Let's get started

*******************************

Harry had never believed that there could be a boy he hated, but that was before he had met Draco Malfoy. The boy always looked for an opportunity to make Harry look ridiculous, whether it was in the Slytherin Common Room or in class.

Now Harry was really regretting choosing to go to Slytherin. If he had been in Gryffindor, he would only be with the Slytherins in Potions class.

The good thing was that Harry could avoid Malfoy while they ate in the Great Hall, since he could sit with his friends at other tables.

Speaking of which, Harry was at the Hufflepuff table with his group of friends; having two new additions to the group, Susan Bones and Hannah Abbott.

They were currently talking about the flying class they were going to have today.

Harry was once again thankful that he wasn't sitting at the Slytherin table, because from there he could hear Malfoy bragging about how good he is at flying a broomstick.

The truth was that Malfoy talked a lot about flying. He complained loudly that first years never made Quidditch teams and told long, boastful stories, which always ended with him escaping from helicopters piloted by Muggles.

But there were plenty of first years, more of them from wizarding families, talking about their experiences on broomsticks.

Harry looked at his friends, to see that some were calm about flying class, while others seemed nervous.

Take Neville, for example. He had never owned a broomstick in his life, because his grandmother wouldn't let him. Harry thought she had acted correctly, given that Neville managed to have an extraordinary number of accidents, even with both feet on the ground.

Hermione was almost as nervous as Neville about flying. That was something you couldn't memorize from books, although she had tried. At breakfast on Thursday, she surprised everyone with notes about flying that she had found in a library book called Quidditch Through the Ages. Neville hung on every word, desperate to find something that would help him later with his broom.

Susan and Hannah were calm, being part of a Wizarding family, they had experience with flying brooms.

-"How can you be so calm?"- Hermione suddenly asked Harry, putting her notes aside when she saw him very calm. -"Doesn't the idea of flying terrify you?"-

-"No, I've ridden a broom before"- Harry said with a smile. -"I assure you that if you are calm, everything will be fine, and in the end you will like it"-

-"Harry is right"- Susan said. -"At first I was scared, but then I found flying a broom amazing"-

-"Easy for you to say"- Hermione said nervously. -"Since you like it"-

Harry thought for a moment, then looked at Hermione with a mocking smile.

-"Hermione..."- Harry gave her a mocking smile. -"Are you afraid of heights?"-

-"Wh-What?"- Hermione blushed in embarrassment. -"O-Of course not!"-

-"Are you sure?"- Harry asked her, still smiling. -"Because it seems so"-

-"I'm not afraid of heights!"- Hermione declared firmly. -"I just prefer to be on the ground than in the middle of the air"-

-"Yeah, whatever you say Hermione"-

Harry smirked, then received a glare from her, while the others laughed.

The laughter was interrupted with the arrival of the mail.

Harry was one of the few who didn't receive mail, but that didn't worry him. He did receive mail from his family by a private method involving Hedwig.

Suddenly, the owl handed Neville a small package from his grandmother. He opened it excitedly and showed them a crystal ball, the size of a large marble, that seemed to be filled with white smoke.

-"It's a memoir!"- Neville explained. -"Grandma knows I forget things and this tells you if there's something you've forgotten to do."-

Neville smirked, as he held the remembrall up for his friends to see.

-"Look, you hold it like this, tight, and if it turns red... Oh..."- Neville turned pale, as the remembrall suddenly glowed scarlet. -"... You've forgotten something."-

Hannah smiled. -"Looks like you've forgotten something."-

The group quickly laughed at the scene.

Neville was trying to remember what he had forgotten, when Draco Malfoy, who was passing by the Hufflepuff table, snatched the remembrall from his hands.

Neville quickly complained. -"Hey!"-

Malfoy looked at the remembrall with a smug smile. -"Nice remembrall, Longbottom."-

-"Give it back, Malfoy."-

Hannah said, standing up with Harry.

Malfoy sneered. -"And what if I don't?"-

-"Then I'll take it from you"-

Harry replied calmly, causing Malfoy to scoff.

-"Ha, and how will you do that, Pott-?"-

Malfoy suddenly fell silent as he saw Harry display the remembrall in his hand with a smile.

Malfoy looked surprised, then looked at his hands and saw that he didn't have the remembrall.

Harry smiled at him. -"I told you"-

-"How come-?"-

-"What? Didn't you see it?"- Harry asked with a smile, angering Malfoy. -"And you call yourself a Wizard?"-

Malfoy was about to take out his wand, but stopped because Professor McGonagall, who detected problems faster than any other teacher in the school, was already there.

McGonagall looked at them all seriously. -"What's wrong?"-

-"Nothing Professor"- Harry replied calmly. -"Malfoy just came to say hello."-

Professor McGonagall then looked at Malfoy. -"Is that true, Mr. Malfoy?"-

-"Yes, Professor. We were just about to leave."-

After saying that, Malfoy glared at Harry, then walked away, followed by Crabbe and Goyle.

Seeing Malfoy walk away, she gave one last look to the group of friends.

-"Don't cause trouble."- McGonagall warned them, hoping they would understand. -"Yes?"-

Harry smiled innocently. -"Of course, Professor."-

Professor McGonagall rolled her eyes as she walked away. -(Just like her father...)-

When the professor got far enough away, Hermione was the first to ask Harry what happened.

-"How did you do that?"-

Harry looked confused. -"What thing?"-

-"Take the remembrall."- Hermione said, looking at Harry for answers. -"I didn't see you move or take out your wand."-

-"What are you talking about?"- Harry said, holding up his hands to show that he didn't have the remembrall. -"I don't have the remembrall."-

The others blinked in confusion and surprise, then watched as Harry pointed at Neville.

-"Neville has it."- Harry said. -"He had it all along."-

-"But I didn't..."-

Neville quickly stopped talking when he saw the remembrall in his hand.

Everyone looked surprised, then looked at the smiling Harry.

Susan was the first to ask. -"How did you do it?"-

-"Magic."-

Harry answered calmly, confusing his friends even more.

-"I'm not sure that's an accurate answer..."-

Hermione said, not knowing what to think, knowing that Magic was very unpredictable.

And all through breakfast they tried to get an answer from the smiling Harry.

...

.....

....

...

That afternoon, at half past three, Harry and the other Slytherins ran down the front steps into the park to attend their first flying lesson. It was a clear, windy day. The grass rustled beneath their feet as they made their way down the sloping ground towards a meadow on the other side of the Forbidden Forest, the trees swaying darkly in the distance.

The Gryffindors were already there, and so were the twenty broomsticks, neatly lined up on the ground.

Harry had heard older Slytherin students complain about the school's broomsticks, saying that some began to vibrate if you flew too high, or that they always flew slightly to the left.

Then the teacher, Madam Hooch, arrived. She was short, with grey hair and yellow eyes like a hawk's.

-"Well, what are you waiting for?"- Madam Hooch bellowed. -"Each one to a broom. Come on, quickly."-

The students quickly each stood next to a broom.

Harry looked at his broom. It was old and some of the straw sticking out at odd angles.

-"Extend your right hand over the broom,"- Madam Hooch instructed. -"And say 'up'."-

They all quickly shouted. -"UP!"-

Harry's broom immediately jumped in his hands, but he was one of the few who managed it. Neville's didn't move at all and Ron Weasley's rose sharply and hit him in the nose.

Harry tried his best not to laugh at that. Then he looked at Neville being very nervous and decided to help him before something bad happened.

-"Easy, Neville,"- said Harry. -"If you're nervous, you'll never get on."-

Neville, hearing that, took a deep breath to calm his nerves, and then tried again.

-"UP!"-

Then the broom jumped into his hand.

Neville smiled happily. -"It worked!"-

Harry smiled. -"I told you so."-

Then, Madam Hooch showed them how to get on the broom, without sliding to the top, and went down the row, correcting them on how to hold it. Harry was very happy when the teacher told Malfoy that he had been doing it wrong for all these years.

-"Now, when I blow my whistle, you kick hard," said Madam Hooch. -"Hold your brooms steady, rise a meter or two and then lower yourself down leaning gently. Ready... three... two..."-

*Piiiiiiiiiiiii!*

Upon hearing the whistle, all the students kicked the ground and rose a small distance thanks to the brooms, then descended without any problem.

Professor Hooch smiled when she saw that everyone was able to mount and land the brooms, and that no accidents occurred.

-"Well, it's time for you to learn some tricks, but remember not to go up any further until I tell you to."-

Mrs. Hooch then continued with the class.

After several minutes, the students were already more comfortable on the brooms and doing some beginner Quidditch tricks.

But among all of them, Harry was the one who did the movements and tricks as if he were a professional.

Harry loved to fly, whether using Magic or using brooms. He liked being in the air and flying very freely.

Now he knew how Great Red felt when flying in the Dimensional Gap.

-"Wow, Potter,"- said a Slytherin student, who was flying a few meters ahead of Harry. -"You sure are good at this."-

When Harry looked at who it was, he could recognize her as Tracey Davis, a first-year Slytherin.

-"I wouldn't say I'm good,"- Harry admitted. -"I'd rather say I only know a few things."-

-"How humble of you."- Tracey smiled at him. -"Are you sure you're not a Hufflepuff?"-

Harry smiled back. -"No, but I wouldn't mind being one."-

-"You sure are someone very particular, Potter."-

Harry just smiled at Tracey's words. -"Thanks, Davis."-

-"It wasn't a compliment,"-- Tracey said, then shrugged. -"But it doesn't matter."-

She then continued flying, moving away from Harry.

As Harry walked away, he noticed that Davis's broom was starting to crack. When he saw a small amount of magic coming out of it like electricity, he knew something bad was going to happen.

-"Davis, watch out!"-

Harry shouted, calling Tracey's attention.

Tracey stopped, confused. -"Huh?"-

But it was too late...

More cracks spread all over the broom, and from there came a large amount of magic in the form of electricity, as if it had a short circuit.

In an instant, the broom began to move abruptly all around, while Tracey desperately held on to the broom to keep from falling, but she couldn't stop herself from screaming, calling the attention of the entire class.

-"Miss Davis!"- Madam Hooch shouted, as she got a broom to help. -"Try to control the broom!"-

-"I-I can't!"-

Tracey screamed in terror, and then the broom rose to a great height.

Then it stopped abruptly, causing Tracey to jump and be pulled off the broom, but she was fast enough to grab on with one hand and hang on.

-"Hold on tight!"- Madam Hooch shouted. -"I'm coming for you!"-

But before it could take off, the broom moved abruptly again, causing Tracey to let go.

Everyone screamed in surprise, Tracey even more so, who closed her eyes with tears coming out, waiting for the impact. But suddenly, she felt a great warmth enveloping her and protecting her. And when she opened her eyes, she was stunned when she saw the most beautiful thing she had ever seen.

They were eyes that looked at her. It was bright green, as beautiful or even more beautiful than an emerald, and that worried glow that it showed only made it more beautiful.

-"Are you okay?"-

The one who asked was the owner of the eyes, making Tracey come back to reality, and then blush massively when she remembered who in the entire class was the only one with those eyes.

-"Hey, Davis"- Harry said with concern when he saw that Tracey did not respond. -"Can you hear me? Are you okay?"-

-"Y-Yes, I-I'm fine!"-

Tracey answered very embarrassed while trying not to look directly at Harry.

-"Okay"- Harry said, then began to descend. -"Now we're going down, so don't let go"-

Tracey grabbed Harry's robes tightly, sticking to him well, only causing his blush to grow.

When they reached the ground, Harry noticed that Tracey was still holding on to him silently.

-"Ehh, Davis"- Harry said, calling the attention of the blushing Tracey. -"We're on the ground now."-

-"Y-Yes!"-

Tracey embarrassedly walked away from Harry quickly.

-"Miss Davis! Are you okay!?"- Madam Hooch asked with concern, after having reached them, along with the other students. -"Do you have any injuries!?"-

-"N-No, I'm fine"- Tracey said, still in shock from everything that happened. -"I don't have any injuries"-

-"It's okay, but we'll go to the infirmary just in case"- Madam Hooch said, then looked at Harry, while a worried Daphne asked Tracey if she was okay. -"I'm impressed, Mr. Potter-Uzumaki. In all my years of teaching, I've never seen anyone move at that speed, much less with these old brooms"-

Madam Hooch raised the old broom that Harry had used, then smiled. -"And you were also brave enough to save Miss Davis, no matter if you were hurt"-

-"I acted without thinking"- Harry said. -"I just did what anyone would have done in that situation"-

-"You did something heroic anyway, Mr. Potter-Uzumaki, so I'll give you 50 points for saving your partner and another 10 for that amazing broom move"- Madam Hooch said with a smile, embarrassing Harry a little. -"And I'm sure the Headmaster or the Council will give you another reward for such an act of heroism"-

Madam Hooch then turned to Tracey.

-"Come on, Miss Davis, we'll have you checked out in the Infirmary"- Madam Hooch walked away with Tracey, then looked at the students. -"Class is over"-

She then left with Tracey.

Then each student began to leave, while they talked about what happened.

-"Harry, that was incredible!"-

Neville shouted in surprise at what his friend did.

Harry was embarrassed. -"It's not that big of a deal"-

-"It's not that big of a deal? What you did is fit for a professional Quidditch player!"- Neville said -"Oh even more so!"-

Harry just felt embarrassed as he received praise from Neville as they walked off the field.

...

The next day at breakfast, Harry was getting more stares than usual as he ate breakfast with his friends at the Ravenclaw table.

-(Rumors sure travel fast...)-

Harry thought, knowing why he was getting more stares than usual. Obviously the whole school already knew about the accident in Flying Class and Harry's act of heroism.

-"Why do they have to look at me like I'm some kind of hero?"-

Harry said that because he was embarrassed by the stares from the students.

Susan smiled at him. -"Because you are, Harry"-

-"Yes"- Hermione said. -"But I'm surprised that the whole school already knows."-

-"I bet it was Lavender Brown."- Neville said. -"She's already become the school gossip along with Parvati Patil."-

Hannah smiled. -"Which means that Harry's fame has increased."-

What she said caused Harry to groan in frustration.

-"And by the way."- Hermione looked at Harry curiously. -"How is Davis? Did something happen to him?"-

-"I saw her this morning in the Common Room."- Harry said. -"And she looked fine."-

-"And did she say anything to you?"- Susan asked. -"Did she at least thank you?"-

-"No."- Harry said, then put on a confused expression. -"And the weirdest thing is that when she saw me in the Common Room, she quickly ran away from me."-

-"She ran away from you?"- Neville asked confused. -"Why?"-

His response was only met with a shrug from Harry.

-"Mr. Potter-Uzumaki..."-

Suddenly a cold voice was heard behind Harry.

Harry could see his friends staring transfixed at the person behind him, and when he looked, he could see Professor Snape with a cold expression.

-"The Headmaster wants to see you."-

After saying that, Snape started walking. Knowing he had to follow him, Harry said goodbye to his friends and followed Snape.

After walking in awkward silence, they came to the entrance of a tower, which was guarded by a large, ugly stone gargoyle.

-"Ice mice."-

Snape's words caused the gargoyle to step aside, and they entered the tower and climbed a long staircase. They then came to a large, circular room with many windows and many portraits, which also hosted a series of thin tables on which delicate silver instruments were placed that spun and emitted small puffs of smoke, as well as an incredible collection of books.

And currently the Headmaster, Albus Dumbledore, was sitting at his desk.

Dumbledore greeted them with a smile. -"Ah, Mr. Potter-Uzumaki, Severus. Please come in."-

Harry and Snape sat down in the available chairs in front of Dumbledore.

-"Lemon Drops?"-

Dumbledore offered them to the newcomers. The two declined, thus beginning with the reason for being here.

-"Well, Mr. Potter-Uzumaki."- Dumbledore began with a smile. -"The reason I called you here is to thank you for your act of heroism in saving Miss Davis."-

-"No need, Headmaster."- Harry said. -"I just did what I had to do."-

-"Okay, but thank you all the same."- Dumbledore said. -"If it weren't for you, Miss Davis would have been seriously injured or worse."-

Harry had to agree with that, Tracey was at a very dangerous height, in the worst case scenario she would have died.

Dumbledore then smiled. -"That's why the Council and I have decided to award you the Special Service Award."-

-"Wh-What?"- Harry asked surprised. -"No, it's not necessary."-

Harry got nervous thinking that he would draw more attention with an award.

-"Are you sure?"- Dumbledore asked. -"It could even be in the newspaper, your name will always be remembered within the walls of Hogwarts."-

-"I'm completely sure."- Harry said. -"I don't like drawing attention."-

-"Fine, as you wish, I'll talk to the Council about it."- Dumbledore said. -"But you should still be rewarded."-

Dumbledore then started to think. He then looked at Harry and then at Snape, and suddenly had an idea.

-"Tell me, Mr. Potter-Uzumaki."- Dumbledore smiled at him. -"Oh, you like flying?"-

Harry blinked at the sudden question, but answered the same.

-"Er, yes, I like it"- Harry said honestly. -"It's very relaxing for me to fly on a broom"-

Dumbledore smiled at him. -"Then why don't you join Slytherin's Quidditch team?"-

-"What?"-

Harry was surprised by the question. And he wasn't the only one, Snape was just as surprised.

-"Yes. Professor Hooch was very impressed by your talent in class"- Dumbledore said, then looked at Snape. -"And if I'm not mistaken, Slytherin is missing a Seeker"-

Snape nodded as he remembered that. -"That's true"-

-"And what do you say, Mr. Potter-Uzumaki?"- Dumbledore asked with a smile. -"Do you want to join?"-

-"Is it okay for me to join the Quidditch team?"- Harry asked. -"I thought first years couldn't."-

-"Yes, he can."- Dumbledore said with a smile. -"It's the least we can do to reward him."-

Harry thought about it for a moment, weighing the pros and cons of joining the Slytherin team. Then he made a decision.

Harry looked at Dumbledore. -"Okay, I accept."-

-"Excellent!"- Dumbledore smiled happily. -"I'll take care of the rest. You may leave now, Mr. Potter-Uzumaki. Severus, please accompany you."-

The two nodded, then left the Headmaster's office. During the walk out, Harry could notice that Professor Snape was quieter than before.

-"Uh, Professor?"- Harry asked cautiously, so as not to anger the professor. -"Do you agree with me joining the Quidditch team?"-

Snape's response was to stop abruptly and give Harry a cold look.

-"Look, Potter,"- Snape said seriously. -"I don't like you and you don't like me."-

-"Uh, well-"-

-"But I'd rather you join the team than Gryffindor win the Cup,"- Snape interrupted him coldly. -"So I hope you don't let Slytherin House down,"-

Harry quickly replied. -"I won't, Professor."-

-"Fine," Snape said. -"Show up early tomorrow morning at the stadium. I'll have Flint explain to you what you have to do as a Seeker."-

He then left, leaving Harry alone.

Harry, seeing that he was alone, smiled happily at the thought of being a Seeker. He then quickly headed to the Slytherin Common Room to go to his room and write a letter to his family about what had happened.

He was already looking forward to his first Quidditch match.
