HEARTS OF DIVINE RUIN (The MoonGoddess and The AlphaKing)

Chapter 53: Chapter 51: Her Allies

As the heavy footsteps of Alex faded into the distance, Luna settled down on the cold, hard floor of the cell.
A strange silence enveloped her, one that replaced her earlier shouts with an eerie calm.
She stopped screaming and just sat there, her heart pounding, not a word escaping her lips. Charlie stood at a distance, observing her with a mix of concern and wariness.
A smile crept onto Luna's face, but it was unsettling, almost sinister. It was a smile that held a deep sadness, and Charlie found himself unnerved by it.
The goddess was broken, and it showed in that twisted expression. A chuckle escaped her, light yet haunting, echoing in the empty space around them.
"Is she losing her mind?" Charlie wondered, apprehension creeping up his spine. He hesitated, still unsure of what to make of her current state.
"What's wrong?" he finally asked, his voice low and hesitant.
For a moment, Luna was silent, her expression unreadable as she focused on something beyond him. After several minutes passed, she turned her gaze to Charlie. Her eyes pierced through him, and he felt a chill run down his back. There was something in her stare that made him feel small, insignificant, as though the very essence of her being dwarfed him.
"Your Alpha King is dumb," she declared, a hint of sadness lacing her voice, breaking the tension that had built between them.
Charlie growled instinctively, anger flaring at her disrespect. "Watch your words," he warned, his body tense, but Luna merely smiled.
"Open it," she commanded, her tone light, but the underlying threat sent a shiver through Charlie. "If I have to do it myself, you will regret it."

Confused by her meaning, he sighed and turned away, shaking his head. But just as he looked away, a hissing sound broke through the air, followed by a thunderous bang as the cell door flew open. Shocked, he turned back to see a massive serpent slithering toward him—a formidable sight that sent his instincts into overdrive.
Astaroth, the high-ranking demon from Hell, coiled before him. His scales glimmered with an otherworldly sheen, hues of dark green and gold intertwining like a tapestry of night. His eyes were a deep, glowing red, reflecting a cunning intelligence and a hint of mischief, and his fangs glistened menacingly as he hissed, revealing sharp, white teeth.
Charlie's heart raced as he prepared to fight, instinctively moving into a defensive stance. But before he could attack, Luna stepped in front of him, her expression calm yet commanding.
"Don't, please," she urged, her voice steady. "He is innocent."
Astaroth turned his attention from Charlie to Luna, his eyes narrowing in irritation. "You dare to order me?" he hissed, his tone dripping with contempt. He approached her, fangs bared, a storm brewing in his gaze. Luna remained unflinching, even as the demon hissed menacingly at her. He was dark and sinister , even charlie fazed by his presence .
"Come to hell goddess, goddess," he warned, his tone shifting from threatening to curious as he appraised her. "I'll make you regret everything—starting with that relentless attitude , even the strongest breaks there ."
A smirk crept across his face, charmed by her defiance. The demon had come to retrieve the escaped prisoner for Lucifer, but there was something captivating about Luna - He could see the dark yet hidden death aura on her .
"You are not my treat," he finally sighed, shifting his gaze as he crawled back toward the knife that Lucifer had given her . The knife was like a secret passage to hell but only Astaroth can pass through it .
While Astaroth held significant power and was often seen as a prince of Hell, he was ultimately subordinate to Lucifer - The real lord of hell . Known for his associations with knowledge, deceit, and manipulation, he reveled in the chaos but respected those who dared to stand against him.
As he turned away, the atmosphere shifted again. Charlie stared at Luna, his heart pounding. She had just faced a powerful demon and stood unafraid in the mortal shell . What other surprises did this goddess hold?
Luna turned away from Astaroth and the remnants of the chaos, her heart racing with the urgency of the situation. She knew she needed to act fast. As she tried to walk away, Charlie stepped into her path, blocking her exit.
"Luna, don't," he urged, concern etched on his face.
She simply smiled at him, a sad but determined expression. "If I don't leave now, everyone you love and care about will die in the next 48 hours."
"Alex will handle that," Charlie replied confidently, but Luna shook her head, her expression turning serious.
"If he could , I wouldn't have been here " she mumbled to herself and then her determined gaze met Charlie's . "Quintus isn't an easy target," she warned, her voice steady. "Yes, Alex is powerful and an Alpha King, but Quintus escaped Hell. No normal living being can do that. If it comes down to a match between them, it's difficult to say who will win. And in the process, everyone you care about will be dead."
Charlie's eyes widened in horror at her words. "Alex is more powerful than you can imagine , Trust him." he whispered.
"I am a goddess, Charlie," she said, her voice rising slightly, a weight of authority and truth behind her words. "If I have to descend to fight someone like Quintus, then no matter what strategy you and your Alpha come up with, you can't avoid the consequences."
Charlie remembered the first time he looked at her - the fragile human he had seen in Alex's arms, but right now even as a human - she was a formidable being, one that commanded respect and fear. He stepped back, processing the weight of her revelation.
"Wise choice," Luna said, a hint of satisfaction in her voice as she turned to walk away. But she glanced back to see Charlie following her, his brow furrowed in determination.
"You'll need help escaping the pack's watchful eyes," he said, trying to reason with her.
She rolled her eyes, waving him off. "I don't need help from you, Charlie."
"Yeah, but it would be nice to have a beta around to make sure you don't get caught by the pack people," he insisted, trailing closely behind her.
Luna smirked, shaking her head. "Oh, look at you, being all 'alpha' and 'beta.' Isn't that cute?"
Charlie chuckled, following her nonetheless. "Just trying to keep the goddess safe from her own reckless decisions!"
"But I am not a goddess anymore " her voice with a hint of bitterness but in a second it was changed as she turns mocking him ."Right, because a beta is the best at preventing fallen goddesses from doing whatever she wants," she teased, her tone lightening.
"Hey, I'll take what I can get!" Charlie shot back, grinning. "At least I can say I followed a goddess on a mission. Sounds heroic enough."
Luna laughed softly, appreciating his humor even amidst the gravity of their situation. "Just remember, Charlie, if Alex finds out I'm escaping, you'll be the one blamed for letting me go. So don't get too comfortable with this 'heroic' title!"
With a playful roll of her eyes, Luna led the way .
