Chapter 191: Goddess + Otherworld
For a long moment, no one said anything.
The students floated, or rather, existed in the white void, still clutching their stomachs, some wiping vomit from their mouths. The silence felt unnatural, broken only by ragged breathing and the occasional groan.
Then one of the students speak up, no longer able to keep it sane anymore
"Wait, wait, WAIT! D-D-Did she just say Demon Goddess!?"
The students turn to the source of the voice, and saw it was Bryan, one of the schools best jocks.
With too much confidence mix with obvious confusion, and not enough brain cells, he scrambled back on all fours like a startled crab. He looked like he was trying to crawl away… from nowhere.
"Y-You've gotta be kidding us right! This is a prank, right?! Some AR thing?!"
Another student called out, Tiffandra, the second-string cheerleader. Her voice cracked like a broken record.
"Nnngh… no signal."
A large breasted Gyrus said out aloud, fiddling with her cracked phone.
"Not even on the emergency encrypted line. Either this isn't Earth, or we've been cut off from everything."
"Of course we're not on Earth Shizuka."
Mumbled Eliot, he wore a black and simple but comfortable crocks, his hand in his pockets as he comments
"Do you not see the giant white space around us?"
Kayla stared ahead.
Still nauseous.
As she lay there on the cold ground, her thoughts began to stir.
'Could my wish have caused this…? No—no, let's not get ahead of ourselves.'
She mused to herself, then began to focus on a more pressing matter.
"More importantly… where the hell are we, some other dimension or something?"
She said mostly to herself, then a familiar voice answered from nearby, or rather beside her.
"Yeah, no matter how you look at it, this definitely isn't Earth."
Kayla looked at the clear skin girl.
'Rorine Suga... Of the Esteem Suga family... Ahh this is probably the first time we have talk, then and again I rather just keep to myself.'
Kayla said to herself, as she looked at the beautiful petite girl sitting a few feet away from her, and compare to her, and the rest she seems to be one of the few that didn't throw up her last meal. She had long twin drills, her hair golden, her yes however where a sharp red with an odd, serpentine slit in each iris.
Being as antisocial as she was she struggled to start a conversation.
But the girl just looked at her, and said.
"Hmm, your awfully quiet... Even in a situation like this, if you continue like that your going to be a lonely camper forever you know."
Rorine said with smile, as she then extend her hand out and said.
"Your Kayla right? We sit next to each other in class, but your so quiet it hard to approach you normally."
Rorine said to Kayla who just shook her hand by grabbing it with both of hers.
"Sorry... Um, yes my name is Kayla... nice to meet you."
"... Fufufu, how cute. Still first introduction aside, this place is full of Agros."
The girl studied the surroundings with a calmness that almost felt arrogant.
"Hmph. It's obvious that someone used Magic to summon us here, most likely that girl, but I know danger when I see it. To think there would have come a day when I would see a God that is vastly stronger than the Earth Deities of our own planet. How fascinating, as it is terrifying."
"Magic?"
Kayla echoed.
"Y-You actually believe in that stuff?"
The girl hearing Kayla question just let out a small laugh, it was haughty, but not unfriendly.
"Hehehehe... There are many mysterious things in our world you know, way more than you might think. As supernatural as it may sound, magic according to fellow researchers is just a form of science we don't fully understand yet."
She adjusted her uniform and continued confidently.
"In our world, magic is a miracle born from the act of spellcasting, and that spellcasting relies on two key factors. Spirits and Argos Energy. Argos is a type of energy with no inherent attributes, but if you summon and bind a spirit, you can use its attribute to shape Argos into spells through something called String Code, which is used when forming and coding a magic circle with it."
Kayla did not know how to responded to that, or if any of what she said is true.
But her mind picked up a familiar word, as her favourite novel was mostly centered around the Demon King who was a Demonic Spirit.
And in that world if you beat and tame a spirit, you gain that spirit power.
"You said Spirit's right?"
Kayla repeated, intrigued despite herself.
"Mm-hmm."
The girl nodded.
"We don't really know what they are, so we just call them spirits, but it's theorized they're a form of living information that exists across all planes at once, and thanks to them, the study of Argos has advanced rapidly, with new spells being discovered and cataloged by researchers every day."
Rorine casually said, but to Kayla it was just non-sense.
Science, that she understood. Their civilization was a Type-III on the Kardashev scale. They had colonized multiple star systems, harnessed stellar energy, and only recently unlocked the first keys to multiversal travel.
That was real as it was was grounded.
But this? Talking about spirits and spellcasting? It felt like she had stepped into one of her own fantasy novels.
Still, something inside her refused to outright reject it. There was a logic beneath the mysticism.
But as she tried to piece her thoughts together, a familiar and comforting voice rang through the confused crowd of students.
"Okay kids, let's all calm down, alright?"
It was Ms. Halden, their world history and science teacher. Despite the absurdity of everything, she somehow managed to keep her usual no-nonsense tone, though her voice carried the faintest edge of tension.
She adjusted her glasses and, with remarkable composure, turned toward the radiant childlike figure that stood at the center of the white void.
"Um, Miss Vileth, I take it you're the one who brought us here?"
She asked, politely but firmly.
"If it's not too much trouble… could you tell us where we are exactly?"
She asked, and for moment there was a pause after the question was asked.
Then the mysterious girl...Vileth, the so-called Demonic Goddess suddenly began to chuckle.
"Hahahah...
It wasn't one that was mocking, rather it seems that she was amused.
Right after.
Her voice echoed among the students.
"Curious, are we? How delightful."
Her eyes glinted, and her presence effortlessly dominating the space.
"Very well, allow me to educate you all."
"For starters... your physical forms remain in the chamber where the ritual that brought you to the Otherworld was performed. But your souls have been pulled into this higher place."
"And as some of you may have guessed earlier... I can assure you this is not a simulation, nor some stupid TV prank show."
"But if you must know, then all you really need to understand is that you are now standing within a conceptual plane, specifically, the Divine Plane of the Gods, or as most of you know it as <The Celestial World>."
"It is here, by our will alone, that we shape our divine kingdom, or Pantheon for ourselves, children and brethren. But to make it easier this white space is my kingdom, sorry if it dull but I am not a fan of colorful things."
"Sigh... but either way, just because your bodies are not here, don't think I can't kill you. From this plane, I am more real than any of you. To me, each of you are no different than illusions in a dream, and a dream I can fully control. Mind, body, and soul, from my point of view it's all the same...your entire existence is laid bare before me remember that."
She gave subtle warning, with a menacing smile, then continued to speak.
"Now then... let's get this out of the way."
Vileth said, her tone darkening.
"I summoned you here as a reward for my First Contractor, The New Order is stretched a little thin, but to prepare for the onslaught of the Human World, we need to prep the land for our arrival. And to that end, you will serve. I expect much from you all, my so-called Chosens."
She smiled, a slow, malicious grin that didn't reach her eyes.
"But I am a fair Goddess, after all. Each of you will receive a single Unique Ability... and I shall even permit you to choose your demonic race. Consider it a gift... before the shackles tighten."
"What? No...no, you've got to send us back! Like hell I'm staying here!"
One of the cheerleaders screamed, her voice shrill and panicked.
A few more joined her, the chorus of defiance swelling.
"You can't just summon us and expect us to obey!"
"Yeah! Send us back! This is insane!"
"Okay, let's all calm down...
Ms. Halden raised her hands, trying to steady the growing fear. But Vileth's expression darkened, as she folded her arms and spoke coldly.
"Hmph. I see...
Her gaze swept over the students like a butcher inspecting livestock.
"So, let me get this straight, if you do not wish to stay, raise your hand. Don't be shy now...
A handful of students hesitantly complied. Even Kayla started to raise her hand, as she see the crows do so, until Rorine silently grabbed her wrist pulling it down before it was properly raised, and shook her head, fear frozen in her wide eyes. Kayla lowered her hand even brining it to her side.
But for those who didn't, Vileth sneered with disgust.
"A pity... but examples must be made. The rest of you need to understand your place here."
With those words, the pristine white void began to fracture, spiderweb like cracks ripping through reality of the place itself near the students who raised their hands, they tried to run, but the cracks follow them conceptually. Once complete, from those rifts burst monstrous, demonic hands the size of horses, slick with black slime and wrapped in barbed tentacles.
They lunged forward at an unbelievable speed, stretching so far outwards they were longer than two school buses behind each other, on top of that they limbs lack any kind of bone as they flex without issue and in any direction almost like rope.
"WAIT...NO, NO!!
"OH GOD PLEASE HELP US...
"HELP ME GUYS I DONT WANT TO DIE...
One cheerleader grab her friend Tiffandra by the feet, the monsterous hand dragging her along.
"Get off me bitch."
THUD!!
Tiffandra said kicking her in the face causing her to let go as she was pulled into the crack space.
Their screams were deafening as the hands grabbed the dissenters, wrenching their bodies through the cracks. The students were dragged in violently, arms flailing, bones breaking, flesh splitting as they vanished into the screaming void. Blood sprayed across the white floor, despite Vileth saying that only their soul was here.
It wasn't long before they all got dragged in leaving the place in dreadful silence.
The other surviving students voice cracked into a scream.
"Oh my God… what is this hell?!"
Halden said in horror falling flat on her ass again looking at the monsterous girl that was the source of their suffering.
While the rest tried to run away from her, but in this place there was no escape, because as soon as the tried to run.
They were frozen still, trapped in place by a suffocating red aura that clung to their skin like hot oil, and around their body.
"W-What is this?!"
Kayla asked unable to move an inch.
"I don't know."
Rorine commented.
Seeing this Vileth sighed, as she floated towards them and said.
"How annoying. Almost half the total summon… fed to my beautiful pets."
"Oh well. The remaining twelve of you will get their abilities. Four of you... will not."
Her smile widened into something inhuman.
"But let's be clear, you never had a choice. It's serve... or die. Hehehe... But enjoy the dream you will fall into while it at last, and picked a proper race, and class... As for the those who will get extra abilities, well it will be random."
"Now, let your inner desires screams loud pitiful children of man, the power you receive from me will is what the Humans of the Otherworld called a <Divine Blessing> it means your loved by a <God> or <Goddess> in it self, it is a unique subjective law that awaken within your soul. And since my alignment is that of Manevolence the manifestation you get from me, will be your greatest wants in life realize in some shape or form, the dream you will all fall into will be able to help you see your true self more clearly the moment you choose your Demonic race, and these abilities will awaken in you after the end of it."
Moments later, the students, still trapped by the strange red energy holding them in place began to feel overwhelmingly drowsy.
Kayla too felt the pull, her eyelids growing heavier by the second. And just as she began to lose consciousness, the last thing she heard in that stark white world…
Was Vileth's voice, speaking to someone.
"Hmmm… you're different from the rest. Hehahah... I like you, little spiritualist from another World."
How about becoming my...
The world went black.
All sensation ceased.
Kayla's mind was already spiraling downward, into a dream.
Then came another voice.
It sounded almost like Vileth's... but colder. Mechanical even like a robot.
