Chapter 75: Chapter 76: The Bathroom Is Not a Battlefield
"Special training for graduates and outstanding students..."
Sarutobi Hiruzen contemplated for a moment before saying, "I think, Moon Yue, you are underestimating your abilities. Let's take this further—include the newly graduated Genin in your training program and let those interested join voluntarily."
He smiled at Moon Yue. "What do you think?"
"If the Third Hokage recognizes my abilities this much, I will give it my all," Moon Yue replied respectfully.
Moon Yue wasn't worried about managing more students; in fact, he hoped for hundreds to join.
He had deduced that the number of students during a lesson affected the teaching rewards he received. This explained why teaching at the academy earned him rewards, but working with smaller groups like Obito's team didn't.
Gathering all the fourth-year students, outstanding students from other classes, and some newly graduated Genin would easily create a group of over 300 people. Moon Yue was curious if teaching rewards would increase with that scale.
"If you manage to pull off this training and enhance the students' and Genin's abilities, you won't have to wait till the end of the year. Once the training ends, you'll qualify to be promoted to Tokubetsu Jonin," Sarutobi Hiruzen remarked with a satisfied smile.
If Moon Yue could replicate the results of Class 1-A's training across the board, Hiruzen would even consider making him the head of the teacher corps. However, at that point, he'd need to sit down with Danzo to discuss Moon Yue's origins.
After all, while a teacher could be a Root member, the head of the teacher corps could not.
"I will inform the academy to cooperate with your plans. You'll lead this initiative," Sarutobi concluded.
Moon Yue expressed his gratitude and then proceeded to the backyard to begin training Asuma for the weekend.
"Asuma, is this training plan going to be real?" Asuma asked curiously, having overheard parts of the earlier discussion.
"If the Hokage trusts me this much, I can't let him down," Moon Yue replied with a smile.
"I think the old man just wants free labor. An entire grade's students plus newly graduated Genin—teaching so many people will be exhausting," Asuma grumbled, feeling indignant for Moon Yue.
"Also, he didn't even mention how the wages would be calculated during the training period. If it's the same as usual, you'll be at a loss."
Hearing Asuma's words, Moon Yue thought to himself that if Asuma were his disciple, his trust level would likely be very high. After all, he was already siding against Sarutobi Hiruzen.
"I didn't become a teacher for the money; I just hope to help students improve," Moon Yue replied with a gentle smile.
If anyone else said this, Asuma would've dismissed it as pretentious.
But when Moon Yue said it, it sounded natural to him.
"If you're really going to do this training, I'll bring my teammates along. We'll learn a lot from you," Asuma promised.
Asuma was a newly graduated Genin this year. Compared to his current Jonin teacher, Asuma felt Moon Yue's teaching abilities were far superior. Every weekend training session left him feeling accomplished.
"Kakashi, let's have a youthful and passionate spar!"
"I get it, but can't you at least wait until I'm done bathing?" Kakashi, lying in a tub, stared blankly at Might Guy, who had suddenly barged in.
Kakashi wondered how his friend's timing could always be this bizarre.
"I was training during the day, so I had to come at this hour," Might Guy explained earnestly.
"Fine, but can you leave for now?" Kakashi asked, exasperated.
As Might Guy slowly exited, he turned to glance back curiously, prompting Kakashi to throw a bottle at him.
"Next time, I'm setting traps at the bathroom door!" Kakashi fumed after his bath.
Ignoring the warning, Might Guy clenched his fists and shouted with fiery determination:
"Kakashi, let us battle with all our strength this time!"
"Fine, but let's take it to the yard. I hope your skills match your enthusiasm," Kakashi replied nonchalantly.
"This time, I've improved! If you're careless, you might lose," Might Guy declared confidently, giving a thumbs-up.
"Didn't you win the academy's top rank just by showing up?" Kakashi quipped, unfazed.
Out in the yard, their eyes locked as they nodded in unison, signaling the start of their battle.
"Leaf Great Whirlwind!"
Might Guy charged with impressive speed, landing a whirlwind kick that caught Kakashi off guard. Kakashi hadn't anticipated this level of speed, and though he managed to block with his arm, he was forced back a few steps.
Might Guy pressed the attack, maintaining an aggressive rhythm to prevent Kakashi from using any jutsu.
But Kakashi wasn't Obito; Might Guy quickly found himself outmatched in taijutsu and losing ground.
"Leaf Whirlwind!"
Kakashi countered with his own whirlwind kick, sending Might Guy flying before teleporting behind him with a kunai at his throat.
"Kakashi, your 'Leaf Whirlwind' seems... off," Might Guy critiqued earnestly.
"If it works, it works," Kakashi replied, sheathing his kunai.
He had only mimicked Guy's moves a few times and wasn't aiming for perfection.
Though Kakashi intended to frustrate Might Guy as payback for invading his bath, Guy's reaction surprised him.
"As expected of my rival! You're amazing!" Might Guy exclaimed with pride.
Kakashi was at a loss for words. From the way Might Guy was beaming, you'd think he had won.
"Next time, I'll be even stronger when I challenge you!" Might Guy promised, running off to train.
"Guy's growth has been astounding lately..." Kakashi mused, watching him disappear.
Today's fight had genuinely impressed Kakashi. That opening kick was something the old Guy could never have pulled off.
