Chapter 192: Finale of the Night
All it took were several curse spears and curse bombs, and the enemies that threatened the members of the Valiant Guild were no more. Hazel's bombardment slew many, mostly the shadow creatures, and the remaining survivors quickly surrendered, bearing no desire to lose their lives.
A chorus of cheers and battle cries echoed through the forest, signaling the end of the battle. And now, they move on to the aftermath.
Both valiant guild players and monsters worked together to clean up the mess created during the battle. Zoe's people gathered any surviving players to send them to some kind of prison where they could be contained. Hazel didn't know where their makeshift prison was, but that was none of her business.
In fact, she had more pressing issues at the moment.
While the Orcs and other monsters aided the valiant guild with the clean-up, Hazel and Grag'bog walked side-by-side and conversed.
"You certainly displayed quite the spectacle," Grag'bog said with a grunt.
"Was it really that amazing?"
"It was. Not only did you single-handedly put a stop to the battle, but you did so with the appearance and actions of a deity. My people and I were in awe of your raw power, chief."
Hazel mulled over his words. While she did believe them to be simply flattery due to their current positions and relationship, there might be some truth to his statement. What she basically did upon arriving at the battle of the valiant guild's siege...was certainly close to something a powerful being like a god would do. Or at least a demi-god.
Still, Hazel was far from possessing such a status. It wasn't her being humble or anything like that. She simply believed that her current power...couldn't be even close to that of a deity. And that was true. Especially after everything she had witnessed upon the System's descent.
Then there was the fact that there were other planets that had been with the system longer than them. Much longer. Their levels and power...were something that could likely be compared to a god. Of course, that didn't mean Hazel was going to stop growing stronger.
While she was late in the game, that only meant that she needed to push herself harder and surpass her limits. She wanted to do this to stand before the other beings watching them and defend her world from them. That was all that mattered to Hazel right now. Protecting the people she cared about...and killing anyone who threatened them.
She may not be able to do that now...but that didn't mean she wouldn't reach that threshold. Not all that soon, anyway.
Putting that all aside, Hazel and Grag'bog soon made it over to where Astrid, Zoe, and Mara were. Sitting before them in a row were all the dark elves that managed to capture, including the Dolk. Their bodies were currently tied up and bound, preventing them from escaping. Even if they got past that, they still needed to evade Hazel to actually escape the Valiant Guild's territory.
Approaching the trio and prisoners, Zoe was the first to notice Hazel and Grag'bog's presence and turned to greet them.
"Hello, Hazel," The Callahan knight said. "I would like to personally thank you for protecting my people."
Hazel shook her hands. "It's fine. Besides, my mom is part of your guild, so this was the natural thing for me to do, you know?"
"Still, I am grateful to you that my guild is still standing."
She shrugged. "Well, you're welcome and all. Anyway," Her eyes looked past the knight and stared directly at her dark elf partner, still standing before her former companions who betrayed her. "How's Astrid?"
Zoe followed her gaze, glancing at the dark elf as well with a solemn expression. "She's been glaring at them since we caught them all and lined them up in front of her. Dolk and the other dark elves haven't said a word either. Their just...staring at one another. Intensely, at that."
Hazel stood there for a moment, pondering over what she should do. Now that Astrid was confronting the people who betrayed her, she really couldn't get in the way of her revenge. Still, this prolonged silence was rather concerning to her.

She then let out a heavy sigh before calmly and carefully walking over to her partner. Once she was a couple of feet away from her, she stopped in her tracks and stood behind the dark elf.
"Astrid..." She uttered her name, somewhat hesitant to continue. "While I can't understand your pain and anger toward them, I do believe that it would be best...to settle the matter with them in a more private area. Do you agree?"
Astrid didn't say a word for a few moments and simply continued to glare at the dark elves before her. Thankfully, after a bit of grueling silence, she finally responded.
"Yeah...I guess you're right." Astrid then turned to Zoe with a neutral expression, clearly hiding the anger she bore toward her betrayers. "Where can we take these fools so I can have a, shall we say, heart-to-heart?"
Her last words were said with a menacing expression as if she were asking Zoe where she could properly torture the traitors of her village. However, that could very well be the case, knowing how enraged Astrid was toward her former companions.
Zoe faltered while trying to reply, taken aback by the dark elf's cold words and expression. Thankfully, she was able to compose herself and responded accordingly.
"The third floor is barely used, and there are several rooms that you can use for privacy. Should I call some people to help you bring them there?"
Astrid shook her head. "No need. I believe Hazel can handle that much, right?" She said while staring at her partner.
Hazel shrugged. "If that's what you want, then I'd be happy to oblige."
Nodding her head in response, the dark elf hunter stepped aside and allowed Hazel to approach Dolk and his treacherous allies. Then, she raised her hand and cast Telekinesis on all five dark elves, casually lifting them in the air with ease.
Hazel looked at Astrid. "Let's get moving, partner."
The dark elf hunter nodded. "Yeah."
The two players then escorted the dark elf prisoners into the Jetport Base, leaving Zoe and Mara behind to witness them enter. Watching them leave, the two knights glanced at one another.
"Well, that happened," Mara said.
"Indeed. I hope that things won't end up difficult for us while Astrid is interrogating her former people."
"I'll say. I still need to at least give that Dolk and Esil bastard a piece of my mind after attacking us. Of course, I should also do the same for you as well," She said while glaring at Zoe.
The Callahan Knight looked away nervously. "If you have any complaints, then I would suggest directing them toward Hazel and Astrid since it was their plan in the first place."
"Tch...!" Mara clicked her tongue. "There's no way I'm going to try and approach either of them. Especially that dark elf. I know that look in her eye all too well to try anything right now. For now...it would be best to let her vent her frustration out on the people who caused it. I can wait for my turn with those bastards until then."
. . .
Hazel and Astrid made their way up to the third floor of the Jetport, all the while the five treacherous dark elves levitated in the air, silently waiting for what was to come in a few short moments.
Making it to the third floor, the pair scanned the area before spotting a door to their right. Astrid calmly walked over to it and opened it up to see what was inside. When she did, her eyes glanced back at Hazel as she gestured toward her.
"This place will do. There's only one entrance and it's big enough to hold all of them and me, so we can...talk things out."
Hazel felt a chill crawl down her spine after hearing that last part. She did her best to hide her expression, not wanting to let her partner be aware of her reaction. Maintaining a firm poker face, she proceeded to put all five dark elves into the room. Surprisingly enough, none of them, including Dolk, had said a word after their capture. They've been eerily silent this whole time, which concerned Hazel quite a bit.
However, she had no right to do anything to them. That right belonged to Astrid. And she wasn't going to get in the way of her revenge. Not when it was right in front of her.
Once the dark elves were placed in the room, Hazel took a couple of steps back, allowing her partner to approach the entrance. Before Astrid could enter, Hazel spoke up.
"I know that I might be overstepping, but if you want me to be in there with you, then I can. Even if it's only for moral support."
Hazel could tell that this was a sensitive subject for Astrid. And while she didn't believe that anything would happen to her, she couldn't help but worry. However, Astrid seemed to have different plans.
"I appreciate the thought, Hazel," She said calmly. "But this is something that I need to do myself. So, just trust me on this, okay?"
Although Hazel was hesitant to follow through, she was left with no choice. Not when her partner gave her such a calm and confident smile when she said this.
She expelled a sigh while scratching her head. "Alright, fine. I'll leave it to you."
Saying her piece, she turned around and left. When she spared a glance at her partner, she watched as the door slowly closed as Astrid entered. And for a moment...she noticed that her expression was especially...grim.
She groaned. "Maybe it was a good idea for me not to join her."
She could only imagine what kind of hell those dark elves were about to experience now that they were under the mercy of their former leader. And something told her that it wasn't going to be a pleasant time for any of them.
While walking away from the room, Hazel suddenly stopped when she was confronted by two familiar faces.
"Lady Hazel," The Elf, Tine said while slightly bowing. "If it's possible, could we have a moment of your time?"
Right...aside from what was happening with Astrid at the moment, Hazel had her own problems to deal with at the moment. And now that the battle was over...it was time to find out what exactly her brother had been up to.
