Harry Potter: Using science to be IMMORTAL

Chapter 346: Chapter 346: Pleased to Serve You

English Channel.

Two of the most advanced Arleigh Burke-class missile destroyers are anchored near the Portsmouth naval base.

Although they claimed to be resupplying, the two ships had no intention of entering the port, still squatting at the sea entrance, eyeing various ships coming in and out of Southampton and Portsmouth.

Being guarded by two missile destroyers equipped with the Aegis Combat System is certainly an uncomfortable experience. Protests have arisen over the past half a month.

The most influential of these protesters is Patrick Lincoln, leader of the People's Party, now the third largest party. He lashed out at the United States' overbearing actions in interviews with major media, claiming that the United States was treating its allies with the Cold War mentality it had towards the Soviet Union, not treating its own people as humans.

He also repeatedly emphasized that the UK should not give up its own interests for the sake of "allies" and that the British government should more vigorously defend its legitimate rights and interests. He argued that a weak and retreating approach would only harm the interests of the British people.

However, the People's Party is still in opposition. Although Patrick's voice has caused a significant response among the public, it has not received attention in Parliament. Many have accused Patrick of pandering for popularity, and some have even started to label him with the red party, trying to incite fear of the People's Party among the people.

"I never get tired of watching these Brits squabble every day," a navy captain on the USS McCain said, watching the news on TV, "They always act so high and mighty, as if they still think they're the number one superpower."

Just then, a soldier came over, "Captain Ender, our radar detected some strange signals. The lieutenant colonel wants you to take a look."

Arriving at the CIC Combat Information Center, Lieutenant Colonel Zick was waiting for him. The electronic warfare officer pointed out an electronic scanning array radar signal, "About 200 kilometers away, northwest direction, there's a super wideband interference signal source that scanned our ship several times yesterday. The interference pattern hasn't been identified yet, but the spectrum is very wide, affecting almost all channels."

"Full-band interference?" Ender was startled, "What's the intensity?"

"The intensity isn't very high, not causing actual damage, but if the signal source increases its interference strength by about ten times, it could directly paralyze all our radars."

Ender looked at the map on the table, seeing an area near Birmingham circled in red.

"The interference source is near Birmingham?"

"Yes," Lieutenant Colonel Zick said, "We don't understand why they would set up such a large interference source inland. For it to be effective, half of the UK's electronic devices would have to fail."

"Are we monitoring it?" Ender asked.

"We are monitoring. Within two hundred kilometers, anything larger than a football can't escape our eyes..."

Lieutenant Colonel Zick stopped mid-sentence, "What... what is this?"

On one of the monitor screens, a green dot was rapidly approaching.

The radar operator quickly reported the target's speed: "Speed one hundred, two hundred, Mach 1... Mach 2... It's accelerating... Size... around two meters... Miss, miss, missile!!!"

Everyone was startled, but Ender glanced at the fire control radar's infrared detection screen, "No, that's wrong! No heat signal!"

If it were a missile, the high temperature from the propellant burning would definitely be detectable.

Just then, suddenly, the signal disappeared.

The next instant, a dazzling flash of light appeared outside the observation window, followed by a "boom."

Ender's heart skipped a beat, almost thinking the ship had been hit by a missile.

However, no vibration came, and no alarm sounded.

"What happened?" the lieutenant colonel demanded.

"Someo... someone..." suddenly, an officer pointed to the deck outside the window.

Ender turned to look, seeing a man in a black robe standing up on the deck. As if sensing Ender's gaze, the man looked this way, then suddenly disappeared.

"What?" Ender was stunned, "Where did he go?"

"What just happened?" the lieutenant colonel asked the officer.

"After that flash, I saw him on the deck..." the officer said with a ghostly expression, "He seemed to appear out of nowhere..."

"Parachuting?" That was the only possibility Ender could think of.

But how did the radar not react earlier?

Suddenly, a voice came over the ship's communication channel, "Alert! Alert! Someone has breached... has... uh..."

"Legilimens!"

Ender was stunned. Someone had single-handedly breached this destroyer at sea?

SAS—Special Air Service of the British Army?

Beyond that, he couldn't think of anyone else capable of such a feat.

"Quick, report, we are under attack!" Lieutenant Colonel Zick didn't hesitate, immediately ordering, "All hands to battle stations!"

"All hands! Battle stations!" The voice over the loudspeaker resonated throughout the ship, and the shrill alarm accompanied by red warning lights made everyone's hearts jump to their throats.

Over two hundred soldiers on the ship loaded their weapons, but the channel's alarm did not sound again.

"Send someone to check what's going on!" the lieutenant colonel ordered.

Just then, the door to the intelligence center was suddenly opened.

A soldier walked in. Ender was startled; he recognized this as a soldier responsible for deck sanitation, who had no business being here.

"How did you get in here?!"

But the other party just smiled, "Sorry, gentlemen, I'll be borrowing your ship."

"What?!"

"Everyone, do... not... move." The man spoke, his voice echoing in the cramped command cabin with a terrifying magic, causing Ender's motion to draw his weapon to stop midway.

Then, he watched wide-eyed as more than a dozen ravens flew out from behind the man, and the next second, more than a dozen figures in black robes appeared in the command cabin accompanied by lightning.

"Control them," the overly young man said.

A robed figure approached the lieutenant colonel, pulled out a small stick, "Imperio!"

The others also cast spells on the other people in the command room. Finally, the young man with black hair approached Ender, "Your mental resistance is quite impressive. Let me do it myself."

The man said, pressing a finger to his forehead. Immediately, Ender felt an unbelievable pleasure and couldn't help but laugh.

"Pleased to serve you, sir."

Before he completely succumbed, he heard himself say.
