Riser POV

Being Kabedon by Ren was an experience not because I was attracted to him but because he was projecting more power than I thought possible for him this early in the series.

In the games, whenever the Phantom Thieves sends their calling cards, the owner of a palace becomes so agitated that their ruler selves from the metaverse actually overlap themselves in reality and those that are aware of the metaverse could actually see those manifestations.

And Ren is actually doing that right now. I can see his outfit being replaced by his thief costume and behind him was Arsene glowing in that ghostly blue flame that he wields… But, his hands were on his chains, af is contemplating if he should break it and manifest something else in his place.

Okay I am convinced this Ren is not the clueless boy who was thrust into the world of the supernatural. This kind of skill is only something that someone who is so accustomed to the metaverse can do. Someone like that bitchwayer Akechi.

"Tell me who the hell are you!?" Ren roared to me with cold eyes.

Understandable really, I diverged from the canon timeline. Ann wasn't even part of the group yet. And already I interfered so that may never even come to pass, but I narrowed it down to him being a reincarnated person or this is some time loop shit from fanfics.

I need to find out which it is so, "You failed them didn't you?" I said some vague shit like that.

"Shut up! Answer the question." He deflected but I can see him stiffen in his place.

"You weren't able to save them…" Based on his reaction, I am leaning more on the time loop.

"Answer me…" He looked pained but was hyperfocusing on me to keep him aware.

Fuck it, there is more evidence to the second anyway if I am wrong I'll just wing it, "But you got a second chance didn't you?"

"..." His silence was basically confirming it. "How did you…?"

"You are mad that I interfered, because your friends aren't part of the fight yet, Ann may never get the chance to join you because of what I did…" I was just monologuing at this point.

"But you forget Joker, your friends aren't the only people that suffered, other people too suffered. Did you forget about Ann's friend, Suzui? She was sent to the hospital and because of that Ann joined you. But I can't really blame you. It's been one heck of a year for you hasn't it? But we're friends right? And we're here to help!"

Yes, for us players it was only about 60 - 100 hours long of video games, and hell even I can't remember all the details about it. For Ren who lived through it, someone who had a hectic life ever since moving here, where it was boss after boss and finally culminating in a battle for the world when one year ago you were just an ordinary highschooler, it must have been too much for the boy.

And if my suspicions were right then he was sent here after dying to Yaldabaoth. That defeat must have etched itself into his mind.

This is like Danmachi where Ais, the heroine, leveled up once in one year and Bell, the protagonist, leveled up like 5 to 7 in months because the author wanted the story to end in one year. Fucking Japanese, man… I will never forgive the Japanese!!!

Ren like strings were cut from him sagged. Like relief flooded him even as more questions were probably brewing in his mind. I think I can guess why he is so trusting of me right now…

A confidante probably showed up on him. A Confidante in Persona 5 is basically your bonds with people and how close you really are to someone. In Persona, your bonds are power, as you level up your bond with someone you get bonuses from them and each confidante is represented as one of the Arcana in Tarot cards.

Each Persona belongs to one of them and the higher your bonds are with someone from an Arcana the higher the bonus you get when summoning a Persona from that arcana.

Basically use your friends for more power. Manipulate them into liking you and you will get more power. Be a mastermind and exploit all of them. Although some of them can still betray you.

Because bonds with people doesn't mean it's just good, sometimes it's bonds for rivalry or maybe even an enemy…

Now I wonder… What Arcana am I?

"Did you come from the future too?" Ren finally asked me the damning question… What am I supposed to say here? Shit, I did not think this through enough.

"No… But I did see where this world was heading and the center of it all was you." Well you and the several protagonists that exist in this world…

"But several paths opened up, some of it bad, some good. Did you come from a bad timeline Joker? Based on your actions you were trying to make the same actions so you wouldn't change the time line too much…"

"I… We lost… Do you know about the Holy Grail?" I just nodded. "Turns out that wasn't the final enemy we had, there was something even more powerful than it. A God. And I had to watch as we were picked one by one, my friends fell one after another. And when I was finally able to defeat him it was too late… They were all…"

Damn, okay. I have to remember that this is real life. I guess some endings really didn't exist. But this really feels like a fanfic right now.

"Then as I defeated him, the final treasure came down… Humanity's hope and my wish was granted, I was able to come back and redo them again."

"Okay, and in the process you hyper fixated on saving the Phantom Thieves, forgetting other people… Joker, Suzui was almost forced to do something unspeakable with Kamoshida, the girl is still traumatized by what happened…" The grave news hit the frizzy boy like a truck as he looked pained by his own selfishness which I could never really blame him.

Because I could tell he was in the same boat as Suzui, he was just as traumatized as the rest of them. Maybe even worse. He must feel like he failed them. Like Thor failed when he tried to kill Thanos in Infinity War.

"But we are going to help you, at least as much as we can." I mean, we have to go home sometime and we can't really stay here.

"What do you mean by that?" He questioned me as I tried to answer as much as possible with his questions as I could.

"So here we are now!"

"Are we really sure we should include Suzui here as well?" Ryuuji was still complaining after we told him that we are actually just ending this now. I know he's coming from a nice place, I mean his concern is showing through but he really doesn't stop.

"It'll be fine. Now let's go!" I reassured him as Amamiya pulled out his phone and entered the coordinates and the world distorted as we were transported to a different world.

"What is this!!??" A voice that I didn't recognize well came from behind us, Suzui shouldn't be that surprised anymore. We came from a pocket dimension this morning as we went to school and explained to her the supernatural world. We explained how we were going to end her suffering and things like that but she was just confused and didn't really understand.

So we just simplified it to getting revenge in another world that would affect Kamoshida.

As our group turned around Suzui was the first to react as she gasped and trembled, and that is because her best friend was currently looking at us with apprehension. Ann Takamaki was standing right infront of us.

"What is this place and where are you taking Shiho!" Takamaki with a glare loudly questioned us even as she was weirded out by what was happening.

To think that this would still happen, fate really is real isn't it? She must have seen us together with Suzui and followed us out of concern for her. And I can't blame her, we are a suspicious group who led her best friend into a dark alleyway.

"Damnit! What should we do with her?" Ryuji questioned but really only one answer was permissible. We shoved her back to the real world, I didn't know how they did it in canon but it was actually pretty weird how reality just collapses as they shoved her back.

Then Joker just said that he was just going to do something and proceeded to stare at something.

I went in front of him all I could see was the whites in his eyes. With a drool coming out of his mouth… This is why you don't do drugs kids, you become a vegetable like this guy.

Holy shit, this is how it looks like when Joker goes to the Velvet room. This is hilarious! The velvet room is a place where you execute and combine your personas and strengthen them and stuff but it was explained, or more like skimmed over, that Joker just stares at something whenever he goes there.

But this is actually pretty freaky. Well, let's do something that I always wanted to do that they always do on TV…

"Hey Riser, what are you doing over there?" Rias questioned me as I finally completed my master piece…

"Pfft hahaha!" Rias gave a full belly laugh, Suzui for the first time cracked a smile and Ryuji was holding in his laugh for his bro and actually seemed to admonish me with his look.

Ren's mouth was fully black with marker in the shape of a beak to match his bird mask and his eyebrows were drawn on like he was mad.

"Okay, this is taking too long, we're gonna go ahead Ryuji."

"What? Wait a minute, Ren is our Leader right? Shouldn't we wait for him?" Ryuji defended Joker but…

"Hey I am the mastermind here!" Morgana tried to assert his dominance and started a full on argument with Ryuji and using that as a chance we slipped on through while their argument gets more heated.

And for the first time in forever we did not hold back. Rias used her Power of Destruction wildly, throwing balls of it around, making wires made of it, shaping them into swords and shooting them like Shirou Emiya from fate.

And I could tell that she was venting as hundreds of destruction was happening while her Persona Nobunaga shot her flintlock like it was an automatic rifle that never runs out of bullets.

Meanwhile for the first time ever I used Infinity to twist, blast, and splatter shadow blood everywhere. Nevermind that Shadows don't actually bleed. And then there was my fire which protected Suzui as we dragged her through the castle. Which is now being destroyed thanks to Dismantle being used because of the shadows too.

High alert was currently running from the castle, red light was everywhere and guards were swarming us which was promptly destroyed instantly by both me and Rias.

And best of all, my Persona, Salieri was playing his version of Dies Irae Requiem (Day of Wrath) on the piano as we walked menacingly and destroyed everything about the castle.

The walls, the decorations, everything and as we went further down the castle even more perverted stuff was revealed and Suzui looked worse for wear as she saw what she looked like in Kamoshida's mind.

The statues of bloomers wearing girls who were half naked and posing sexily were obliterated by both me and Rias.

He really is the worst and then we came upon glowing Skulls that I remember weren't in canon. And memories flooded us of the depravity and the motivation of one gym teacher flooded our minds. And if Suzui didn't look sick before she certainly is now. And Rias was even more furious than before.

She destroyed the room it was in and the voices faded away.

We ventured forth with an inferno of negative emotions pushing us on, at this point Rias was motivated by spite, Suzui herself was a whole complicated mess of emotions and I just want to bring this man to justice, whether it was by killing him or by being arrested.

It would all depend on Suzui's decision now….
