Chapter 23
Since my 6th birthday, when I began to take initiative, a lot has happened and many changes have occurred.
But there was one thing that never changed.
That was my mindset to try to maintain a fairly regular lifestyle.
“Hey, Mom. It’s 7 o’clock now, so I’m off to exercise.”
“Okay~.”
Simply put, it means going to bed at the same time and waking up at the same time every day.
If I were to say it in a way that sounds impressive, I would say I live each day according to a prearranged schedule.
Still, it seems to have had its effects.
Considering I’ve never caught even the flu, which everyone inevitably gets at least once.
Like that famous doctor on TV said, a structured lifestyle greatly aids in health management and conditioning.
On top of that, thanks to doing various minor exercises, I’ve started to show some semblance of abs these days.
As for my singing lessons with Doubly.
There wasn’t anything particularly different about the acting academy I started attending when I entered elementary school.
Every week, I headed to Doubly’s studio or the acting academy at the same time on the same day for classes.
However, what still has me worried is.
“Hello. I’m Lee Ha-eun, and I’m going to attend acting classes from today─”
“Hah, who here doesn’t know your name?”
‘…Is that a compliment or an insult?’
The child actors under Luna Entertainment don’t seem to think very highly of me.
They’ve already been caught gossiping about me when they’re huddled together.
But no matter how I think about it, I don’t believe I’ve done anything to make them dislike me.
When I asked Min Da-yeon, the closest person I know who can talk about such things.
“They’re just jealous. Didn’t the director take you with him when he auditioned for that neighbor uncle?”
“What’s that supposed to mean?”
“Sigh… Are you really asking because you don’t know, or are you pretending not to know?”
“What’s wrong with the director bringing his own agency’s actors?”
“Clearly, he favors you, Ha-eun. That kind of kindness isn’t given to just anyone. So, do you think you look good in their eyes?”
I got the answer that those kids are being territorial.
It seems they’ve been annoyed ever since the day I caught the director’s attention shortly after joining Luna Entertainment.
I couldn’t help but feel a bit unfair about it.
The neighbor uncle audition had already been confirmed regardless of my wishes.
I just went because they told me to, and I worked hard like I usually do.
“…Would saying this just make me look more pathetic?”
“Why are you asking if you already know, you fool?”
Anyway, it seems difficult to become friends with those kids for now.
For the time being, I decided to just focus on my acting classes.
So, after somehow finishing my classes and returning home.
Preparing for the audition for the young lead role in [You Came From the Stars], scheduled for a few days later, has become a part of my daily routine.
I also made sure to catch bits of the “Daramji” broadcast that usually starts late in the evening and continues until I go to bed.
No, I had to watch it at least a little.
Because…
“BJ”
Daramji (0ekfkawl0)
“Manager”
D.A (eldkdlqslek123)
‘…How did it come to this?’
One day, suddenly, Daramji promoted me to a broadcast manager.
Of course, now that it’s a full-fledged corporation, I’m not the only one managing Daramji’s broadcasts.
But like the other managers, I didn’t feel confident in handling chat management and such.
So, on the very day I got the manager privilege, I asked to be sent back to my normal viewer days.
“Umm, is it because of my original intentions? I thought if I didn’t give you the manager role, you might not work as hard on the broadcast anymore.”
[D.A: You seem to be working hard enough already....]
“Anyway, you don’t have to manage the chat like the other Dobby’s. Just hold on to it. It’s comforting to see your nickname there.”
In the end, my request was denied.
It seems they view my nickname as a kind of talisman.
Strictly speaking, it was practically impossible for me to join every time Daramji went live.
Yet for some reason, I felt compelled to be there during the times I had been watching from before.
One way or another, it’s fortunate that Daramji has some level of interest in me.
Given that I still hadn’t given up on my dream of being a VTuber, it would be better to maintain a good relationship with Daramji…
But perhaps because Daramji has started remembering my nickname differently from my original plans…
I began to wonder if this was okay.
Of course, there’s nothing particularly problematic about it right now.
Thinking about it, it might not be a bad idea to refer to Daramji’s broadcasts and plan how I should conduct my own in the future.
Thus, I prepared a separate notebook to reference Daramji’s broadcasts.
I noted down what kind of situations led to which types of energies.
Or, simply how to deal with so-called toxic viewers.
No matter what anyone says, there are few internet broadcasters more famous than Daramji at this point.
Since most of my classmates were talking about Daramji’s broadcasts, it seems this is definitely Daramji’s prime era.
Moreover, thinking about who I need to portray in the upcoming [You Came From the Stars] audition.
There was definitely a need to learn from Daramji’s cheerful energy and sometimes immature moments.
‘Hmmm, Ha-eun, you’re great at acting not like a kid, but your kid-like acting feels a bit awkward.’
In the previous acting class, that was the most pointed-out part as lacking child-like qualities.
Having instinctively rejected child-like traits due to my mature mind contrasting with my short stature.
I knew I had to learn and get used to displaying my child-like side, even if belatedly.
Because people look for child actors simply because they need child-like qualities in the scenes they want to capture.
Although that’s not everything, it will have some influence in this [You Came From the Stars] audition, so.
“Alright, let’s hide ten sets of bread here. I’ll come back about two minutes before the game ends─”
– ? What’s that green thing behind?
– Daramji, behind you! Look behind!!
– Guys, why is that glittering?
– Creeper’s coming= Daramji is definitely last again today.
– 30 minutes of hard work vanished a second before.
“Eh? Where’s the creeper… Oh no, no, no!! My bread!!”
Thus, I captured the sight of Daramji losing all items in an instant again today, becoming a beggar.
Just like when I observed Kim Min-jun’s antics all day long long ago.
*
“Da-yeon. Watch me act a bit.”
“…Hey, Lee Ha-eun. We’re rivals, you know?”
“Then I’ll watch you act too.”
Immediately after, Ha-eun’s innocent expression seemed to say, ‘Is this how it’s supposed to be?’
And that completely shut Da-yeon up.
She was so bold and shameless.
The fact that she asked without any malice this time subtly raised Da-yeon’s blood pressure.
「M-Milord. Please walk a little slower. It’s hard for a girl to keep up with your brisk pace.」
Thus began Ha-eun’s performance.
One way or another, leaving aside everything else, Da-yeon had already acknowledged Ha-eun’s acting long ago.
So, she decided to watch Ha-eun’s act.
Thinking that if she stumbles over lines or makes mistakes, she would have the heart to tease her.
However, the Ha-eun Da-yeon knew was just like she had always been.
「But it’s a bit noisier here than I expected. Is the market always this noisy?」
Starting from the moment Ha-eun delivered her line until the end, there was not a single point that felt like a mistake.
Out of nowhere, Da-yeon crossed her arms and stared at Ha-eun.
“What did you think?”
“…She seems like a little brat pretending to be noble.”
“Huh? But Han Yu-hwa wasn’t like that originally─”
“Shut up. Anyway, this time it’s your turn to let me watch. Keep your eyes wide open.”
Thus, Da-yeon deliberately delivered the lines Ha-eun had just spoken with full force in her voice.
And also showed off some gestures that Ha-eun hadn’t performed.
The feedback Da-yeon received from Ha-eun was pure admiration, almost like that of a veteran actor.
Well, it made sense since while Ha-eun had focused on “preparation” for a long time, Da-yeon had been actively acting in movies or dramas.
It’s only natural that Ha-eun would admire Da-yeon’s acting.
The natural eye contact as if a lord were right in front of her.
The awkward pace, which tried to walk fast but ultimately didn’t really change.
Everything was done intentionally to dampen Ha-eun’s spirit.
It was also the result of Da-yeon analyzing the [You Came From the Stars] script as best as she could.
But as time flew by and the audition day finally arrived.
-Stumble.
「Uh, uh…! M-Milord!」
Watching Ha-eun display the wobbly walk Da-yeon once showcased, only then did she realize she had made a mistake.
‘That insufferable brat is really…!’
In the end, it turned out that Ha-eun learned Da-yeon’s acting hands-on.
The price of being blinded by a moment’s desire to show off was truly sorrowful.
