Harry Potter: Using science to be IMMORTAL

Chapter 340: Chapter 340: The Consequences of Magic Dissemination

The explosion of the Fiendfyre jar shattered the base of the antenna, what the members of the Order of the Phoenix hadn't noticed was that the base wasn't solid; it was filled with a large amount of gray-black fine iron powder.

The explosion dispersed the magical metal powder, and amid the roaring flames, the gray-black powder rose with the smoke, enveloping the entire mountaintop in a haze.

The coverage of the magical powder acted like a signal jammer, rendering ineffective both Murphy's mental network and the communication established by the Order through phoenix feathers.

Thus, Dumbledore, sitting in front of Murphy, received no forewarning.

Yet, even so, as he picked up the last bean from the table, a sense of unease rose in his heart.

"Beef flavor."

The moment Dumbledore picked up the bean, Murphy spoke.

"You were distracted for a moment, Professor."

Dumbledore frowned, but at that moment, Grindelwald suddenly grabbed his arm, "Albus, we need to leave."

He had a strong premonition that they had already failed.

"You still have one last question unanswered."

"You're stalling for time," Grindelwald said with a furrowed brow, "You knew of our plan?"

It seemed the other side had also realized this, so Murphy no longer hid the truth.

"I have some methods to prevent key information from leaking. Therefore, through ordinary means, it's difficult for you to get important information from my side. Only the Holy Mother can break through my magical contracts to provide you with the most valuable intelligence."

"Of course, this sometimes causes some trouble, but as long as I know where the information leaked from, I can control what is leaked, even providing the enemy with false information."

"Now I can tell you, Professor. That antenna was a decoy. Your people are being slaughtered."

Though it sounded simple, in reality, deceiving the Holy Mother, who could possibly learn his thoughts through mental coordinates, took some effort. The fact that the antenna was a decoy wasn't even known to Murphy himself until Lucas trapped the Holy Mother — it was entirely Lucas's arrangement, and she had to ensure Murphy was unaware of this plan.

Dumbledore stood up abruptly, but Murphy remained seated, "We've been sitting here for so long, I won't let you leave easily. We could fight, but believe me, by the time you kill me, the Order of the Phoenix will already be annihilated."

"Perhaps, you can answer my last question. Get the answer, and I naturally will let both of you leave."

"Ha, it's been many years since anyone dared to threaten me like this," Grindelwald snorted coldly. He drew his wand, ready to battle this presumptuous young man, but Dumbledore stopped him, "What more do you want to know?"

"After guessing that secret, I have many more questions," Murphy said, "For instance, where did you learn this secret from? And who set up that Fidelius Charm? How did they make this spell work on a global scale?"

"But more importantly, I'm interested in its purpose."

"Why set up this spell?"

"What would happen if the spell were broken, allowing magic to spread widely?"

"You're afraid," Grindelwald suddenly sneered, "You must have some guesses, right? How many Muggles are there? And how many wizards? With the current number of wizards, we have the present concentration of magic. If all Muggles knew about magic, what would happen if magic were expanded thousands, even millions of times?"

"Murphy, you want to become a god, but do you think you're the only one who's ever thought that?"

"How do you know gods didn't exist in the past?"

...

Dumbledore and Grindelwald left.

Murphy didn't stop them, partly because, without a powerful artifact like the Elder Wand, he lacked the means to detain them forcefully; at best, he could only delay them.

On the other hand, he couldn't exterminate the Order of the Phoenix.

Emotionally, he didn't dislike those people; in fact, many were acquaintances. If possible, he actually didn't want to kill them.

But another consideration was that he had to leave Dumbledore with some ties.

The Order of the Phoenix was both Dumbledore's wings and his shackles. If Murphy truly annihilated the Order, it would essentially force Dumbledore to become a lone wolf.

And such a master, if turned into an unrestrained destroyer, would pose an even greater threat to Murphy.

He pulled out a black notebook and wrote down a line, "Lucas, come back."

The mental network was blocked by the magic metal powder, but this notebook was Lucas's Horcrux, her soul resided within, making its communication priority much higher than ordinary mental transmissions.

Seconds later, Lucas appeared beside Murphy through several Apparitions, "Professor Murphy."

Murphy observed the girl in front of him, noting a trace of confusion in her expression.

"What's wrong, Lucas? What happened?"

"I..." Lucas hesitated, then shook her head, "I'm fine. I just received a warning from the Magic Research Institute. The Holy Mother is escaping."

"Oh?"

...

Magic Research Institute, underground computer room corridor.

Murphy saw the pendant bound by countless laser beams through several layers of bulletproof glass.

"Its magical strength is weakening, very slowly but steadily," a researcher said.

"Is it because it's resisting these beams?" Murphy asked.

"That's a factor, but it's decaying faster than expected, and even if we stop the attack, the decay won't halt," the researcher explained, "So we believe it's escaping."

"Did you detect any magical signals outside the shielding net?"

"No, its method of escape is likely non-spatial linear. We suspect it has some kind of extradimensional passage to the outside world. Although our shielding partially blocks this passage, it hasn't completely isolated it."

"Mental space," Murphy said.

His shared perception with the raven, mental network, and Dumbledore's phoenix feather were all non-local connections, akin to quantum entanglement effects, where no detectable signal transmission channel exists in between. The Holy Mother's mental space was similar.

Murphy had reason to believe it was using this special ability to transfer itself.

"How long until it fully escapes at this rate?"

"In two hours, it can transfer away 65% of its energy. We believe this amount of magic should be enough to maintain its physical integrity."

Murphy looked at Lucas, "Can the antenna be used in two hours?"

The antenna destroyed by the Order was mostly a mundane construction meant for muggles, his real antenna construction plan was given to Lucas, and even now, he was unaware of its exact progress.

Lucas thought for a moment, "About 80% is completed; it can be used now, but the power won't reach full capacity, and it hasn't been calibrated."

"Activate it," Murphy said.

The antenna could be repaired, but the chance to capture the Holy Mother was rare; it was worth a try.

"Then I might have to say goodbye for now, Professor," Lucas said, "I need to transfer my essence to Athena first."

But as she spoke, a gentle female voice emanated from within the glass enclosure, "Lucas... no, Tom Riddle."

"Do you really trust this man?"
