Hexbound Apocalypse [LitRPG Apocalypse] (Book 3 Finished!)

Chapter 198: Not Alone (End of Book 3)

Hazel and the others further discussed the possibilities regarding the High Elves' knowledge regarding the system and how one of the other worlds that were part of the grand universe that they were in was likely responsible for informing them of it.

One of their main concerns involving this topic was why one of the other worlds did this in the first place. It made no sense that someone from another world would notify the Dark Elves about the system. Not unless they were after something. But what exactly was that?

What did the other worlders desire from their world? And why did they go to the High Elves of all people? Did they believe that the High Elves could accomplish whatever their goal was? And what exactly did the High Elves gain from following the other worlder's request? Was it power? Knowledge? What?

Hazel couldn't understand what the High Elves were after. And Astrid, along with the others from her world, was just as stumped. According to them, the High Elves were very prideful and arrogant people. They viewed themselves as superior in every way and would look down on anyone inferior to them. And in this case, that was practically every living being on the planet. In their eyes, at least.

This likely meant one thing, and that was that the High Elves viewed these other worlders as either their equals...or superiors. And both possibilities sent shivers down everyone's spine.

Regardless of what they currently knew and what their theories entailed, their main concern at the moment was the looming threat that was the High Elves. They were clearly working with the other worlders, which explained how they knew about the system beforehand. As for what the other worlders were after, perhaps it had something to do with what the High Elves were doing right now.

There was a civil war happening in the Great Forest of Meir. Whatever the other worlders were planning, it had to involve the civil war in some way. Which is why Hazel and Astrid planned to leave with Tine and Runa as soon as possible.

Tomorrow night, in fact.

Once their meeting was over, everyone went their separate ways for the night. Zoe guided Tine and Runa to a place where they could rest while they resided in the Valiant Guild's territory. As for Mara, she left with her people and returned to their guild.

Well, not before she had someone on one with Dolk and his companions. After Astrid approved of it, of course. Chegyaeyi went back to helping with the cleanup after the battle. There wasn't much left to clean, but she still wanted to assist in any way she could.

Astrid, meanwhile, finally took care of Dolk and the other dark elves. And...it wasn't pretty in the least. Hazel didn't know the details...but she knew that her partner didn't show any mercy to those who betrayed her. And she made sure that those bastards would repent...in the afterlife, anyway.

Hazel also joined in the clean-up. Her main reason for doing this was to help the Orcs and other monsters from the tribe to get used to the other players they were cooperating with. Originally, they were enemies. But right now, while under Hazel's command, they were allies, so she wanted to help with this.

A couple of hours passed by, and the entire battle was finally dealt with. It took a lot longer to deal with since there was not only a lot of corpses to pick up and transport, but also a lot of damage done to the Jetport building during the attack. Thankfully, they were able to deal with the debris with the help of Hazel's telekinesis spell, allowing her to pick up multiple objects at once without much effort.

After the clean-up job was over, everyone started leaving to go off and do their own thing. As for Grag'bog, he and his people decided to return to their village. Hazel offered to let them stay for the night, but he declined, saying that their current arrangements were satisfactory and they didn't wish to rely on them for shelter.

So, they left as soon as they were done. Grag'bog and Hazel did promise one another that they would talk further regarding their current arrangements involving their partnership with the Valiant Guild. At least before she and Astrid would start their trip to the Great Forest of Meir.

With nothing else left to do, Hazel roamed the Jetport building for a while. She walked the halls and areas of the building as it was bustling with players and the like. Many players were still being healed from the battle, whether it was from potions or spells from the clerics.

She also walked past her mom as she was healing several players as well. A part of her wanted to talk to her mom, but she refrained so she could let her work.

After a bit of strolling, Hazel decided to head back up to the roof. It was one of the few places where she could be alone and think. And there was a lot of thinking on her mind at the moment. She climbed the stairs, slowly making it to the roof as she passed several players running about on her way.

Making it to the door of the roof, she opened it up but stopped in her tracks as soon as she saw something interesting before her.

"Astrid...?" She said, looking at the edge of the roof where her dark elf partner was. "What are you doing here?"

Astrid slowly turned around, sparing a glance at Hazel. That was when she noticed that her partner wore a sad expression before turning back around to face the forest in front of her.

"Just...thinking, I guess," She said calmly.

"Well, I guess we're in the same boat then."

Hazel walked through the door and slowly sauntered toward the edge of the roof where Astrid was. Standing by her side, the two players gazed into the forest before them, taking in the view.

All the while, Hazel's mind raced with more questions. What was she going to expect when she arrived at the Great Forest of Mier? Was her brother really okay? And more importantly, just what exactly were the High Elves and other worlders planning? And could she protect her family from all these threats?

She could feel a wave of turmoil wash over her, threatening to drag her deeper into the ocean of dread and anxiety. The only reason she was holding on was because she was focusing on just seeing her brother again, hoping that he was okay, until she reunited with him.

Hazel looked over at Astrid, curious as to what her partner was thinking about. She could hazard a guess that it was likely similar to what she was thinking about as well. Were her people alright? Her family? Her tribe? Much like Hazel, it was clear that she had a lot on her plate as well. And it likely wasn't going to be easy going back when everything was in so much chaos.

"I'm scared, Hazel..."

Hazel took a moment to process Astrid's words, taken aback by her sudden statement.

"I can imagine," Hazel uttered, finding no other words to try and comfort her partner.

"My tribe has been taken by the High Elves...my people are either enslaved by those arrogant bastards or on the run...and I have no idea if my family is even alive."

"Which is why it would be best for us to leave as soon as possible, so we can head over there and help."

"What if it's not enough...?" Astrid asked with a trembling voice. "What if the high elves win?"

Hazel faltered, unable to immediately answer. It wasn't that she didn't believe that to be a possibility, but she also couldn't just outright say that it wasn't going to happen. Even she was filled with uncertainty about what could transpire when they arrived at the Great Forest of Meir.

However, she couldn't say anything that could discourage Astrid. Not with how close she was to likely breaking down and crying on the spot with everything that was happening. So, she said what she could to try and encourage her instead.

"Even if the High Elves take control of Mier...that doesn't mean we can give up and let them win. You have to remember, the high elves are doing this under the orders of the Otherworlders. They want them to do this. And whatever their reason is behind it, we can't let them win."

"Then what do you suppose we do?" Astrid snapped while facing Hazel with an angry and tear-stricken face. "How are we going to deal with this?"

Hazel once again paused, finding the right words for her answer. Just as she did, a wicked smile formed on her face. A smile that displayed her malicious and evil thoughts that filled her mind as to what to do against the High Elves and the civil war as a whole.

"Seems to me that the only way to deal with the High Elves...was to completely wipe them off the map. Permanently."
