Heart Devil [OP Yandere Schizo Ramble LitRPG XD]

Chapter 48: Tactical Retreat

Further away from the battle happening with the hero reinforcements, deeper within the now ruined district, a pink blur travelled at high speeds.

"Kikikiki! So long, suckers!" The little blur laughed while she took long strides, her hands swinging high as she rapidly gained distance from the monstrous paladin planning to capture her.

Hannya was thankful her hubby had texted her when he did; her mind had regained focus on her objective. Now that she had locked down her contract, she had to blow this cabbage stand.

Her brain had once again gotten into such a muddled state, one that made her feel like her actions made sense, but looking at it objectively, causing problems right now was a bad idea.

She was surrounded by enemies currently with no backup, and her strength was far from ideal to do as she pleased; the cherub showing up was proof of that.

A shame she couldn't get Abigail's signature. With her love of the protagonist still in the early stages rather than the pitifully obsessive state she would be in two years from now, gaining her as a slav- ally would have knocked a worry from her list.

At the current state the woman was in, she was more useful alive than dead. And with her servitude, she would not go after the heart had Hannya commanded her not to.

Alas, she wasted too much time in this realm.

Admittedly, the wizard was right; the longer she stayed there, the higher her chances were of losing precious star-

Hannya's mind froze.

She came to a screeching halt, her eyes wide as she came to a late realization.

She clutched her head and groaned.

'I-I used a wish!' And on some weak nobody, no less!

Corrine was essential to her plans for Neel, but wasting a wish on reviving some butler? The guy had like two sentences in the story. She didn't even know the bastard was a demon until now!

On top of that, wishes weren't the only way to revive a dead person. As long as they weren't killed by a system user, snatching back their soul was easy for a devil like her!

That little bitch Damien was just a hero in training right now, so she was essentially burning stars!

"What am I doing!?" The words of Baku struck her once again.

She clenched her fist; it seems that his words weren't completely meaningless. She was starting to feel more and more like one of those BPD guys.

She needed to focus, no more drifting thoughts, no more whimsical decisions, just a singular goal.

Get back to her summon circle and back to Hellnia.

She took off once more, chanting her mantra of return. She needed to train and rescue her beloved!

Arden raised his hands to the sky, the grand sigil glowing and surrounding him in a spherical shape.

He spoke softly. "Holy magic: [Heaven's Gate]"

The sigil shattered, the pieces breaking away and floating to the sky above them.

Damien, watching all the happenings next to Arden, snapped out of his chaotically dazed mind and looked to the sky.

Previously, he had watched how his master had almost fallen for the temptation of the monster, how the elf had disappeared without a trace within the black substance, and how Arden had been tricked by the monster and gotten away.

His view of heroes had shattered. His faith in humanity's last line of defense slowly crumbling. All three of these people were powerful, without a doubt; they all should have had the strength to kill the creature or at least wound it.

But each one failed in eliminating it. It even laughed at them. He gleaned a subtle truth from these encounters. Though he did not see the elf's encounter, he guessed it was no different.

A truth the heroes before him failed to notice, one leading to their failures.

They allowed the devil to speak.

A truth drilled into him day in and day out from the church he and his childhood friend once lived. Since gods changed from time to time, subjects like that were typically glossed over, giving the general overview and purpose.

The focus was mainly on the history of war between the other races and threats to the human territories thwarted by renowned heroes.

Most of these stories revolved around one major adversary.

The demons and the devils that led them.

The truth was simple. Don't let devils talk to you. Their cunning tongues and manipulative actions always led to the downfall of heroes in those stories.

And just as the old stories told, the heroes before him now had easily fallen for the ploys of a monster.

'The heroes have forgotten the words of the church.' Damien thought as his fists tightened. He gazed up at the sky beginning to shine with a golden light.

The scene was impressive, but he could not find it in himself to feel at ease. With the way Sir Arden was going, he too would fall for the tricks of the devil one day. That much he was sure of.

The young hero, in a matter of minutes, figured out the true hidden weakness of the veteran heroes across the current plane of Neel. Though his mind could think at ease under the wing of the hero beside him, he trusted his judgment of Arden's lacking resolve to protect Neel at all costs.

If you discover this tale on Amazon, be aware that it has been stolen. Please report the violation.

Truly a wise and critically thinking teenager. Far from a fool that assumed full understanding of the world.

'Change is needed within the heroes.' He would not lose faith in the teachings, not like Arden…or his master.

Unbeknownst to the half-angel, his failure to swiftly execute the pink devil when he had the chance accelerated the young warrior's resolve to enact his 'justice' on the enemies of humanity.

His advising words now lost completely.

The sky above the two lit up, shimmering with a golden glow.

The light spread across the dark expanse, stretching over the misty dome, shining down on the obscuring mass like a spotlight.

WOOM

From within the near-blinding light, a sound reverberated throughout the area. Causing the destroyed district to rumble slightly.

Smaller concentrated lights began to pierce down into the mist, scanning the ground below. As they did so, the mist began to scatter and dissolve, slowly breaking down and destroying its chaotic laws.

A singular beam of light shone on the corrupted forest within, locking on to the baleful bog infesting it.

The light shining down on the swamp blinked, causing the rest to converge. The other lights meticulously scanning the area all shifted and began to point to the sludge-filled area, fusing into a large singular beacon, illuminating the space.

High above, as if receiving the signal, the golden expanse separated, giving way to a white light within.

The clinking sound of alloy could be heard within before a large chain, scratching and twisting with metallic noises, shot out rapidly from the sky.

It descended on the black bog, slamming into its murky depths and anchoring itself within its center.

The cherub pointed to the bog, now connected to the chain descended from the heavens.

"Contain." He said, his blue eyes glowing calmly.

At his words, seven gigantic white stakes shot down from the holy gate, streaks of sparkling white light trailing behind them as they traveled at momentous speed.

THUNK

THUNK

THUNK

They landed harshly into the ground, evenly spread around the now writhing black substance. A thin, transparent wall of white mana connected the large stakes, surrounding the bubbling and squirming liquid.

The bog began to spread thin, traveling slowly up the chain now at its center and slamming into the barrier surrounding it, attempting to consume all the holy magic around.

Alas, unlike the forest it feasted on, the containment field it now encountered was far too potent for the black parasite to stomach.

Arden spoke again. "Purify."

At the command, the holy chain lodged in the chaos lit up. White flames burst from the depths of the baleful bog, evaporating it swiftly and cleansing the air around it. The bog flailed and twisted, its tentacles smashing the ground and barriers in a frenzy.

But the shield surrounding it held strong, the integrity of the stakes unmoved, and the thin layer of mana surrounding it barely making a ripple.

Soon the black forest and chaotic swamp vanished without a trace, leaving only a half-eaten, sizzling body behind.

Arden inspected the person below. The elf. Her fancy dress in tatters, an arm missing, and her lower body completely gone. She looked to be in a terrible state. The only indicator of her being more than a corpse was a light green layer of mana flickering lowly around what was left of her body.

'Still alive…'

He waved his hand. "[Greater Heal]." While the chain retracted back to the heavens and the stakes scattered back into mana, dark blue energy fell on the unconscious druid, regrowing her limbs and healing her wounds.

As the elf stabilized, the mist in the surroundings began to thin even more, the light from the gate above eating away at the fog as time progressed.

Arden scanned the destroyed district, now more viewable from the sky. Though the mist closer to the ground was still present, it was decreasing rapidly.

His roaming eyes soon detected a shift in the fog a fair distance from his location. The peaceful cherub smiled. "There you are." He raised his hand once again and pointed.

The lights coming from the sky began to converge; he would not lose her again. He was confident in that.

Why?

"Devils can't resist the temptation of the order law."

~~~
Hannya dashed through the dilapidated buildings and ruined roads, annoyed that her battle with the magic hero had taken her so far away from her summoning circle.
She wanted to curse; she hadn't noticed this detail either. The more she ran, the more she felt pissed about how a simple devil deal had spiraled to such a point.
And now that her mist clones were gone, that bastard would search for her position with swift action. On top of that, she noticed her smoke screen was rapidly decreasing, and the control she had on her mist was loosening.
She focused her fissure's mist on the ground, hoping to gain a bit more time to get to her circle before being discovered.
As she ran, her sharp eyes noticed a small red glow in the distance, like an exit sign within the cloudy depths. Her circle.
"Finally! Kikiki, damn that was close!"
But it seemed she spoke too soon, as a concentrated golden light shone on her the next second.
BADUMP
Her feet halted as her heartbeat boomed in her ears. She felt a strange aggression build up within her.
Sssssss
A light sizzle on her skin could be heard, but the young devil was unbothered by the slight pain; compared to what she's already experienced, this much was nothing. The concentration was far too low.
But the issue stemmed from the annoyance she felt from the bright light. To her, it felt pushy and intrusive on her devil body.
She wanted to turn it off, to destroy it.
'Destroy the source!' Her mind thought. Hannya turned around and looked to the sky. The mist around her was fading, and the golden glow above was beginning to come into view.
"Arden!" She growled, anger rising within her. This must be that bastard's doing. He dares flash her?
'Kill him!' Her thoughts spoke again. Yes, by killing him, this annoying light would disappear, and she could return back to Hellnia worry-free.
Her foot stepped forward. But her clouded mind jolted awake, the mantra she had been saying all this time flashing in her memory.
'H-huh? What was I doing!?' Hannya was shocked. Why was she thinking of rushing a monster like Arden? She was a small fry right now!
She turned back around, ready to exit this battlefield. She knew her limits, roughly. Attacking that guy was hopeless right now.
'A supreme has no equal; his death is inevitable.' On the other hand, she was a six-star devil. She had plenty of wishes left to play to her advantage! Arden was only a mortal; what good is his strength if it only takes him one mistake to die by her hands?
She whirled around once more, ready to dash to the source of this aggravating spell. Her red eyes spun as she got in a sprinter's stance; grinning wildly at the thought of crushing this cherub.
So what if he was one of the current top heroes? What's a hero to a devil?
'Shit the mission! Remember the mission.' Her takeoff was stalled as she tumbled to the ground, her mind clashing with decisions. That was right; her mission was to get back to Hellnia, train for evolution, and rescue her beloved.
Why was she formulating ideas around her wishes to kill Arden? She had already wasted one here! Vainglory would see her as a loose woman if she lost any more! Where would her face be!?
She scrambled up, her skin still sizzling, and began to rush to the exit. No more thinking, only running. She couldn't trust her reasoning, so she decided to just follow her originally established orders.
Get to the summoning circle. Her past life's training coming in handy. No thinking, just doing; follow orders.
But as she drew closer to the circle, a peculiar event happened.
'Coward!' Her mind saw a 'vision' once again, the same as the time before on Baku's mountain.
The world around her froze, and a golden being stood in her path. The face of the being couldn't be seen, but the tall posture of the individual showed he was quite angry.
The golden devil pointed to the sky, not bothering with pleasantries, and spoke. "Kill him!"
Hannya stared wide-eyed at the individual before her. Surprised by the visit. What were the chances!
"H-honey!?"
