Chapter 2: Opponents
"Such a beautiful name you got there, Amara. What does that mean?" Nicolas was genuinely curious because he never heard this name before.
"Different meanings in different languages but I like to think that it means immortal," Amara said, her voice suddenly becoming a little bitter as if she had remembered something.
Nicolas noticed the change in her tone.
He wanted to ask her what it was but he felt like that would push her away. He didn't want to cross the boundaries just yet. Not when she wasn't ready to let him in.
For now, he was ok with the fact that she wasn't pushing him away and actually talking to him.
He also wanted to ask her what she meant by facing the worse but resisted the urge.
"Can you tell me how you ended up coming here?"
As much as Nicolas wanted to pick her up and take her with him, he first had to confirm that it was safe for his people.
He didn't want to risk their lives. There were so many small kids in the pack. He couldn't let them die due to his mistakes. He was their leader and he had to protect them no matter what.
If taking her to the pack house isn't safe then he was planning to take her to his penthouse.
Either way, he was going to keep her with himself and ensure that no matter what, she is safe and so were his people.
"I came from the Redwood pack," Amara slowly said in a voice full of pain.
Her eyes filled up with pain while Nicolas's eyes filled up with hatred, shock, anger, confusion, and many more emotions.
'Redwood' pack was the opponent to the 'Bluemoon' pack. Both packs hate each other because of the never-ending fight going on between them.
And especially the Alphas hated each other more than anything in this entire world.
Nicolas was the alpha of one of these packs so his hatred was understandable.
"What were you doing there? Are you a member of that pack?" His voice was now one that has changed its tone.
Amara looked at him with tearful eyes.
"Used to be, if you count an omega to be a pack member," she said, her words were slightly broken.
One sentence and a glance at her eyes were enough for Nicolas to forget everything. He didn't want to hurt her but at the same time, he felt like he unintentionally ended up hurting her.
His already burning rage towards the redwood pack was now over the surface. She just gave him another reason to hate that darn pack.
He could instantly guess that she was mistreated there.
"Did they hurt you and that's why you are here?" He frowned.
Deep inside he wanted the answer to be no. He doesn't even want to think about the possibility that someone as pure as her was bullied.
But we don't always get what we want. She nodded her head and his eyes started burning.
Her body was shaking and he felt the strong urge to hug her. And without thinking about the situation, he ended up pulling her towards himself.
Now both of them could feel each other, a little too closely.
He closed his eyes and cursed himself for hugging her in this state. His blood started boiling under her touch and he could feel himself getting excited.
He didn't want her to think that despite her being in pain, he wanted to fuck her.
"I think it's better if we move to our pack. I will listen to the rest of your story there. I also need to wear some clothes," he said, clearly his throat. He wanted to throw himself on the ground and break his bones.
"I hugged her without her consent and that too in this state. I am such an jerk, I should simply die," he mentally groaned.
Amara cheeks turned into a deep pink shade.
When Nicolas saw her cheeks, he already could guess what she was thinking about. She clearly understood what he was going through.
He was extremely embarrassed.
"She is going to see me naked in the future either way. It's not an big deal . I need to get a grip on my self-control," he thought to pull himself out of the embarrassment.
He transformed again and this time, into a wolf. He signed in relief.
"At least, this nakedness won't bother her."
She looked into his eyes which were now golden. It was the shade of warm sunshine on melted honey.
He came in front her and lowered his head again. This time he didn't want her to touch him, it was an indication for her to get on his back.
She clearly understood what he meant and did that.
He started running so fast that she felt like everything around them has become blurry. All she could see was a greenish fog kind of thing.
She got a tighter grip on his fur but still the fear that she might fall off was there deeply rooted in her heart.
She later holds his neck with both of her arms. Her hair was floating in the air, eyes were closed due to the harsh slaps of the wind.
Nicolas liked what was going on. He absolutely adored her body heat against his.
She suddenly opened her eyes and something flashed into them. She looked at the back of Nicolas's head and later at her grip around his neck.
She holds his neck even tighter.
Nicolas thought that she was getting scared of his speed. Hence, he decided to go a little slower.
Amara now could see her surrounding a little more clearly.
They were running through the green forest. Everything was dressed in different shades of green. She was insecure that if she tries to walk on the road then she would stumble and fall over her face.
Nicolas being able to run on this seemed nothing less than magic to her.
Tall trees blocked every sound from the outside and the sound of Nicolas's paws slapping against the mud was the only thing she could hear.
Other than this the forest was as silent as it could get. It seemed like the depth of an ocean. Silent and scary.
The trees seemed like giants that would come alive anytime and devour them.
Soon, her eyes falls on a small village-like thing with beautiful wooden houses.
Flower plants were everywhere and she could see a few women with their children.
She could guess where they have reached. It was going to be her future home aka the 'Bluemoon' pack.
A sudden urge to burn everything down ignited inside her heart.
Step one was done.
