His Rui

Chapter 810: Li Rui Went Unconscious

Another Long Chapter!!!

-----

The next morning, when Li Rui woke up the first thing she did was to cover herself and then go to the tent of the infected woman.

Xi Ying sighed helplessly as he watched his wife's actions.

However, inside his heart, he really wished that she had finally found the cure. Once she had found it, she could write it to Physician Yun and with others' help, the old physician could do everything after that.

He would be able to take Li Rui away from here.

He was also missing his children.

He held Li Rui's hand and stepped out of the tent together. They had just stepped out when they heard a voice which made Xi Ying frown as he recognized the voice very well.

"Rui"

Even Li Rui was surprised when she heard the voice and immediately turned to look in the direction from where the voice came.

It was Li Diu and Yi Junjie who were standing a few steps away.

"Elder Brother"

Li Diu and Yi Junjie walked toward her.

"Rui"

Li Diu's face didn't look good as he looked at his sister. Even when he called out her name, it could be seen clearly that he was very unhappy. Yi Junjie, however, held his hand to stop him from saying something unpleasant.

He smiled gently and then said to Li Rui

"You should have at least informed us when you were leaving, Rui. We could also provide some help."

Li Rui knew why Li Diu was unhappy. Her brother was worried about her. She was happy that Yi Junjie handled the matters because she could make Xi Ying understand but her elder brother would not understand her at all.

To make him less angry and provide some comfort, she told him about the medicine she had prepared last night.

"There is a great chance that it can provide some way out. Even if it didn't work on people, we can use it on animals and stop the disease from spreading through them."

Yi Junjie looked slightly relieved when he heard this. Even Li Diu's face looked slightly better.

"You better leave with us as soon as possible. I won't let my sister stay here where she had a huge chance of getting infected with some incurable disease."

While saying these words, he intentionally glanced at Xi Ying making it clear that he was not happy that Xi Ying brought Li Rui here.

Xi Ying didn't counter Li Diu. Even he thought that he was incapable of making Li Rui agree with him.

Who asked him to love this woman so much?

He didn't speak much to Li Diu and Yi Junjie but asked the Imperial soldiers to make two tents for them.

From what it looked like, they would stay here until Li Rui was here.

Yi Junjie and Li Diu also brought with them essential things like food and clothes that could be used for the infected people.

As Xi Ying was instructing his people about all these things, Li Rui patiently stood by his side though she was eager to go to the tent and see the effect of the medicine.

He had been very accommodating to her and she wanted to do the same.

However, there was someone else who was dying from the excitement he was feeling.

"Lady Li…"

Physician Yun's excited voice sounded interrupted the serious atmosphere.  Xi Ying stopped talking and looked at the old physician coldly. However, ignoring everything, the old physician ran to Li Rui.

Though his body was covered, his excitement could be sensed from his voice alone.

"Lady Li, do you know who is here?"

Li Rui frowned in confusion as she looked at her brothers standing a few steps away as they asked about the condition of the patients from the Imperial Guards who maintained the records of the dead, alive, and infected in the Duan Province.

Could Physician Yun be talking about them?

But he wouldn't be so excited to see them.

Just when she was thinking this, she saw a few figures walking out of the large ground.

Li Rui frowned as she looked into the eyes of the person who was walking ahead. She had a guess who it was but she was not sure.

The person stopped in front of her but didn't say anything.

Under Li Rui's continuous gaze, he seemed to be avoiding looking into her eyes.

Even Xi Ying was looking at the person with an amused expression on his face. Unlike Li Rui, who was not sure, he had recognized the man at one glance.

"The great leader of Yantun Valley…how come he is here!"

The old shifu who was called Xi Ying in a sarcastic voice didn't pay him attention. He glanced at Li Rui secretly but soon looked away.

From the corner of his eyes, he looked at the other man standing beside him.

The man immediately stepped forward and said politely

"Lady Li, we heard that there is a new kind of disease spreading in the Empire. As soon as my shifu heard about this, he brought us here. We all are disciples of my shifu and we would like to extend a helping hand to Lady Li and others in curing this disease."

Li Rui's eyes surely flickered in surprise but a moment later, she said coldly

"Respected leader of Yantun Valley, Rui really appreciates that you thought of this. However, one thing that Rui would like to emphasize is that these people are to be treated with a sense of responsibility. They are not some test objects of our medicines, or like the ones you take inside your Yantun Valley."

The disciples who heard Li Rui's words were shocked.

Because no one had ever talked to their shifu like that. Though they felt angry, they knew what she was trying to say.

They already knew everything about Li Rui from Physician Xuan.

"I understand."

The old shifu said firmly shocking his disciples further. Instantly, they looked at Li Rui with admiration. She must be very capable to make their shifu obey her like this.

After this small conversation, Li Rui finally went to the tent to see the woman.

The old Shifu and a few of his disciples and Physician Yun followed them. The latter had informed the former that Li Rui had made some kind of medicine that had the potential to cure the disease.

Inside the tent, Physician Yun was more excited when he saw that the woman's eyes had stopped leaking and her eyes were less read than before.

Li Rui also exhaled sharply when she saw this.

The old shifu on the other hand walked to the table where the medicine was placed and smelled it for some time.

A moment later, he even tasted it and nodded his head while thinking something silently.

The woman's body was still hot but her eyes had stopped leaking. Seeing this, Li Rui immediately asked Physician Yun to collect all the physicians as she wanted to share the formula of the medicine with them.

She then looked at Xi Ying and told him that she needed many herbs in large amounts. Xi Ying nodded his head and assured her that everything would be arranged.

Amidst this, the old Shifu walked to Li Rui and said

"That…I can also tell a few herbs that can be added to further strengthen the body …specifically eyes and fight the fever as well."

Li Rui looked at the old shifu and calmly nodded her head. She told him to write the herbs on the paper and then give them to Xi Ying.

The old shifu was pleased seeing that she accepted his suggestion.

By night, the medicine was made in large amounts and then fed to all the infected people. The herbs suggested by old Shifu were also added.

The next morning, when Li Rui woke up and stepped out of the tent with Xi Ying, Physician Yun informed her that the medicine was indeed working well.

The news soon reached the Imperial City that Li Rui had found the cure. After another day, Li Rui send the formula for making the medicine to the Imperial Palace and also prescribed it to be fed until the fever goes down.

Zhao Zhang Wei didn't delay sending his people to other infected regions. Soon, the medicine was being fed to all the infected.

After two weeks of hopelessness, Xin was finally seeing hope.

Another week later, the number of infected in the ground reduced a lot. Even after the people got better Xi Ying arranged another shelter for them where they stayed for a week. Only after it was confirmed that they were completely alright, they were sent back to their home.

Yi Junjie and Li Diu always helped Xi Ying as he was alone in instructing and managing everything.

More than a week passed and now Xi Ying wanted to talk to Li Rui about going back to the Imperial City.

One fine morning when Li Rui stepped out of the tent with Xi Ying, she was startled to see so many people gathered in front of the tent.

"Lady Li is here."

Someone amidst the crowd shouted suddenly and everyone looked toward the tent suddenly.

Many pairs of eyes brightened up.

Li Rui was covered completely but as people looked at her petite but firm frame, they couldn't believe that this young woman saved their loved ones' lives.

"Lady Li…"

A woman suddenly came running. Xi Ying immediately stood in front of his wife and was about to kick her away. However, he didn't need to do that.

The woman stopped a few steps away and suddenly kneeled down on the ground.

"Lady Li…"

Tears were flowing out of her eyes as she said

"Lady Li is my family's benefactor. Lady Li cured my son…Xiao Ba…"

From the crowd of people, Xiao Ba walked out and knelt beside his mother. He seemed to be around the age of ten or eleven.

"Lady Li…my family can serve Xi Clan for their entire life."

Li Rui was overwhelmed to see a woman like this. As a mother, she could understand another mother.

However before she could say anything, the crowd of people also kneeled down on the ground.

"Lady Li is our benefactor."

The shout echoed through the large ground.

Li Rui felt goosebumps rising in her arms as she looked at the large crowd. It was such an overwhelming scene.

A moment later, she finally found her voice and said

"I am no one's benefactor."

The crowd went silent when they heard her words and looked at her.

"I am a physician. It is something that I ought to do. And …I was never alone in all this. My husband, Physician Yun and many other physicians, His Majesty …and so many people worked for this. So I alone don't deserve this credit."

Standing behind her, Xi Ying had a smile on his lips when he heard her mentioning him.

Yi Junjie and Li Diu had proud smiles on their lips.

Li Rui continued in her soft but calm voice.

"However, we have not tackled the disease yet completely. The main source of the emergence of disease is the unhygienic conditions some people live in. I hope that everyone learned a lesson from this. It is very im…."

Li Rui was about to continue but she felt everything going blurry in front of her eyes suddenly.

She felt her vision first going red and then her legs went weak.

Her pause made Xi Ying and others frown in confusion.

It was only when her body started to slide down that Xi Ying, Yi Junjie, and Li Diu moved from their places.

"Rui"

Three shouts simultaneously sounded on the huge ground.

However, Li Rui couldn't hear any of it.

She was already unconscious.
