Just one glance was enough to make Huang Xingcheng's entire body tremble. He saw Lin Xiao. Yes, it was definitely Lin Xiao.

I must be seeing things, Huang Xingcheng thought. Isn't Lin Xiao supposed to be in Jinling City? How could he be in Shengjing? And he's the one who beat up my brother? He couldn't believe it.

If Lin Xiao was really the one who beat up his brother, then this situation had just become incredibly difficult. Others might not have known Lin Xiao's background, but Huang Xingcheng knew it all too well. This was the man who could get his grandfather kicked out of the Immortal Doctor Sect with a single word. He didn't even show any respect to the King of the Northern Town.

Compared to such a heaven-defying figure, I'm less than nothing!

"Brother, that's the piece of trash who hit me! You have to teach him a brutal lesson for me!" Huang Xingdong shouted arrogantly.

Huang Xingcheng ignored him and strode quickly towards Lin Xiao.

A smirk spread across Huang Xingdong's face. He knew that stinking beggar was about to suffer. Cheng Shaoshang also sneered. His mood had been foul ever since he first saw Lin Xiao that afternoon. He had only feigned a friendly demeanor because Chu Xiangxue was there. Now that the stinking beggar was about to get his due, Cheng Shaoshang couldn't be more delighted.

Soon, Huang Xingcheng was standing before Lin Xiao. Chu Xiangxue grew anxious and was about to speak, but Huang Xingcheng beat her to it, asking with utmost respect, "Master, when did you arrive in Shengjing? Why didn't you let me know? I would have loved to show you some proper hospitality!"

Huang Xingcheng had once sworn to be Lin Xiao's dog, and ever since then, he had addressed him as "Master."

The title stunned everyone present.

Cheng Shaoshang and Huang Xingdong were completely dumbfounded. What is happening? Huang Xingcheng actually knows this stinking beggar? And judging by his tone and how he's addressing him, this beggar must be someone important. Otherwise, Huang Xingcheng would never be this respectful!

Chu Xiangxue was also taken aback. She knew Lin Xiao and Huang Xingcheng had met in Jinling City, but Huang Xingcheng had been incredibly arrogant back then. When did he become so deferential toward Lin Xiao, to the point of calling him "Master"?

Lin Xiao looked at Huang Xingcheng with a smirk. "I was afraid you were going to beat me up!"

The taunt was so obvious that even a fool could hear it, and Huang Xingcheng was certainly no fool. He just smiled awkwardly.

"Master, please don't mock me. I wouldn't dare, not even if you gave me a hundred times the courage!"

While speaking, Huang Xingcheng turned to face his bewildered brother. "What are you standing there stunned for?" he bellowed. "Get over here, kneel, and apologize!"

What? Kneel and apologize? Huang Xingdong was completely dumbstruck. But it was a command from his older brother, and Huang Xingdong dared not disobey. In their entire family, the person he feared most was his brother.

Trembling, he walked over to Lin Xiao and said stiffly, "Sorry."

His brother had ordered him to apologize, and he didn't dare refuse. That didn't mean he was actually sorry. The words had barely left his mouth when Huang Xingcheng slapped him hard across the face.

"Damn it! Put some sincerity into it!"

The slap left Huang Xingdong reeling, and he didn't dare test his brother's patience again. He quickly said in a panic, "S-sorry! I'm sorry! It was my fault! I shouldn't have cursed at you!"

Huang Xingcheng's rage flared. "What? You still dared to curse at him? Damn you! Go home and face the wall to reflect on what you've done! I'll deal with you when I get back!"

Looking utterly wronged but not daring to say another word, Huang Xingdong gave Lin Xiao a deep bow before turning to leave.

Lin Xiao didn't make things difficult for him. After all, the boy had apologized. It didn't matter if it was forced or not; an apology had been made. Besides, he wasn't the real problem here. Cheng Shaoshang was. Dealing with that piece of trash was the main event.

"Master, please don't be angry. Let me treat you to a few drinks tonight!"

Lin Xiao smiled. "No rush."

"Master... d-do you have any other instructions?" Huang Xingcheng asked cautiously. To be honest, he was terrified that Lin Xiao would continue to pursue the matter with his brother. If that happened, it would be a disaster.

Lin Xiao saw right through him and smiled. "Don't worry. I don't have some deep-seated grudge against your brother; I won't keep dragging it out. But, Huang Xingcheng, aren't you the least bit curious? Your brother and I are complete strangers, so why would he suddenly start being so sarcastic toward me?"

At these words, a tremor shot through Cheng Shaoshang's heart. This damn beggar is trying to shift the blame to me!

Huang Xingcheng was incredibly shrewd and understood Lin Xiao's implication instantly. His sharp gaze fell upon Cheng Shaoshang. He looked at him because he knew this whole group of dandies followed Cheng Shaoshang's lead.

Huang Xingcheng then strode over and stopped directly in front of Cheng Shaoshang.

Cheng Shaoshang gave a forced laugh. "Huang Xingcheng, don't listen to that beggar's nonsense. I had nothing to do with this!"

Huang Xingcheng sneered. "First, you shouldn't call Lin Xiao a beggar. Second, you shouldn't have provoked my brother. Apologize."

Cheng Shaoshang refused. I'm the leader of this group of dandies! If I apologize to that stinking beggar, how can I ever show my face around them again?

"Huang Xingcheng, I'm not Huang Xingdong! On what grounds are you telling me to apologize?" Cheng Shaoshang retorted indignantly.

Huang Xingcheng sneered again. "On the grounds that you provoked my brother and insulted Lin Xiao. Be smart and apologize now. Otherwise, don't blame me for what happens next."

"Damn it, Huang Xingcheng! I know you're tough, but I, Cheng Shaoshang, am no pushover! Don't forget, I work for Guo Dingtian. If you fucking dare to bully me, I'll call him right now! He's in Shengjing for the next few days. Then we'll see who's the one who can't back down!" Cheng Shaoshang declared brazenly.

Huang Xingcheng's expression faltered. He had forgotten about that connection. While his own family background was impressive, it was clearly a step below Guo Dingtian's. Guo Dingtian was a ranked expert on the Dragon Emperor's List and a student of the Dragon Lord. In front of the Dragon Lord, his own background was less than a fart.

For a moment, Huang Xingcheng was caught in a dilemma. He couldn't just let Cheng Shaoshang go, not when he had to answer to Lin Xiao. But if he pressed the issue and Cheng Shaoshang really called Guo Dingtian, the situation could spiral out of control.

Cheng Shaoshang was taken aback. "You stinking beggar, what the fuck did you just say?"

"What, are your ears failing you now? I thought you were just weak in the kidneys, not deaf."

The rage in Cheng Shaoshang's heart instantly exploded.

"Damn you, you stinking beggar! Fine, let's fight! I can't wait to see you on your fucking knees, begging me for mercy!"

Just as the words left his mouth, a calm, indifferent voice reached everyone's ears.

"There's no need to make that call."
