NON-CHAPTER - An Important Announcement; or, Author Authority
Hey, creeps and creatures. I'll be brief, so you can spend your Saturday evening/Sunday morning doing more than just reading my announcement.
I love Heartthrob. I have loved Heartthrob from the say I began writing it, because ny love for it is the reason it was written at all. Heartthrob is my very first written work, and I've learned a lot across… four or so years, of writing it. But, what does that mean, for the story's quality?
It means that there exist basic fundamentals I had not yet grappled with, and skills I had yet to develop, when first I began - and over the years, while I have improved greatly, there are still things that could be improved upon. Namely, the story itself.
So. Where am I going with this? Much of Heartthrob has been 'discovery writing', and performed day-of-posting, because I am a procrastinator in the extreme even about the dearest product of my heart. I know where I want the story to go, sure, but in the sense of knowing important milestones, and finding the path there along the way. But, that's bad for the story, and it's bad for the work itself, and maybe it's bad for you, too; the readership, that is.
The narrative has been taken without authorization; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident.
And so, we arrive at my simple announcement. Heartthrob is going on a short hiatus, while I clean up the first Volume, ponder the second (its fairly meandering, though I don't know if that's an outright sin), and chart out the course of the third. I need a bit of a 'mental regrouping', you know? To keep chapters more story-focused, and content-rich.
Heartthrob recently, given my less-than-ideal headspace, has been on something of a 'post chapters because chapters need posting' strategy, which is awful for the quality of the story and the entire experience. I need to turn that around, and spruce up the story at large so that it's the best it can be. So.
Tl;dr? Most of Heartthrob has been discovery writing, and I need to instead take a more proactive approach to the story's plot progression and direction to ensure it reads well and doesn't meander or feel tedious. As such, I am going on hiatus, so that I don't post any chapters out of obligation that aren't in-line with what I want for Heartthrob at the end of the day.
I will say tentatively that this hiatus will go until about this time next month. That is, ideally, November 8'th, give or take a Saturday.
And, at the end of the day? I love you, and I love that you've read my silly little story so very far, and I love that you make my dreams seem a little more accessible. So, I want to give you my best, and I look forward to doing so.
Thank you for your understanding. Love, Marcie.
