Chapter 107: Chapter 107 The deadly clash
The classroom was silent, an unnatural stillness settling over the room. The students who had remained to witness the confrontation between Abigail and Damian pressed themselves against the walls, too terrified to move. Desks were scattered, the air crackled with tension, and the faint scent of ozone hinted at the raw magic lingering in the atmosphere.
Abigail stood in the center of the room, her brown eyes glowing with malice, her brunnet hair cascading over her shoulders like a shadow. Her hand was raised, a deadly arrow of swirling black and green energy forming at her fingertips. The poison dripping from it sizzled as it hit the ground, burning small holes in the tiled floor.
"You've underestimated me for the last time, Damian," she hissed, her voice dripping with venom.
Damian stood across from her, his hazel eyes calm but unreadable. His tall figure loomed over her, his hands tucked casually into his pockets as though the threat she posed was insignificant. His presence radiated an unsettling aura of restrained power, like a storm waiting to be unleashed.
"You think a poisoned arrow will stop me, Abigail?" Damian said, his voice low and cold. "Do you even understand who you're dealing with?"
Abigail snarled, her pride stinging at his dismissal. "You're nothing but a pretender! I'll show everyone what a fraud you are!"
With a sharp flick of her wrist, she released the arrow, sending it hurtling toward him at lightning speed.
The arrow tore through the air with a high-pitched whistle, leaving a trail of toxic mist in its wake. The students screamed, scrambling for cover. But Damian didn't flinch.
He raised a hand, and with a mere thought, a golden barrier shimmered into existence before him. The arrow struck the barrier, exploding in a burst of dark energy that rattled the windows and scorched the walls. When the smoke cleared, Damian stood unharmed, his gaze fixed on Abigail.
"Is that all?" he asked, his tone bored.
Abigail's frustration boiled over. She conjured another arrow, this one larger and more lethal, and hurled it with a furious scream. Damian sidestepped effortlessly, the arrow embedding itself in the chalkboard behind him and dissolving into a puddle of acidic green goo.
"You're playing with fire, Abigail," Damian warned, his voice carrying a sharp edge.
"And you're all talk!" Abigail snapped, summoning a wave of dark tendrils that snaked toward him, their tips dripping with venom.
---
Damian moved like a shadow, his speed blurring as he dodged the tendrils. He raised his hand, summoning a whip of golden light that crackled with energy. With a flick of his wrist, the whip lashed out, severing the tendrils and sending sparks flying.
Abigail snarled in frustration, her hands glowing with black fire as she hurled orbs of destruction at him. Damian countered with precision, deflecting each orb with shields of light that burst into radiant sparks on impact.
The classroom was a battlefield. Desks were overturned, the walls were scorched, and the air was thick with the acrid smell of burnt magic. The students watched in stunned silence, their fear mingling with awe.
"You can't win, Abigail," Damian said, his voice cutting through the chaos.
Abigail's eyes burned with fury. "We'll see about that."
She raised her hands, and the room darkened. Shadows seeped from the corners, coiling around her like living things. The temperature dropped, frost forming on the windows.
"I'll end this here and now," she hissed, her voice echoing unnaturally.
---
Abigail unleashed her full power, a tidal wave of darkness surging toward Damian. The force of it shattered windows and sent a deafening roar through the room.
For a moment, it seemed Damian would be overwhelmed. But then, something changed.
Damian closed his eyes, his body radiating a dark energy that rivaled Abigail's. When he opened them again, they glowed with an eerie golden light. His calm demeanor shattered, replaced by something far more primal and terrifying.
His body began to transform. Two massive black wings erupted from his back, their feathers sharp and glistening like obsidian. Horns curled from his head, twisting upward like a crown of darkness. His skin took on a faint metallic sheen, and his hands morphed into clawed appendages that crackled with golden and black energy.
The students gasped, their terror reaching new heights.
"What...what are you? You're not only a witch you're something more" Abigail whispered, her voice trembling for the first time.
Damian's lips curled into a sinister smile. "You wanted to see my true power. Now, you'll regret it."
---
Before Abigail could react, Damian moved with inhuman speed, closing the distance between them in the blink of an eye. He struck with his claws, slashing through her defenses and sending her sprawling across the room.
She scrambled to her feet, summoning a barrier of shadows, but Damian shattered it with a single blow. The force sent her crashing into the wall, cracks spiderwebbing around her.
Abigail coughed, blood trickling from the corner of her mouth. "This...isn't over," she spat, struggling to stand.
Damian loomed over her, his golden eyes glowing with an unholy light. "You're right. It isn't over. But you've lost—for now."
Abigail's eyes flickered with fear and defiance. She raised a hand, summoning a portal of shadows behind her. "You'll regret this, Damian," she said, her voice shaking.
She stepped into the portal and vanished, leaving behind only a faint trace of her dark energy.
---
The room was silent, save for the crackling of residual magic. Damian's transformation slowly receded, his wings and horns dissolving into black mist. He stood in the center of the ruined classroom, his chest rising and falling with heavy breaths.
The students stared at him in stunned silence, their faces pale with fear.
"What just happened?" someone whispered.
"Is he even human?" another murmured.
Damian ignored them, his thoughts racing. Abigail's escape meant she would be back, more dangerous than ever. And now, the secret of his true nature was out.
With a final glance at the destroyed classroom, Damian turned and walked away, his mind already preparing fpr locating Lamia, what has he done?
Will he be able to locate his love and heartbeat Lamia Alexandria.
