Hero or Villain, Both

Chapter 314: We’re all coming to screw them over

"Are you sure that it has that thing?"

This was a question that was asked for one person, this was a question that was asked for everyone.

Even Faust who was with me looked at me as if he was pressuring me to answer this question.

With a shake of my head, I said with a sigh, "That's right. I've confirmed that they haven't gotten that item yet, so it has to be where they found that thing."

The moment that I said this, Faust's eyes lit up.

Even though I couldn't see the other avatars, I knew that the same thing was happening with them.

After all, the thing that they were referring to was quite the powerful item.

It was something that we knew about because we knew the future of the game.

The Perfumers were already a powerful faction in the wilderness, but they weren't a top faction yet. However, they were supposed to become a top faction in the future and there was a reason why.

It was all because of the item that we were referring to.

When I found out through Billy that the Perfumers still hadn't obtained that item yet, I knew that this had to be the place that they found it. After all, this was a ruin that we didn't know about at all.

If we didn't know about it, it must mean that this wasn't something that was available in the game and that there was something that was already taken from this place.

The only thing that it could be was that item with how much importance the Perfumers were showing this operation.

Once everyone calmed down, Faust said for them all, "Since that's the case, we have to get involved in this matter."

The main reason that I had called this was to see if anyone thought that we should get involved.

But the moment that item was brought up, it seemed like everyone was determined to get involved no matter what.

Though it would be a lie to say that this wasn't the reason that I had called for this meeting.

I also knew how important that item was and I had wanted to get it as well.

But if everyone were to agree to go and get it, then it wouldn't be my decision alone. It would be a decision that everyone made together instead of a decision that one person made.

Still, it wasn't as if they couldn't see through me since we were all the same person technically.

It was all about ignoring things like this to maximize our gains.

"How many of you will be coming?" I asked everyone when they made up their minds.

"All of us preferably, but we have to find out when they will be heading to the ruins so we can gather everyone. Otherwise if they do it while one or multiple of us are busy, we won't be able to come." Gran Jurad said for everyone.

This was something that no one argued with since they knew that it was the truth.

"I'll find out what I can and then relay it to you. They're still working on clearing out the area, so we'll see what happens later."

"Alright."

With that set, there really wasn't anything else that had to be said.

However, no one left the meeting as we all just remained there in silence.

In the end, Gran Jurad took the lead to say, "They've come for the property of one of us, which means that they are coming for all of us. Since they're coming for all of us, that means that all of us will get revenge on them."

He really was getting more and more like a hero with how he was getting better at these rousing speeches.

Though in reality, we all knew what he was really trying to say.

"We're all gathering to screw them over, we won't let them off." That was what he said on the surface.

But in reality, what we were all thinking was…

"Treasure! We won't let this treasure escape our hands!"

That was just how powerful the item that we were hoping to get was.

If we could get it, it really would be a complete game changer.

Once he finished his speech, Gran Jurad said, "Everyone prepare everything that you have. We won't let them off."

Val Zahar was the first to leave the meeting in the end since he couldn't keep listening to what Gran Jurad had to say.

Once he left, the others also started leaving as well.

In the end, Gran Jurad just said, "Keep us informed."

He acted like he was the leader until the very end.

That was just part of becoming the hero, he naturally developed this commanding personality from being a hero.

After everyone else left, it was just Faust and I that were left here.

"Give me the soul imprint." Faust said all of a sudden.

I was surprised to hear this, but I still handed it over without saying anything. Though after I handed over, I did have a few questions for him.

"What are you doing with it?"

"I'm improving it. We're going to be relying on this puppet when the time comes, so I'll make it a bit easier to control and give it more functionality." He said while he seemed to be tinkering with the soul imprint.

Seeing him like this, I couldn't help asking, "Wouldn't this be considered a bit of a waste since we won't be using him long term?"

"Who says we're not?"

I was caught off guard when he said this, but Faust quickly explained, "Since he's from a prestigious line in the Perfumers, that means that he has talent. He was just unlucky enough to meet us which caused his death, but if he didn't die, then he would have surely become someone important."

I thought about it before slowly nodding in agreement.

Though I couldn't help finding it strange.

"If he's so important, why do we not remember him from the game? He should have been an important NPC if he was so important…"

Faust didn't answer since he didn't remember this Billy at all either.
