Chapter 5: SHOPPING
______________
1 Year Later
Pishka POV
I'd walked down the stairs to the kitchen for breakfast - for a change in my routine, - once inside the kitchen I walked to the cabinet to see that they were empty upon being opened. Next, I open the fridge only to see three pizzas from last night, I wasn't in the mood for pizza so I went searching for daddy and aunty. I found my daddy in the lounge, sitting on a one-man couch. Tapping away on his phone busy with social media, I tapped him on his shoulder.
Daddy: Hmmmm...
He didn't even bother to look up at me. I was curious to know who he was talking to, but when my tummy made a small growl I remembered why I was looking for him
Pishka: Daddy can we go shopping, there is no food in the house
Daddy: Uhhhh... But I have an unexpected meeting and the shop is just around the corner
He looks up from his phone, to look at me as if thinking
Daddy: Okay, I can drop you off that way I can show you where it is so that you can catch a cab or I could come and pick you up later on, cause I need to go
Pishka: Okay daddy but I am not walking back here, you are gonna have to come back to pick me up. I will also need some spending money, daddy
Daddy: Mmmmh, you love money too much, Kapish
He pulls out his wallet and gives me $ 400.
Pishka: It's because I like expensive things and I got them from you daddy.
I innocently smile while hugging him
Daddy: Me? I don't love money like you, but I think you gonna have to take a cab back. I will WhatsApp you the house's address
He takes out another $ 400 and hands it to me, he then takes out his phone and goes back on WhatsApp. I nearly growl out in frustration but a ring from my phone stops me. Pulling out my phone from my back pocket, I see the house address dad sent me
Pishka: Thanks daddy, I got it.
Daddy: Good, now let's go.
Pishka: Wait, what about aunty?
Daddy: She went to work earlier but she said she'll follow behind us later when she's done with her work. She will meet you at the mall if you are still there when she gets there. Let's go
He gets up with his phone and earphones in hand, grabs his keys from the bowl at the door, heading for the car. I just roll my eyes at the thought of aunty also having to go to work today
These people must really love their jobs, I must say that's one thing they sure have in common. No wonder they are together
Pishka: Okay.
We enter the car and drive off to the mall, I asked aunty over a WhatsApp message, while I was still in the car if she was coming and she said maybe. When we arrived at the mall, it was pretty and bigger than the one we had back home in South Africa, in Cape Town. It kind of made me feel homesick and a bit sad, I got out of the car after saying my goodbyes and kissing his cheek
Daddy: Make sure to go straight back home when you are done!
He shouts out from the window, I don't look back but answer back in an annoyed tone
Pishka: Yesss daddy
While walking I put my headphones on and went touring, it looked so beautiful. Even saw a pair of snickers I liked behind a window in a store, they only cost $ 160. I walk inside the store. I walk up to an assistant and she smiles at me
Assistant: Can I help you?
Pishka: I was wondering if I could get this pair of snickers in a size six and a half
Her eyes grew for a second and she look at my feet, then got back her composure
Assistant: Yes, of course
She walks to the back into a door that said 'Storage' on it. She came back 10 minutes later, with a pair of sneakers. When I tried on the shoes, they were bigger than I thought, she smiled a bit relieved and hand me another box she had. I tried it on and it fitted me perfectly, after paying for my snickers, I walked out of the store - turns out that the store sells shoes mainly for men so my size was big in men's wear so I understand her point of view now
Arriving at the food court, I bought three large packets of rice cakes, a chocolate chip muffin and a bottle of coke zero. I put the things in my backpack. Walking around and looking at stores in the building I saw all kinds of stores ones from back home in the Cape, new ones I never knew about and ones I heard of but never got to see or go into. During this whole discovery of new things, my phone rings causing me to stop walking and take out my phone to check the caller ID. Seeing it is aunty, I answer it quickly
Pishka: Hello aunty.
Aunty(Natasha): Hello Kapish, where are you? I'm outside in front of the mall
Hearing that I sigh in relief and joy, unintentionally my walking pace quickens so I can get rid of these heavy plastic bags quicker
Pishka: I'm heading to the entrance right now
I exit the building only to find her outside the mall in a black car right in front of the entrance. Something I was grateful for, I dropped the call and walked to the car, with the bags in my hands. While loading my stuff in the boot, I felt a bit sad for some reason but I ignored it. I opened the cars passenger door, climbing into the car to see my grinning Aunty, looking at me with a strange look in her eyes
Aunty: Hello, my baby
She leaned forward to hug me and I hugged back while replying
Pishka: Hello aunty, how are you?
Aunty: I'm good and you?
Pishka: I'm okay, just a little tired
I said while giving her a weary smile, trying my best not to disappoint her
Aunty: There is a beautiful shop I saw that is selling beautiful dresses for formal parties and your dad did say his party is a formal wear party
I look away as I mumble under my breath
Pishka: With snobby rich kids
Aunty: What was that dear?
Pishka: Nothing!
I smile innocently as she eyes me suspiciously. Seeing nothing wrong Natasha smiles back and quickly changes the topic to distract me
Aunty: Of course, he doesn't dear. Now come let's go get you a beautiful dress so that I can show them, how beautiful my daughter is ~
She smiles excitedly again while I just settle with rolling my eyes and staring out of the window
She always knows how to shop for clothes but I love her for it. Because she does help me pick out my outfits ~
Pishka: Yes, Aunt Nat
We arrive at the shop about half an hour later, Natasha hurriedly got out of the car and entered the big store with a grumpy me right tagging behind her. As soon as we walked in, she immediately began looking at all the dresses. They were all either too appealing... (coughs) too revealing or too pink like (my way of saying girly), eventually after being there for like what felt like an eternity, she finally picks 10 dresses for herself and 5 for me
°I mean why in the world would you pick 10 dresses for on formal party?!!°
I sigh and shake my head but just shrug my shoulders glad we can finally leave. But she sits in a chair and stares at her phone, seeing this action I tell she was not leaving until I picked something I liked or until the shop closed. And I for one was so not gonna wait to find out at which time they close -I was too hungry for this!
So I unwillingly started strolling through the isles of frilly clothes, but there were some beautiful dresses. I can't lie. There was this one dress that stood out for me, after staring at it for a while and contemplating it. I grabbed it and went back to Natalie at the register.
Pishka: I want this one
I say while smiling at her, she looks at it and nods in approval. It was a midnight blue off-shoulder, floor-length ballgown, done in a Victorian style
°This is the only dress I feel like wearing out of all the dresses in this pink shop°
She quickly pays for the clothes she picked along with my dress and we also bought some heels at a shoe store before heading home. I think she didn't want me to change my mind about it. We arrive and she forces me to fit all the clothes she bought for me some were from that shop we went to and the rest are from when she secretly went shopping while I was at the mall
I know cause I was at the mall for 2 hours and when I opened the boot there were bags with clothes that were my size, I checked. After I finished fitting all the clothes, an hour later, I walk downstairs to the kitchen. I am so famished I think I might faint from lack of nutrients. I saw a packet of chicken nuggets and French fries in the fridge, I take them out and put them in the microwave setting the timer afterwards. Seeing the plastic bags of groceries, I open the cabinet's doors to begin stocking the cabinets, to my surprise they were fully stocked
°I guess aunty or daddy, went shopping while I was at the mall. Good thing I didn't go food shopping for the house°
I think to myself
°Ting!°
The sound from the microwave brought me back to reality. Finding my garlic bread, I take it, along with the food from the microwave with me to the lounge. I sit down and then begin to eat while watching a cartoon on our flat-screen TV. I spent the day watching TV and talking to my friends from back home. Indoors the day cause I was too lazy to go exploring any further than I already have today. For dinner, I decided to eat my leftover pizza from yesterday. I washed the empty plate then I headed to my bedroom to take a nice long bath. After the bath, I dressed up in my pajamas
I switch off the lights, slip into my covers and instantly fall asleep as soon as my head touches the pillow. Falling into a deep, comforting slumber. In my dream I am met with beautiful fantasies, of all kinds of supernatural creatures, especially werewolves - I was probably daydreaming trying to fall asleep like I always do when I want to fall asleep. I have an issue with sleeping so I daydream about whatever until my brain finally shuts itself down
[Author's Note]
To be honest, i find shopping quite exhausting but window shopping is not so bad if it, something I like or into. I think it depends on the things you checking out and not the actual activity that's the problem, unless you are a over-spender then... It's your life
What do you guys think about this chappy and the concept of shopping in general?
