Chapter 942: Linh-2

I remembered that date clearly, it was middle of july of the year '07. The logical world of computers was exactly what I needed to give me a purpose to do anything, something that finally got me excited throughout the day.

The complexities of humans that was so much to bear for a so called genius, turned into an obsession to learn a much more simpler language, how machines interact. Maybe because my village was poor or because there wasn't much technical innovation presence in the country, especially not in the rural area where I lived.

The only logical thing to do was to move, I asked my caretaker and he happily sent me away. Next year was a blur, most of the people I interacted with, I knew nothing about. They said that I would become the next computer wizard propelling the country to a new height.

There were also others of 'similar' talents but they could never compare to me who barely talked. I was way past it but still I always answered them truthfully. Sometimes they would make faces, many times I was even yelled out but I always believed it was best to be truthful because that was one thing I learned from my mother.

She was unhappy with me so she sent it away. She was true to her feelings and never contacted me again. I only told them what I truly feel about them, they were lousy at best making common mistakes. On few occasion, I even found myself getting ridicules by them. They even stole my notes after that I ceased writing. It's not like I need it, I remembered everything.

All the things I saw was still as vivid as yesterday's dream in my mind. Soon, they opted to use the same tactics like some of my 'friends' back home. Honestly, I never understood why they were so interested in me. I never bothered them so they shouldn't care about me right? But the reality was completely different.

I went on about minding my own business for a year and half before I was sent away again. This time, I didn't even know where I was going. They promised me to give me more materials and better equipments for my studies so there was no harm in following them.

After all, I didn't really have any family member to begin to of course, it's not like I care about such things but for others, family mattered a lot.

For me, it was just a way to pass on your genes for future generation. Some had strong bond but in substantial cases, the same family would turn their backs on their own blood. The saying blood is thicker than water might be true in the literal sense but it didn't make any notable contribution to the dynamics of real families.

Next thing I know, I was meeting with people who were 'similar' to me. It was a surreal feeling like meeting people who understood me. They were quiet and reserved like me and some even went through same events like me.

A total of twelve of us were brought in to work for someone important. At first it was exciting tackling difficult tasks when they gave us some hard problems. That's when I truly began to accept them as one of my own, they were equal to me some were even better and I learned a lot of new things from them.

For someone like me, the place was heaven as other people put it. I didn't need to worry about anything else just immersing myself in work. We seldom had freedom to explore our surroundings but it's not like we wanted to go anywhere. Your next chapter awaits on empire

After a couple of months, we were transported again. This time to a much more grim place, our condition also deteriorated a lot. We were made to work like slaves and some of the things we did, we were not proud of it but what can a bunch of young kids do? If we defied their orders, they would hit us continuously to make us understand what was at stake.

I was never the one to believe in afterlife, I don't even care what happened to me but I knew that I didn't want to die. It's not that I was afraid of death but I wanted to explore the world, my curiosity was the only thing that keeping me focused so I did as they told me.

We were part of some elite hacker group working to please our 'master' as they crudely put it. I did try to sneak out the tough firewall system but unfortunately, we soon understood that they had taken our research and built a perfect cage around us to keep us away from the real world.

The sophisticated programme was engineered in such a way that any deviation would result in overseers to know our exact footprint which would lead to another beating. After couple of times, we all gave up and focus more on surviving.

Our group consisted of three girls and nine boys, after couple of months we were so tired that we didn't even had any will to defy our captors. We would work till midnight than go back to sleep for six hour than get up and get to work again. Few people among them started adjusting to the routine as all of liked a streamlined approach to our day to day life but some of them started getting sick.

I did read about how it was hard for some of us with this condition to take care of menial chores. If we voiced our complain it would only be met by a demeaning cough by the guards but that didn't stop me from doing just that.

I was thrown into a cell with few strange women who looked much worse than me. They were very frightened by my appearance but when they saw that I was a girl they soon took me under their wing. It went on for couple more times because I was stubborn than one day it all changed!
