I'm doing legitimate human business. I'm trying to drive the progress of human gene technology. You primitives are just thinking about these useless things!"
He thought that his plan to deliberately make the primitives look bad had been exposed, so he pretended to be angry to try and get away with it.
Cocolia was pleasantly surprised. She hadn't expected that Noldrei actually had a lifetime version.
"How about this, you can sell this lifetime version cheaply. Just say it's a low-quality version researched by Anti-Entropy. Don't make too much money from it. Once you use this potion, you'll never be able to use the potion to change back. Using it a second time will turn it into poison and kill you instantly."
Noldrei quickly prepared the lifetime version and even thoughtfully added anti-piracy restrictions.
Cocolia carefully accepted the new version of the free skin color potion that Noldrei gave her.
She felt like a cultist who had just received a blessing from an evil god.
'I'm just too good of a person.'
Compared to the moral standards of a future person, Cocolia felt that she had received a high moral commendation.
Cocolia left with the new item. She now had the belief that she could make a lot of money. Her confidence in getting Raiden Ryoma out had also skyrocketed.
If she couldn't get Raiden Ryoma out with this kind of thing, then it could only mean that the American capitalists were blind.
After Cocolia left, Noldrei called for Raiden Mei.
He found that this Raiden Mei was a bit strange. Recently, everyone had been quite cautious around him, but only Raiden Mei didn't have any sense of boundaries.
Even Kiana would often complain about his actions and words.
Given Raiden Mei's friendly attitude towards future people, Noldrei decided to help her father join the imperial army.
"I see you're quite tired from cleaning the house every day, and you don't clean it very well either. Anyway, it doesn't make much of a difference to me. Do you need me to install some sensory organs and motor organs for you?"
'That's really not necessary.'
Raiden Mei seemed to have imagined herself covered in tentacles. She didn't think she should agree to such a thing.
"I've researched a new method. You primitives have some conservative ideas about your own bodies. We can just keep the skeleton and the appearance of your skin. When you need to use new limbs, you can just change them out from your body. I just remembered, we can also use something like sticky skin to replace it..."
Noldrei spoke with great enthusiasm. He looked at Raiden Mei expectantly and said, "I think you're the most obedient of all my subordinates. You must also want to see humanity evolve sooner and see the future world with your own eyes, right?"
Raiden Mei suspected that he had misunderstood something. She was nice to Noldrei simply because the people who bullied her at school were too bad.
In comparison, he gave her food and drink, took care of her, gave her a quiet place to study, and even rescued her father...?
'Noldrei, he does seem to be quite nice to me.'
Raiden Mei was a bit conflicted. She didn't know if she should agree to his conditions.
Besides her, it didn't seem like there were many people who genuinely wanted to listen to Noldrei.
