Chapter 278: My bride
"What, you can't even talk now because of my pressure? It seems like you're nothing more than low grade trash from the outer forest."
The one that had spoken before spoke once more, but the disdain grew even more in his voice as he spoke.
When I looked up, I saw that it was a humanoid figure that was floating there in the sky above us.
But the thing that I noticed right away wasn't the appearance of this humanoid figure, rather the thing that I noticed was the pair of black wings that was on the back of this humanoid figure.
This was a pair of black wings that was just like the black wings that Iris had when she flew into the air.
That meant that this person should be…a black dragon as well.
When I focused on the aura of this person, I could feel the aura of the dragon from them.
So they should be one of the black dragons from the group that Iris lived with previously before coming out to the outer forest to meet me.
It made sense that she recognized this person if this person was also a black dragon like her.
Though judging by the way that she looked at this person, it didn't seem like the relationship was a good one. It was clear that she wasn't happy to see this person even though they were a black dragon just like her.
After a long moment of silence, Iris finally asked, "What are you doing here?"
That black dragon revealed a smile when he heard this before saying, "Like I said, I was here chasing after my prey, but you stole that prey from me." Then after a pause, his smile became wider as he said, "Though it doesn't seem like it's a bad thing since I was able to find my bride in the end."
Bride?
I was a bit caught off guard when I heard this, but then again…they were both black dragons to begin with. It wasn't really strange if there was something that had been arranged for Iris back in her tribe.
The feeling that I got from her was like that of a child that had run away because they wanted to experience the world.
It was only a matter of time before she returned to her tribe, but for now she was just having fun her own way.
At the same time, the tribe that she was from would regard this as a trial for her.
It would be a lesson for her on expanding her world views.
But eventually, she would be called back to the tribe.
Though it seemed like this lesson for her would be cut short because of this interference from this black dragon.
Just based on the way that this black dragon acted, it was clear that he was nothing more than a child just like Iris. It was clear that he had run out of the tribe because he had been chasing after this Thunder Boar.
Or it might be that he had been sent to hunt this Thunder Boar by the black dragon tribe, so this could be considered a test for him.
In the end, Iris suddenly said, "I'm not your bride, I will never be your bride."
"No, you will be my bride in the end." The black dragon said in a firm and confident tone as if he could see the future.
Iris narrowed her eyes to look at the black dragon before saying, "Get lost."
The black dragon didn't seem offended by this as he just revealed a smile in response, but then that smile disappeared when he turned to look at me. Narrowing his eyes to look at me, he said, "It seems like you're not keeping proper companions by your side though."
The disdain that filled his voice couldn't be even more clear.
I didn't mind since this kind of disdain was normal from a dragon, but it seemed like Iris was offended on my behalf.
I couldn't help revealing a wry smile when I saw her glare at the black dragon like this.
I wasn't offended, so you shouldn't be either. I'm happy that you're offended on my behalf, but there's nothing to gain from this.
That was what I would have said if not for the way that the black dragon acted.
It was clear that if I said that, then he would have been offended and it would have made things worse.
"You aren't allowed to say anything about the kind of company that I keep." Iris said in a low voice.
"Then I'll just have to show you the error of your ways." The black dragon said in a threatening voice.
With the way that the two of them acted, it really seemed like a fight was about to break out.
There was a part of me that wanted to stop them, but then again…
"How would I even stop them?"
"Enough of that." There was a voice that suddenly rang out before a large gust of wind came from above that made it hard to look up.
At the same time, there was this large shadow that suddenly covered the area.
When the wind disappeared, I looked up to see a large black thing that was covering the sky.
Even without seeing what this thing was, I already knew what it was.
The only thing that it could be was a dragon and not just any normal dragon, this was clearly a black dragon that came from the same tribe as Iris and this other black dragon.
When this voice rang out, both Iris and that black dragon seemed to calm down.
At least it seemed to have a restraining effect on them, which meant that this was one of their elders.
After the large black dragon came closer, it suddenly started to shrink before taking human form as well.
This was a handsome middle aged man that suddenly came down from the sky.
