Hero or Villain, Both

Once all of the Perfumers that were going to explore the ruins gathered and made their preparations, they immediately headed out.

It was clear that the Perfumers didn't want anyone else finding out about these ruins, which was why they were in this rush.

Even if they cleared the area with the beast stampedes, it wasn't as if this would last forever.

So they had to make use of the time that they bought for themselves to find what they could from these ruins.

When they arrived, there wasn't much for them to see.

No one was surprised since they had already been briefed on this, but it was still a bit hard for them to accept.

After all, these ruins were nothing more than a few holes that led into the ground.

When they looked closely, they could see that these were tunnels that led deep into the ground. It was just that no matter how they looked at it, it really didn't seem like there was anything special about this place.

In the end, they still went down.

After all, they had received orders to go down from the higher ups and they believed that the higher ups wouldn't send them to a place that was completely empty.

They believed that there would be the treasures that they had been expecting to find in this place.

After they arrived at the entrance, the Perfumers started moving in groups.

They had arrived together to make sure that no one noticed them, but they didn't remain in these same groups. After all, it wasn't as if all of these Perfumers worked with each other.

They had their own relationships among themselves and people that they wanted to work with.

As for my team, it was the same beautiful girl from before who was named Lilith.

This really was the right name for her with the way that she kept trying to seduce Billy.

If it wasn't for the fact that Billy had been turned into a puppet, it would have most likely worked.

But because he was a puppet, it wasn't as if he would be affected by anything.

Other than this, there were a few others that had chosen to follow us.

It was easy to tell what kind of people they were, especially with the way that they acted.

"Brother Billy, thanks for letting us come with you."

"Brother Billy, for someone of your level, this should be a walk in the park."

"Brother Billy, we're all counting on you!"

These were those that were at the lowest among the talented youths. They might have some talent, but they weren't on the same level as the others.

In fact, they had gotten to their current position by flattering others and receiving benefits because of it.

As such, it was only normal for them to start following Billy as he was the most favoured out of all the candidates that were here. They were trying to see if they could get any of his scraps from following him.

But I didn't mind since there was a use for them.

Once we entered, it didn't take long for us to completely lose the others that came in with us. The tunnels that were in front of us were long and winding, so it didn't take long for every group to be separated.

Once we were alone, I suddenly stopped and said, "Help me set something up."

The other Perfumers were surprised to hear this, but they still followed my orders since they were here to leech off me. They didn't seem to think that I would actually do anything to harm them.

But in reality…

Once the altar was set up, the others in my group couldn't help looking at me with a strange look.

After all, they had no idea what this altar was for and they could feel some kind of ominous feeling coming from it. They really didn't like the way that this altar looked after all.

"Brother Billy, what is this?" One of them asked in a tentative voice in the end.

Turning around to look at them, I said, "It's the beginning and the end for all of you. This will guide you onto a new path."

All of the Perfumers seemed to tremble when they heard this and they couldn't help taking a step back.

It was just that it was already too late as I had already activated the altar.

The moment that the altar activated, there was this energy that suddenly appeared before it took the shape of a figure. The moment that this figure formed, there was also this sensation of death that appeared.

Before any of the young Perfumers could do anything, there was this green light that suddenly hit them on the forehead and all of them collapsed to the ground.

This was just like how Billy had collapsed to the ground the first time that he had been hit with this same green light.

Once Faust's figure finished appearing, he didn't say anything as he walked over to these young Perfumers whose souls he had just shattered and he started working on them.

There was no one else that came from the altar after Faust appeared.

After all, there was no need for anyone else to come in person yet.

That was the reason that I had lured all of these young perfumers in.

What Faust was doing now was preparing them to be turned into puppets so that we would be able to use their bodies to explore this place.

After all, no one would suspect a group of Perfumers for sabotaging this trip.

It was a good thing that the Advanced Perfumers were waiting outside or else it certainly wouldn't have been this easy.

But they didn't come in since this was a training trip for the young Perfumers.

As long as they weren't in mortal danger, they wouldn't step in.

It was just too bad that they couldn't detect when a young Perfumer's soul was shattered.

"Alright, they're done." Faust said before sending the soul imprints to the others.
