Chapter 24: *Pokémon Capture Sound Effect*
[THIRD PERSON POV]
Arthur stood over the defeated form of Absalom, Starfall aimed squarely at the vampire god's head.
"And now... you're done for my guy. So, any last words?"
Absalom, pinned and broken, glared up at Arthur with unbridled rage.
"I... will not... be defeated... BY A MERE HUMAN CHILD!"
Before Arthur could respond, Absalom plunged his clawed hand into his own chest, ripping out his still-beating heart.
The sight froze Arthur in place, his eyes widening in shock.
"What in the world are you-?"
Arthur began, but his words trailed off as Absalom crushed his heart in his hand, the crimson organ disintegrating into a fine, misty vapor.
Absalom's body went limp, collapsing into the crater.
Arthur stood there, stunned and silent, his grip on Starfall tightening.
"Uhhh... What just happened?"
He asked, his voice low and uncertain.
*BOOM!*
Suddenly, an explosion occurred and a blood tsunami began to rise from Absalom's lifeless vessel, spreading through the Land of Steel like a scene from a nightmare.
Arthur instinctively raised his arm to shield his face from the blood and teleported to the rooftop of the tallest skyscraper, where Gaia was watching the unfolding chaos.
"What happened down there?"
Gaia asked, concern etched into her features.
Arthur shook his head.
"I have no idea... but I can already tell what is happening..."
The artificial city trembled as a tornado of blood erupted from the red sea, towering over even the tallest skyscrapers.
"... Absalom just got himself a Second Phase."
Black lightning crackled through the swirling vortex, tearing through the futuristic cityscape and raining destruction.
*Roar!*
Below, the Sentinel Asura was besieged by a fresh onslaught of blood hydras, their massive forms biting and constricting the colossal machine.
Arthur and Gaia watched from their vantage point, the chaos spreading rapidly.
The cyclone began to rumble, and a deep, demonic voice emerged, shaking the entire city.
From within the cyclone, a towering crimson humanoid emerged.
"I AM THE AVATAR OF CHAOS!"
Its form was both divine and demonic, a massive being with five bat-like wings on its left and five bird-like wings on its right.
"I AM THE INEVITABLE!"
Its bald head was crowned with two massive horns that connected to form a halo-like ring, and its three golden, glowing eyes burned with malevolent fury.
"I AM THE BLOOD GOD!"
A thick, swirling mist of blood enveloped its body, and in its claws, it wielded a pair of massive double-sided blood lances.
"I... AM... ABSALOM!"
The True Form of Absalom stood tall, dwarfing even the skyscrapers and casting a shadow over the devastated city.
Its gaze fell upon Arthur, who remained calm.
Arthur's vibrant blue eyes narrowed as he activated Observe once more.

To his surprise, Absalom's stats were restored to its prime, surpassing even Arthur's mediocre stats.
"How the fuck did this prick get his original stats back? I thought he needed a strong vessel to do so."
Arthur asked aloud, still processing the sight.
Gaia, floating next to him, folded her arms.
"Here's a bit of information, Arthur. Powerful beings such as gods don't necessarily need a physical body, it just makes it easier to manifest into the real world and interact with things. But without a physical body of his own, Absalom is left with no choice but to use his spiritual body, his True Form in a sense. Right now, he's relying purely on his soul. But here's the downside of this method, any damage his soul takes now will be more deadly and permanent."
Arthur nodded slowly, his mind racing.
"Ohh... So he's doing a high-risk, high-reward move. Got it."
A tense silence followed as the two combatants locked eyes across the distance, a faraway showdown of sheer willpower.
Absalom's imposing form radiated malice, while Arthur's calm, defiant stance exuded confidence.
Without a word, Arthur raised his hand and summoned two more Sentinel Asuras, their six arms brandishing glowing blue lightsabers. The first Sentinel Asura, having broken free from its restraints, joined them, the three colossal machines now surrounding the Blood God.
Absalom's voice boomed across the battlefield.
"ARTHUR OF GREY HAVEN... I WILL DEVOUR YOUR SOUL AND USE YOUR SKULL AS MY BLOOD CHALICE!"
Arthur smirked, casually resting Starfall on his shoulder.
"So you finally call me by my name, that's quite the honor. And if you want a piece of me literally..."
He planted the Excalibur Destruction on his right and gestured with his free hand, beckoning the Blood God forward.
"... Then come and get it, bloodsucker."
The three Sentinel Asuras fought in perfect synchrony against the towering Absalom.
Their glowing blue lightsabers clashed with the Blood God's immense presence, each strike aimed to break through his monstrous defenses.
Yet, their efforts seemed futile as every wound they inflicted on Absalom's massive form healed almost instantly, the blood sea surrounding him acting as a constant regenerating force.
Absalom, motionless amidst the assault, finally raised his double-sided blood lance.
With a casual yet devastating sweep, the blade cleaved through all three Sentinels in one precise motion, completely destroying them before they could even begin to adapt.
Arthur narrowed his eyes, frustration flickering across his face.
"Alright, that was quick. But let's see how you like this."
With a sharp gesture, Arthur summoned ten giant Gaster Blasters, each glowing with blue energy.
They circled Absalom like predators and unleashed a devastating volley of beams, converging on the Blood God in an explosion of light and sound.
Gaia, standing nearby, leaned closer to Arthur.
"Did you get him?"
Arthur remained silent, his gaze fixed on the thick smoke left in the aftermath of the attack.
As the dust cleared, his jaw tightened.
"No... No I didn't."
Absalom stood in the center of the crater, his form regenerating once more. He appeared completely unphased, the mist swirling around him.
His three golden eyes glowed as he spoke.
"MY TURN."
The Blood God raised his massive lance high and swung it down in a vertical slash.
A colossal blood wave surged forward, carving a destructive canyon through the cityscape, disintegrating everything in its path.
Arthur's instincts kicked in.
"OH SHIT!"
He grabbed Gaia by the waist and teleported them just in time to another nearby skyscraper.
The attack obliterated the area they had just vacated, leaving behind a massive rift in the ground.
Arthur sweatdropped as he surveyed the destruction.
"Holy crap... if that had hit us, we'd be toast."
"Ahem."
Gaia cleared her throat, her cheeks flushed.
"You, uh... you can let go now."
Arthur blinked and realized where his hand had landed.
It landed on her plump rear.
His face turned red as he quickly removed his hand and straightened up, awkwardly brushing it off.
"Right. Sorry about that."
Gaia folded her arms and huffed, her blush deepening.
Arthur returned his focus to Absalom, narrowing his eyes.
"Okay, that also didn't work... so let's try this."
Drawing Excalibur Destruction, Arthur pointed the blade skyward.
A massive beacon of light erupted from its edge, illuminating the entire Land of Steel.
Arthur roared.
"EX...!"
And brought the blade down in a devastating vertical slash.
"... CALIBUR!"
A holy beam of destruction surged forward, its brilliance slicing through the air toward Absalom.
The Blood God unfurled his five pairs of wings, using them as a shield against the oncoming attack.
The holy energy struck, causing visible damage to the wings, burning holes through the membrane and burning some feathers.
Absalom stood tall despite the assault, his wings partially scorched but functional.
"IT IS POINTLESS!"
He rumbled.
"YOU CANNOT ESCAPE THE INEVITABLE!"
*Groan*
Arthur groaned audibly, rolling his eyes.
"Oh my God, can you please stop with the inevitable crap? What's next? You gonna start saying you want to 'restore balance in the universe' or something, you wannabe Thanos?"
"..."
Absalom fell silent for a moment, his three golden eyes narrowing.
Suddenly, they glowed with intense light before unleashing a devastating heat vision aimed directly at Arthur and Gaia.
Arthur reacted instantly, summoning a massive diamond monolith in front of them.
The heat beams struck the barrier, their fiery energy refracting into dazzling patterns as the diamond absorbed the brunt of the attack before cracking from the intense heat and pressure.
"Guess I'm not the only one with flashy moves."
Arthur comments, peeking around the edge of the broken monolith as he prepares his next strike.
Arthur hovered above the battlefield, summoning a veritable arsenal of giant Gaster Blasters, holy-imbued giant lightsabers, energy turrets, and an array of magic spells that swirled with power around Absalom.
"Alright, then. Let's see if you can handle this!"
Arthur yelled to Absalom, pointing Excalibur Destruction at his colossal figure.
With a roar, he unleashed everything.
Beams of energy from the Gaster Blasters, bolts of magic, and bursts of concentrated holy energy from the lightsabers and turrets converged on Absalom in a deafening, blinding barrage.
Gaia, floating nearby, crossed her arms and gave him a skeptical look.
"Are you sure this is gonna work?"
Arthur glanced at her with a shrug.
"Honestly? I have no idea. But you gotta admit it looks cool, doesn't it?"
Minutes passed as the relentless assault continued, the sheer force creating a hurricane of energy that engulfed the towering Blood God.
When the attack finally ceased, the battlefield was cloaked in a thick shroud of smoke and debris.
Arthur and Gaia watched intently, tension hanging in the air.
As the smoke began to clear, Arthur's eyes widened in disbelief.
"Oh come on."

Absalom stood tall amidst the wreckage, unscathed, his massive blood lance spinning effortlessly as it cleared away the remnants of the attack.
"Seriously?"
Arthur muttered, lowering his weapon slightly.
Absalom's three glowing eyes narrowed as he raised his free hand.
From his palm, a thousand crimson orbs materialized, each radiating lethal energy.
Without warning, the orbs shot forward at lightspeed, targeting Arthur's summons and obliterating them in a series of precise, devastating explosions.
The remaining orbs turned their deadly gaze toward Arthur and Gaia.
"Uh-oh."
Gaia muttered.
Arthur acted quickly, grabbing Gaia in a bridal carry and teleporting them both out of harm's way just as the barrage struck the building they had been standing on, reducing it to rubble.
The pair reappeared in the air, floating high above the battlefield.
Arthur released Gaia.
"You alright, Gaia?"
Gaia nodded, though her face was a mix of worry and exasperation.
"Yeah, but next time, maybe warn me before you teleport us into the sky."
Arthur smirked faintly, though his gaze was locked back on Absalom, who now looked up at them, his massive form exuding a menacing aura.
"Alright, big guy."
Arthur said, gripping Starfall in one hand and Excalibur Destruction in the other.
"Let's see if you can keep up in round... *Sigh* you know what?"
Arthur then stored both his weapons away and said.
"Fuck this. *Snap*"
The once chaotic battlefield transformed into a tranquil blue sea under a clear morning sky as Arthur snapped his fingers, dissolving the Land of Steel.
He and Gaia landed softly on a lone island with a single tree, the calm waves gently lapping at the shore.
Across the vast expanse of holy water, Absalom's massive form stood waist-deep in the ocean, his blood-red body steaming violently where it touched the holy-infused sea.
Absalom's golden eyes narrowed, his voice a rumble that shook the skies.
"A SEA OF HOLY WATER... CLEVER... BUT FUTILE."
Arthur smirked, snapping his fingers again.
*Snap*
From the ocean and sky, thousands of giant holy chains erupted, latching onto Absalom's limbs, wings, and body.
Each chain glowed with radiant energy, sizzling as they restrained the colossal form.
Absalom roared, thrashing against the bindings, managing to snap a few, but for every broken chain, two more emerged, larger and stronger than the last.
Arthur casually dusted his hands, watching the scene unfold.
"You know, I could already see where this fight is going. We fight, I get knocked out, I power up, you lose, you get back up stronger, and then it's me getting dominated again. It's like some bad anime rerun. So, screw it, no more clichés. I've decided on the next best thing that sometimes work. Putting your ass inside me... Okay, pause, that sounded weird out of context. I meant to say sealing you away inside my Longinus."
Absalom went eerily silent, his glowing eyes fixed on Arthur as he strained against the chains.
"YOU DAMN FOOL! YOU DARE IMPRISON ME? A GOD? YOU WILL NEVER WITHSTAND MY WILL!"
Beside him, Gaia's face was a mix of shock and concern.
"Arthur, you realize what you're saying, right? You're willing to turn yourself into a living container for one of the most dangerous beings in the world? Do you even understand the risks?"
Arthur nodded confidently, his gaze locked on the struggling Blood God.
"Yup. I'm fully aware of the risks."
Gaia's voice rose slightly as she stepped closer.
"No, you don't get it! If you imprison him inside you, his soul will be tied to your soul through your Longinus. There's a very real chance he could influence you! Worst-case scenario, he will take over your body!"
Arthur glanced at her briefly, then back at Absalom as more chains encased the towering figure.
"Yeah, yeah, I get it. Big bad inner demon and all that. Honestly, I'd be disappointed if he didn't try. But think about it. I'll probably gain Nephalem powers from this, AND everyone is safe from Absalom. It's pretty much a win-win. Besides, it's mandatory for the main character to have an inner demon, literally. Might as well lean into the trope."
Gaia stared at him, dumbfounded.
"That's the stupidest thing I've ever heard."
Arthur grinned, unfazed.
"Maybe. But what's there to worry about? I've got you, don't I?"
For a moment, Gaia looked at him like he'd completely lost it.
Then, her expression softened into a smile.
"You're a fool, Arthur. But I guess I have no choice but to support my foolish partner."
Arthur chuckled, giving her a thumbs-up.
"Knew I could count on you."
*ROAR!*
Absalom roared and thrashed with unrelenting fury, his colossal form straining against the holy chains as more wrapped around him, binding him tighter with every move.
The air crackled with his rage, his voice booming across the endless sea.
The blood god's glowing golden eyes burned with defiance, even as his movements began to slow under the sheer weight of the chains.
Arthur teleported directly in front of Absalom's massive face, arms crossed and a smirk plastered across his face.
"Welp, get ready, Absalom. Because this is gonna be the start of a very abusive relationship."
He said casually.
*Splash!*
From the clear blue sea behind Absalom, a massive Pokéball erupted from the water, its size rivaled that of the blood god himself.
The ball hovered ominously for a moment before snapping open, creating a vacuum that began to pull Absalom in.
The chains glowed brighter, tightening further as they dragged Absalom toward the glowing core of the Pokéball.
"NOOOO!!!"
His wings flapped desperately, his claws dug into the air, but it was all futile.
As his massive form was sucked into the sphere, he managed one final defiant outburst.
"MARK MY WORDS, ARTHUR OF GREY HAVEN! FROM THIS MOMENT ON, YOU WILL NEVER FIND PEACE IN THE NIGHT! I WILL HAUNT YOU IN YOUR DREAMS! YOU WILL NEVER REST AND WHEN YOU DO, I WILL MAKE YOU WATCH AS I TAKE AWAY EVERYTHING YOU LO-"
Before he could finish, the Pokéball snapped shut, cutting off his monologue mid-sentence.
The colossal sphere shrank down rapidly, compressing until it was no bigger than a baseball, glowing faintly as it fell neatly into Arthur's outstretched palm.
Arthur held the Pokéball up, staring at it in silence as it wiggled slightly in his grip, beeping red in protest.
The struggle continued for a moment, but then the ball gave a final *ding* and settled, signaling the completion of the capture.
*Pokémon Capture Sound Effect*
Out of nowhere, the iconic Pokémon Capture Sound Effect echoed across the sea, followed by a notification that appeared in Arthur's HUD.
XxX
Gotcha! Absalom was caught!
XxX
Arthur blinked, stunned into silence for a moment.
He glanced at the notification, then back at the Pokéball in his hand.
"...Okay."
Beside him, Gaia buried her face in her hands, caught somewhere between wanting to laugh and sighing at the absurdity of it all.
