Hogwarts: The Unscientific Wizard (TL)

Chapter 495: Chapter 495: Hogwarts Opens and Focuses on Key Points

"Andy, get up!"

Early in the morning, Andy struggled to get out of bed amid Isabel's relentless shouting.

"Hah!"

Andy half opened his eyes and yawned.

He had stayed up late chatting with Grindelwald last night, and it was already past midnight when he went to bed.

And now...

Andy glanced at the alarm clock on the bedside table.

It was only a little after seven!

He had slept for less than five hours... Help!

After a long pause, Andy cast a spell, got dressed, washed up, folded the quilt, and then staggered all the way downstairs, where he leaned against the sofa and continued to doze off for a while.

He was truly sleepy.

But he had also gained a lot.

Especially in the field of dark magic, Grindelwald had his own unique insights, which allowed Andy to see the true charm of dark magic...and, of course, its dangers.

Andy has always studied dark magic on his own.

In other subjects, at least there are professors to teach the basics, but in dark magic... Hogwarts really doesn't teach it.

In fact, there's nothing wrong with self-study.

Voldemort's dark magic was self-taught.

Grindelwald was also expelled, so he didn't even have a student status.

Cough!

Anyway, with guidance, you can avoid a lot of detours.

At least, that's what Andy thinks. He has a new understanding of dark magic.

Before today, Andy always thought that white magic was about exploring and understanding the world, while dark magic was about analysing and interpreting one's own life and soul.

One explores outwardly, the other inwardly.

However, when exploring the human self, some experiments may seem very evil, which is why they are called 'dark magic' and have become taboo in the magical world.

Of course, in different eras, how mainstream society defines dark magic is also very different.

In this era, many magics based on 'negative emotions' are also classified as 'dark magic'.

But Grindelwald obviously had a different opinion.

When he was young, he didn't feel it, but as he grew older, Grindelwald realised that he may have been blinded by dark magic when he was young.

He became increasingly cold-hearted and more and more irritable and extreme. As soon as something minor didn't go his way, he would become impatient.

These are the after-effects of learning dark magic.

In Grindelwald's view, mind control magic, and magic can also pollute the mind.

When you use a killing curse with a strong desire to kill, the curse will 'strengthen' this desire and engrave it deep in your soul.

Over and over again.

Until the soul is completely plunged into the abyss of darkness.

This made Andy even more vigilant against dark magic.

However, human nature is inherently divided into good and evil. One cannot be completely evil, nor can one be completely good.

Good can overcome evil, but evil cannot be eradicated.

'It's time to practice dark magic,' Andy thought to himself.

In the system panel, the 'Will' attribute had reached six points. Such a high level of willpower was enough to provide a certain degree of immunity against the adverse effects of dark magic.

'Dark magic…'

'I can ask Grindelwald for advice.'

***

Christmas passed quickly.

On the night of 29 December, Andy completed the second dark magic transfiguration ritual.

On 5 January, Andy completed the third dark magic transfiguration ritual.

This Christmas holiday marked the beginning of a new chapter for Andy.

In addition to the 'talent point adding system' that came with reincarnation, Andy obtained the second golden finger of his life—the portable grandfather.

As the main character with two cheats—Andy Collins—he felt that his future was bright. During this time, Andy and Grindelwald talked about everything from magic transfiguration to dark magic, and from dark magic to the situation in the magical world.

They talked about everything under the sun.

Andy recorded his conversations with Grindelwald every day, partly to check if the old guy was leading him on and partly to summarise.

The old guy was not only highly skilled in dark magic, but he had also been the leader of a criminal organisation. During his years of travelling across Europe, he met many interesting people and saw many things, and he knew a lot of ancient secrets.

All of this provided Andy with new inspiration.

Although Andy didn't make much progress in terms of his own abilities during his two-week holiday, his horizons and knowledge were greatly broadened.

A lot of previously complicated magical knowledge now seemed clear and obvious to him.

Andy felt that he had changed a lot!

Moreover, this change came from within.

In addition, Andy also found time to go on a date with Hermione twice.

The first time they went to the Muggle library to look up information, and the second time was just a pure date.

On January 6th, Hogwarts began.

Andy once again boarded the Hogwarts Express.

With a click.

Andy pulled open a compartment door, "This one will do!"

While saying this, Andy waved his hands lightly, and the two suitcases flew automatically onto the shelf.

"It really looks like you're casting a spell without a wand."

Hermione praised, "You're getting really good at it."

Andy raised an eyebrow and laughed, "Practice makes perfect...and it looks pretty cool."

Hermione looked at Andy and suddenly said, "You seem a little different."

"Me?"

Andy laughed and asked, "How?"

"Well..."

Hermione pondered for a moment and said, "I remember before the Christmas break, you were still troubled by the matter of Obscurus. At that time, you...were a bit anxious."

"And now?" Andy asked.

"Now you seem more natural."

Hermione asked curiously, "Has the problem that troubled you been solved?"

Andy shook his head. "It can't be solved this quickly!"

The emotions that gave life to Obscurus might not be set in stone.

But finding a replacement...wasn't that easy.

"So, you..." Hermione trailed off.

She didn't think Andy would give up so easily.

"It's no big deal!"

Andy said with a shrug, "I'm still young; I can always find a solution later."

Hermione was relieved to hear this. "That's great! I thought you were going to carry on with the experiment regardless."

"Andy, do you know something? When I was dreaming, I dreamt that you were eaten by the Obscurus and you died a painful death at the end!"

Andy: "…"

How am I supposed to respond to that?

"First of all, I'm honoured to meet you in your dreams," Andy said, winking at Hermione.

Hermione's eyes brightened.

Andy was also relieved. Good, the main message has been conveyed.

"Secondly…"

Andy continued, "Dreams are the opposite of reality."

"If you dream that I've been attacked by an Obscurus, then it means that I've successfully controlled an Obscurus in the future."

Hermione raised an eyebrow and said, "Dreams are the opposite? This is not only scientifically unfounded; it also violates the rules of magic. Andy, where did you read that?"

Andy: "…"

You're quite good at spotting the crux of the matter, too!
