Chapter 11: ELEVEN
It flinched when it saw those bolts that fell with such uncaring wrath, and that moment was all Tian Zheng needed to pull the fallen figure from where it lay. The lightning stopped after the foreign Dao marks had been destroyed and the giant, embarrassed that it had been scared and its arrogant mind afraid to admit it, turned towards the black haired being and let out a roar of rage. Unlike the other one, this didn't have that great effect of sounding like thunder, it was just a pure beastly roar to communicate the only emotion the beast had right now. Rage. The ancient wind vibrated as it carried the sound and when it reached Tian Zheng, it had already grown some decibels quite but it still made the lose robes he wore flutter in the wind.
His body had somewhat shielded Yi Chen but the sound that reached him irritated his ears even more, causing moans of pain to escape his incapacitated body. Tian Zheng looked at the fallen figure, with a giant lightning cloud running towards him and the only thing in his mind was of how useless the ginger had been this whole journey. 'What rank is he even at? He seems to weak and incompetent.'
He shut off those useless thoughts and focused on the running giant. It had gotten closer and it had at some point conjured a bolt of lightning that was held in its hand. He breathed out and felt the tense muscles in his body relax and his mind cleared of all useless thoughts. His mind reached for the Heaven`s Vision gu, causing his sight to become layered with some twinkling lights. With another tug the False Seal gu activated sealing the movement of the giant`s arms. This caused it to freeze for a moment and in that moment another gu worm had been activated which caused a few fire balls to fly towards it. While he didn't have enough primeval essence to continuously seal the giant in the same position, it was enough. When it was unsealed, the movement it had already committed to was completed which caused the large lightning bolt to clash with the wave of golden fire balls. A hot wind escaped the nucleus of the clash, that caused some irritation on Tian Zheng`s skin which he didn't pay any mind to.
In his position, his body started to be filled with arcs of lightning, before they focused on his feet. Without any sound, his body was forced forward by the unsealed lightning feet gu. This forced him to be in a collision course to the giant who saw this and placed a punch before him. If it was as it had expected, Tian Zheng would have crushed on its body, being swallowed inside where liquid lightning would have killed him in an agonizing second. However, Tian Zheng escaped the rules of gravity for a moment as all the momentum caused by the lightning feet gu was sealed when the gu was sealed. While he was in the air, before the being he activated the fire wave gu in tandem with the fire funnel gu causing a large torrent of flames to appear from his arm and shoot towards the outstretched arm while his body shot backwards due to the force that the fire had produced. As his body was close to the ground, a black shield was layered by another and cocooned his body as it hit the ground. The shields broke when they shielded him from the impact and left Dao marks on his body that were swallowed a second later.
He looked upwards to the giant and saw as it looked at its hand. While it had survived, some fingers were missing while the arm was a lot thinner than its counterpart. This caused a smile to appear on his face. He saw as the fury on its face, when it had realized what exactly had happened grew in great magnitudes. It looked at Tian Zheng, not even roaring as it had done. It had turned silent, but a glowing maw had formed on its blank face. It seemed surprised, as alien as that emotion was to it. The mouth that had formed let out hot air from somewhere inside its body and with it, a gu worm appeared. It looked like a hairless spider with each of its seven eyes glowing as equal and even greater than- in the case of the seventh eye, which was in between the two rows of three, as the eyes of the beast. The gu worm floated near the eyes of the beasts and froze there. As if the two were communicating.
When the two were communicating, Tian Zheng was trying to activate a killer move and failing. He could feel his soul hurting as the bruise grew larger and soon it would develop into a wound. He had his focus on his aperture as three gu worms were refusing to connect with each other. The fire man gu, the lightning feet gu and the fire wave gu. The addition of the lightning feet gu caused the balance he had formed hastily to break. "Combine- "The sound escaped his mind as frustration and pain pilled his mind. He looked back at the two creatures, the giant and its gu and saw they had stopped communicating and had started to fuse together. He turned back to his aperture, his soul raw from the failures. Looking at the gu he had he noticed the versatile, False Seal gu. It floated above his primeval essence. He reached for it and started to combine the move again, he also added the fire funnel gu in the mixture. While its addition was rejected by the fire wave gu and fire man gu they seemed to have forgotten about it when he tried to connect the lightning feet gu. They seemed to attack it and push it away and the lightning feet gu also pushed back. When he saw the combination was about to fail he connected the False Seal gu to the mixture.
He was expecting the gu to impose a false balance but the reaction of the three battling gu was unexpected. The False Seal gu was ignored by the gu worms. Like it hadn't even connected. While he had connected it he saw as it remained dormant. Unlike the fire funnel gu which while it didn`t fight, it at least moved from where it was to where the other gu worms were at. The False Seal turned to where they were battling and tuned away.
It didn`t listen to him even when he had refined it. This caused him give up on the killer move as he turned his gaze to the cloud giant. It had completely fused with the spider gu and its eyes had increased to nine. With one giant, white eye in the middle of the others. What brought fear in Tian Zheng`s heart was something in the eyes. It was faint but with its inclusion in the equation of this fight, his chances of winning had dwindled. He saw the light of intelligence. The giant had paused as it got used to its new intelligence.
Tian Zheng started panicking. He had only gotten one hit in and the creature had grown intelligent. It wasn't a beast anymore but a being capable of thought. It could now plan and while he didn't know how high its new found intelligence was, he didn't want to take any chances. When it was integrating to its new intelligence, he reached for his aperture. His soul had a small tear on it that caused him great pain from just existing but he had to try once more. This was the only way he knew that he could survive what was to come. He knew he wasn't experience with battle enough to fight an intelligent beast that had outclassed him when it was without thought. Now that it had thought, he knew his death was just a matter of time. What he needed was fire power, greater than any he had. What he wanted was to recreate his Flames of Rebirth but this time add the effect of the foreign Dao marks on it. This would cause any who were healed to be left with one of the Dao marks. Heaven wouldn't let that stand and would smite them down. He even thought of creating a powerful Dao mark using the fire funnel gu, but it seemed they couldn't combine. Just as the two main wills that had been fighting.
