Hollow

Gifted newcomers

After Lucifer silhouette vanished up at the second floor, the buddies of the man which Lucifer threw rushed up and began to patch him up. Their actions seemed to be the spark which caused the silent hotel to burst into Clamor.

"he's so strong."

"Yeah, who knows how many implants that fucker has in him. I won't be surprised if he has metal bones."

"He must be pretty confident to carry no weapons besides that armour."

"Dammit, another guy's going to leap ahead of us as well."

The scattered conversations were filled with awe, surprise, and fear.

They all knew that Lucifer was not an ordinary person.

The first reason for that was his impressive equipment. Full military grade body suit was hardly cheap, and one would need to have gone on many gigs — in other words, be an experienced merc and street rat — in order to purchase it. One would need to be at least a silver star in order to accumulate enough capital for such a feat.

However, some people inherited their suits from their predecessors, or found those suits on the battlefield or in ruins.

That was why they wanted to take a measure of his ability. Everyone here was a comrade and a competitor at the same time. They all wanted to know the strength of any newcomers. The circumstances from just now had occurred in the past as well, over and over again.

The truth was, everyone here had experienced this sort of thing in the past.

However, none of them had passed the test so easily before. In other words, that pair of black-star mercs…They would be very strong, either as rivals or allies. Everyone here was fully convinced of that.

A person sitting quietly in the corner of the lobby called someone using his Neurochip.

This person was wearing a long trench coat which hid most of his body alongside a metal mask hiding his mouth and nose, only his eyes were revealed and it seemed weird.

He had no eyebrows but that could just be a personal fashion choice.

The person on the other side of the phone picked up:

"Hello? Who's this?"

"Number 220."

"Oh, what is it?"

"I'm in district H. I think I've found someone with potential."

"Oh?" The person on the other side seemed interested.

"Someone new, huh? Did he survive?"

"Yep."

The person on the other side hummed.

"How strong is he?"

"Strong enough to lift a man with one hand and throw him through the air."

"What? That's pretty good. Any visible implants?"

"Nope."

The person on the other line was silent for a while.

"....No implants?"

"Yes."

"That's quite unusual. No implants, but still strong enough to lift a fully grown man in complete gear? How strange…"

"Are they strong enough to take down cyborgs?"

"I don't think so." The person on the other end of the line was silent for a moment, thinking carefully.

"Observe them for now."

"Yes sir."

The call suddenly ended.
