Chapter 338. Weak.
Kailen stared at Bianca, who had tears falling from the sides of her cheeks.
Her demeanor was calm, but the tears betrayed her.
Remembering this occurrence every day put her in so much pain.
Not only her— even Cyco and Nuel felt the same way.
This was because they were too powerless at the time, then and now, to do anything about what happened, or seek revenge for Saul, Selena, and Kailen's grandfather, even though they knew the cause of the incident.
This was because the Crown Prince was just too powerful.
And just like Bianca had said, they'd only die a meaningless death in the end, unable to prove anything or do anything about the situation.
"After that, the crown prince left Cyrus and his pitiful son to themselves."
Before she could continue, Kailen asked,
"Didn't you take any pictures or videos of their meeting?"
Bianca sighed.
"That was the mistake we made. We were so shocked about what we found out at the time that it didn't occur to us at the time to take any videos or pictures.
Besides, even if we had done that, I don't think it would have made any difference. The universe is a place where you need to have the strength to back your decision."
Kailen remained in thought for a moment.
Turns out everything he deduced was spot on.
The co-conspirator was a Vimodial contractor, just like he thought.
The person also had a deep-seated grudge against his father, just like he presumed.
He had also confirmed clearly from Bianca's words that the Crown Prince was the one to instigate the massacre of the Sword Tribunal Sect—because of this deep-seated hatred for his father.
He had heard some rumors recently about how his father humiliated the Crown Prince during their time in the academy.
Bianca also went on to say that the rumors were no lies.
The incident actually occurred after Saul killed the Crown Prince's nephew due to an altercation.
In an attempt to defend the honor of the royal family and seek revenge, the Crown Prince challenged Saul to a life-and-death battle.
Saul one-sidedly beat the Crown Prince, who at the time was a rank 3 supreme stage ascendant-level lifeform.
However, instead of killing the Crown Prince, Saul probably weighed the pros and cons of such an act, then decided that it would bring more headache to him in the near future.
This had influenced his decision to spare the Crown Prince.
Kailen sighed inwardly on hearing this.
"This was my father's mistake. This is why enemies should not be spared, no matter the reason."
Bianca, Cyco, and Nuel agreed with Kailen's reasoning.
They let out complicated sighs, then Bianca went on to explain that after the Crown Prince threatened Cyrus with the death of his son and the destruction of the clan, he left.
As for Cyrus, he began an obsessive search for Saul and Selena.
This went on for several years, decades, and more, until they had seemingly exhausted the search across all the planets Saul and Selena could have dwelt on.
For some reason, the Crown Prince didn't pursue Cyrus on his failure to find them—probably because he also came to accept that Saul and his wife had died somewhere in the universe.
Saul and his wife were then declared officially dead, after which the Sword Tribunal Sect decided to have a memorial for Kailen's father.
That was when the massacre of the Sword Tribunal Sect happened.
After Bianca finished speaking, Kailen remained quiet and in thought.
The trio gave him all the time he needed to sort out his thoughts.
They sat there, waiting patiently for him.
He thought he'd have to kill Cyrus one day and absorb his memories before he found out about any of this, but he had found out about this way earlier than he thought.
This was a good thing.
Now he'd have a clear goal.
Kailen would have to become strong—so ridiculously strong—before he could pursue revenge against the Crown Prince.
As for Cyrus, Kailen had changed his plans.
Initially, he had thought of open destruction and annihilation.
Now, he figured it was a waste of time.
That would require him to become extremely strong, because he wouldn't only be fighting against Cyrus, but the Darkhaven clan, and he'd be openly challenging the Crown Prince, which wouldn't be a good thing.
The best thing was to do it in a subtle manner without leaving any clues.
He would be able to get rid of Cyrus when he became a rank two alchemist after breaking through to the rank 2 beginner stage ascendant level.
He'd also make use of that opportunity to get rid of Francisca Harker.
Kailen wanted to get rid of these two enemies early and focus on building his strength to go against the Crown Prince—which technically meant he'd be going against the royal family one day.
One didn't just need strength to do this. One needed allies and backing.
The roots of the royal family were too deep.
He needed allies on his side for that to work.
And he needed to also become overwhelmingly powerful personally.
He also needed to groom the members of the Sword Tribunal Society into a formidable force.
His shadow creatures would also come in extremely handy when the time came for him to handle these responsibilities.
Kailen also knew he had to tell Arrie and the others about this development so that they'd also focuson building forces for when the time came for revenge—Kailen was aware that they had broken through to the ascendant level because of his personal observation through the eyes of the shadow creatures guarding them in secret.
Kailen sighed deeply.
He felt extremely weak—so fucking weak!
The Crown Prince was a rank 4 supreme stage galactic-level lifeform and could crush him, or any of his father's friends, or even any ally he'd seek support from, like a bug.
Not forgetting that all the forces of the late king of the empire were now at the beck and call of the Crown Prince.
That's right.
The king and the then crown prince—the elder brother of the current Crown Prince—had died mysteriously on an expedition due to an "accident" caused by Vimodial contractors.
Obviously, Kailen could now connect the dots.
The Crown Prince was behind the murder of the king—his father—and his brother.
"He's a two-faced scheming bastard who likes to manipulate events from behind the scenes," Kailen sighed and finally spoke.
Cyco sighed and nodded.
"He's dangerous. And he has the love of the citizens of the empire. That's the worst part of the situation. He masks his vile nature with good deeds. So even if we had proof of what he did, no one will believe it. The citizens will even debunk the claims without him having to even step up for himself. At this point, schemes won't matter. The only way to bring him down is to become overwhelmingly powerful yourself."
