Chapter 35: Chapter 35
Don suspected that Darell wouldn't sleep much longer, even if he was exhausted. However, he didn't expect that he wouldn't be able to stop him from wanting to leave at four in the morning.
"If the time doesn't suit you, come back later. I'm not going to wait any longer." He grumbled, grabbing the keys to one of the cars and disappearing behind the door.
What else could the poor friend do but follow the hothead... The road to Anton's villa woke him up completely as his body was thrown left and right around the corners. You could even think that they were in the middle of some chase or race, but no... His friend was running at breakneck speed to see his woman.
Surprisingly, the people guarding the gate, seeing the car approaching, opened the gate without protest and allowed the men to enter. One of Anton's men was already waiting for them outside the main doors, inviting them in like real guests.
"Mr. Ruslanov is expecting you gentlemen in the dining room. This way, please." He politely showed them the way, but they did not expect to find such a scene.
When Darell saw Sophie and Anton hugging, he saw red. Screaming "Anton! You fucking bastard!" He was about to attack the surprised couple who looked in their direction, but Dan, seeing them, stopped his friend at the last moment.
"Wait... Why do they look like two peas in a pod?" He asked surprised.
Fortunately, the words reached Darell and the man stopped struggling and looked at them with equally great surprise. Seeing them, Anton smiled mockingly and, wrapping his arms around Sophie's waist, wanted to approach them. However, he did not suspect that his sister would fly like an arrow and throw herself into Darell's arms.
Hugging him tightly and checking his condition, she kissed him on the lips every now and then, knowing what he must have experienced.
"I'm so glad you're here," She whispered in his ear, which broke him out of his momentary trance.
"Little sister, go slow, or you'll eat the poor guy alive. Let me explain to him before he tears me apart." Anton laughed, returning to his place at the table.
"Little sister?" Darell looked questioningly at the slightly embarrassed Sophie.
"Yeah, about that...It turns out that Anton is my twin brother" She explained briefly, looking somewhere to the side.
"Wait, how? Could you elaborate?" This time Don spoke up, curious about the tangled story.
"Maybe let's sit down and eat something calmly and I'll explain everything again, hmm?" Sophie's brother suggested.
The woman looked at Darell, hoping he would listen to them, as she grabbed his hand and dragged him to the table. Once everyone was seated and the food was on the table, they munched and listened to the stories of the separated twins.
"My father made sure no one found out about this, so I doubt you'll ever find out any other way," Anton concluded.
"Without insulting you gentlemen, knowing that my sister was in danger and having the appropriate resources, I decided to save her as quickly as possible. And believe me, I did it at the right moment. A second late and Sophie would no longer be with us" He stroked her hair tenderly from her forehead. His eyes showed concern for his sister.
Hearing this, Darell clenched his jaw and, after thinking for a moment, extended his hand to Anton.
"Thank you for saving her. I will owe you for the rest of my life" You could hear the sincerity in his voice. Anton shook his hand with a slight smile.
"There's nothing to talk about. She's my sister and I'm ready to do anything for her. You don't owe me anything. However, I would be happy to cooperate with you if it suits you. I would like to get closer to my sister and spend some time with her. What do you both think abou that?" He asked, dropping a huge bomb on everyone.
To be Ruslanov's partner was a truly great achievement. Such an offer is like winning the lottery playing against the whole world.
"We'll have to talk it over, and if Sophie doesn't mind getting to know her family better, I don't mind either." He looked with joy in his eyes at the woman he loved sitting next to him. Safe and sound. Only now, when all the negative emotions had left him, he felt the image in front of his eyes begin to blur.
Sophie, seeing what was happening, quickly grabbed him, saving him from falling. Don and Anton grabbed him from both sides and carried him to one of the spare rooms. Concerned, Sophie followed them, never leaving his sight.
"He'll be fine. He just needs to rest longer. Knowing you were safe, he could finally let go," Don reassured her. "So what? Actually, I have nothing to do here anymore. The family gathering can take place without a third party." He wanted to leave but Sophie grabbed his sleeve.
"We don't know each other, but I'm grateful that you helped Darell. Thank you." She thanked the man, who only just realized that it was indeed their first meeting.
"Miss, please forgive my bad manners. My friends call me Don. I'm a good friend of Darell's. I hope there will come a time when we will get to know each other better." He bowed to her from the waist and smiled charmingly.
"Sophie. Nice to meet you, Don" She shook his hand, smiling as well.
"Well, it's about time for me. I still have some important things that don't want to be delayed. See you soon." He waved goodbye and left the manor.
Sophie sat down next to the sleeping Darell and started stroking his head.
"You love him..." Anton saw her look and knew immediately. Sophie just nodded, not taking her eyes off him.
"And to think that a few weeks ago we were our worst enemies" She laughed.
"Being your enemy... well, well, well. It must have been hard for him." He looked at her knowingly.
"I knew how to mess him up" She said proudly.
"I don't doubt it. Now tell me, Sophie. Would you like to talk to your real father?" He asked with slight concern.
He wondered if maybe he was in a hurry with the proposal, but Sophie looked up at him and, without saying anything, nodded. It was as if a stone had fallen from Anton's heart.
He didn't know he would be so stressed about it. He loved his father and knew that he loved his sister just as much. Sometimes he was like a soggy dumpling, but he always cared for him and made him feel loved. He wanted Sophie to feel the same as him.
"So? First, a short video call and tomorrow you could meet face to face?" He proposed. Sophie looked at him with uncertainty, but after a moment of consideration, she sat down next to him.
"Call him"
With a little nervousness, Anton chose the video call and prayed that his father wouldn't start with some stupid text. He focused the camera only on himself to quickly end the conversation if necessary. After a few signals, his father appeared.
"Anton, finally. How long are you making me wait for the news? What's wrong with Sophie? Is she feeling better? Has she eaten anything?" Grigorej began to bombard his son with questions that he had no desire to answer.
"If you're so curious, ask her yourself." He didn't give his father a moment to react, moving the camera towards Sophie. Seeing his daughter safe and sound, looking at him with curiosity and not anger, tears appeared in his eyes.
"Hello Sophie" He could barely get two words out without falling apart.
"Hi dad" Sophie tried to be nice but her words unleashed a storm in the older man's heart. One big tear rolled down his cheek.
"My little daughter" He smiled through his tears. "Is... Is it possible... for us to meet?" He spoke the words with great difficulty, his voice shaking.
"I'd love to" She replied shyly, also feeling the emotions raging inside her.
"Okay, okay. Enough of your mawkishness. You heard Sophie, We'll see you tomorrow." Unable to bear the sight of his father falling apart, Anton quickly ended the conversation.
"And one would think that everyone is afraid of him, that he is a terror." He complained to himself, emphasizing certain words.
"Thanks brother. I'm glad to meet you both" Sophie hugged her brother once again and he had to admit that he liked these hugs with his sister more and more.
Knowing that they would meet their father soon and that Sophie was worried about Darell, Anton left them alone in the room and went to see if his father would be here in an hour by accident, because he was capable of doing that as well. Fortunately, he had booked a regular flight, which will arrive this evening. He had a few things to take care of, so without beating around the bush, he got to work.
Meanwhile, Sophie snuggled longingly into Darell's arms. The man, sensing her proximity, turned to her and longed to cuddle into her wonderful body. After a while, they were both sound asleep.
They woke up only in the late afternoon, but they were rested. Anton prepared a meal for them, but Sophie decided that she would wait for their father.
"Sweetie, I don't want to leave you even for a second, but maybe you want to spend some time alone with your family" Darell suggested before they left the room. "I also have to catch up on work and I know you won't be back with me yet. Maybe we can arrange to come pick you up tomorrow evening, hmm?" He asked, grabbing Sophie by the waist and looking at her lovingly.
"Let's do this. I love you," Sophie kissed the man lusciously, not wanting to be separated from him yet. After a moment of caressing, they both decided that if they went a step further.... Ehm. Well, yes. Her brother's house wasn't necessarily the best place for such things. So Darell went to work and Sophie and Anton waited for their father's arrival.
Hearing someone's footsteps, Sophie stood up and looked at the door, a little nervous.
A tall, older man with slightly gray hair entered through the door. His eyes quickly caught her attention because they were still their piercing green color. Same as hers and her brother's. Seeing her for the first time in many years, the man spread his arms with tears in his eyes.
"Sophie..."
