Chapter 56: Chapter 56
The day passed calmly, if not for the flood of work they had to deal with. A new venture plus cooperation with a large foreign company meant only one thing.
Overtime.
Due to the incredible amount of work, time passed very quickly for everyone. Before they knew it, it was already 7 p.m.
Darell told everyone to go home. Only he, Sophie and Noah, who refused to come back, were left. An hour later, Diana also returned to the company with dinner for everyone.
"Don't think I left you alone with everything. I just went to order us food and it took me a while" She explained, putting the food on the table.
After a moment, the empty boxes landed in the trash and work began again. Diana, seeing her brother looking through some documents, approached him and was clearly wondering what to do.
"What's the matter?" Darell looked up, seeing her sister standing next to her.
"Darell.....Did you get a message from our mom?" She asked hesitantly.
"You too?" He frowned. "What did she write to you?"
Diana passed him her phone. The message was identical to his from the morning.
"Don't worry about it. She can't do anything to us so she's trying her tricks. Don't respond to her messages. She'll eventually get bored and stop" He comforted his sister, deeply hoping that his words would come true.
At 11 PM Darell decided that he had had enough work for today and everyone went back to their apartments.
They had to divide their work wisely, knowing that there would be more days like this ahead of them.
And so, in the blink of an eye, the whole week passed. However, they couldn't complain, because they were doing quite well. The assigned work went well without any major problems.
Darell knew that after finishing this torrent of work, everyone would deserve a generous bonus. He was proud of himself and his employees.
His company was developing more and more and soon he would probably be able to think about opening a new branch.
Another text message tore him from his pleasant thoughts. Almost every day, both he and Diana received the same text from their mother.
He had to admit that she was stubborn and he was starting to feel that she might come up with something worse. Unfortunately, he didn't have time to guess.
If things continued to go so well, Anton's office would be ready for him in a week.
The weekend came.
Unfortunately, there was no time to rest, because the company was still working. No one from the workers opposed or rebelled. They came of their own free will, wanting to help their boss.
With such support, despite fatigue, everyone's work went by calmly and in a pleasant atmosphere.
Two days later, Darell learned from Noah that Anton would arrive earlier than planned because an important matter had come up.
Hearing another message on his phone, Darell rubbed his face with his hands. He wanted to delete the message immediately, seeing the recipient, but he decided to read it.
This time the text was different. Almost threatening. Darell snorted with dissatisfaction. A moment later, a worried Diana appeared in the office. It was immediately obvious that she had received the same message.
"Darell.."
"Calm down, Diana. She can't do anything without our consent. She'll make a fool of herself as usual and leave us alone for another year."
He walked up to his sister and hugged her, stroking her back soothingly. Their mother had worse and worse ideas and if she didn't calm down, he would have to contact their father, which was the last resort. He was the only person who could put her on her ass.
Darell didn't mention the tiring news to Sophie because he thought it was unnecessary. He would soon find out how wrong he was...
Don and his men were waiting in front of their building when several larger cars pulled up in front of them. Anton got out of the first one, dressed all in black, matching Don's outfit.
They both looked like underworld bosses. It's not like they weren't, but you know how it is.
Two handsome men, foreigners, with a group of subordinates right next to them, all armed... Well, almost all of them.
Zick, despite Don's protests, stood behind him, watching the newcomers with curiosity. When the twins got out of the next car, their perfect vision immediately found their guru and master, whom they simply adored.
They were incredibly happy to meet him. Ignoring the others and their boss, they ran up to Zick, getting on Don's nerves.
The man pulled out his gun without hesitation and aimed it at the twins, which caused his men to do the same.
Anton stopped his men from taking out theirs and with an apologetic face approached Don. He hit the men on the heads and ordered them to bow to Don.
"Sorry. They're a bit hot-headed because they rarely go out"
Don, feeling Zick's hand on his back, looked menacingly at J and K.
"That's not the kind of greeting I expected" He grumbled but greeted his friend by patting each other on the shoulders and they went inside together.
Showing where they could live, the men left their things and went to eat together.
Don didn't let go of Zick from his hand for a moment, showing the guests who he belonged to.
Anton tried not to laugh seeing how the twins wanted to talk to the protected Zick even for a moment.
"They won't eat him. They just want to talk" Anton grumbled at Don, who wanted to kill with a look. But it wasn't until Zick herself stepped in, that Don gave up and let her sit between the twins, looking at them with irresistible jealousy.
"Come on, we have something to talk about. Let the kids relax for a while before they get serious." He patted Don on the shoulder and they went to his office to talk things over. Meanwhile, the twins couldn't believe their luck.
"Hi. I'm Zick. Nice to meet you." She nodded in greeting, sitting between them.
"J"
"K"
"It's incredibly nice to meet you" they replied together.
"I hope we get along during this assignment"
"We'll do whatever you say" They nodded, staring at her in delight.
"Oooookeyyyy" Zick, feeling a bit awkward, glanced at Don, who had left with Anton.
She didn't miss his jealous look, which could only mean one thing. She looked at the cheerful twins, worried about their stay here.
After a while, however, she engaged them in a conversation about computers and they went to see her equipment. Unable to wait, they also set up their own, which they had brought with them, and began to agree on what and how they would do.
After a long journey, they needed to rest, knowing that soon sleep would be a privilege. So they said goodbye to Zick and went to their room with the others.
Zick checked if no one was left, sat down at the computer again and began her further search.
Whenever she had a moment and no one was looking, she conducted her own little investigation into Vasili.
She didn't wonder why both bosses, seeing his photo, became serious. She managed to find information about him and it wasn't good stuff.
All in all, you could say that he was involved in what Don did, but on a larger scale and in a more brutal way. You could add human smuggling, prostitution, contract killings and a few other things that they didn't deal with.
When she read an article about the massacre a few years ago when they clashed with Ruslanovs, there was a mention that Vasili had been killed.
However, looking deeper, she couldn't find any information about him in any morgue, hospital or other institution that could take care of his body. Apparently, no one had thought about it and the case was closed.
That must have been how Vasili managed to disappear from Ruslanov's radar.
"Did they see his death with their own eyes, that they didn't want to investigate it further?" She mumbled under her breath, searching for more possible recordings from the area that day.
She noticed that everything had been deleted, cleaned up and buried forever. But she wasn't going to give up.
A few days ago she started writing her own face search program. Having access to a few of his photos, she tried to set it up to look for his main appearance details. If that doesn't help, add a search setting for someone with similar facial features.
Someone like him wouldn't try to change his appearance. After all, it would mean he was afraid and didn't want to be recognized. Big business heads don't think like that.
Absorbed in her program, she didn't notice her bosses return, finding her alone at the computer.
They looked at each other with understanding and silently approached her, watching her work. Most of them were incomprehensible to them, but a few photos of Vasili scrolled across the screen.
